Last one I killed fell to 62gn from a .223 With any round, sub 2500fps, I'd be looking for a double lung shot & nothing else. Fast & light, go for the neck. Piggy's don't stand up well to any kind of hydrostatic shock near the spine.

Found this today, whilst antelope hunting up in Wyoming. Perfect, un-chewed, unbroken 6 point.

Nossir. I'm shooting Berger Hybrids. I'm not sure cast would stand up to 3150fps!

Where everything goes just right! I finally figured out why my 1885 didn't like cast boolits. The expander plug in my die was too small & was compressing the less bullet in the case to the point it wouldn't obturate to bore size. Half an hour if test loading got me 22 consecutive hits on a 24" tall by 12" wide plate at 600yds. I also shot my first deliberate group at 1000yds with my 6.5x55. The wind was tough to read, but I managed an 8" 3 shot group. Not world being, but good enough that I'm still grinning!

Basically, if you wouldn't want it on your $300 truck gun, it'll be fine on an airgun.

Depends. In a spring powered air rifle the recoil impulse is way worse than most center fire rifles. Not the felt recoil, but the vibration throughout the gun itself. You have recoil in 2 directions because.....physics. Or something. I do know that a .22, 9lb springer can destroy a $600 Leopold in less than 50 shots. I don't want to talk about how I know that. If you can find an airgun specific scope (mostly & oddly, cheap crap) it'll serve you very, very well. If not, go with something cheap & nasty. Barska, Centerpoint, Tasco or Simmons will all hold up better than top of the line gear. Reason being, everything inside them is coursely made, overbuilt & wildly inconsistent. Don't expect repeatable adjustments.

And being completely pneumatic, it was also totally & I mean, totally, silent. It literally sounded like 2 toothpicks being clicked together!

Back in the England I was a very ardent airgun hunter. This was my absolute pride & joy.... An Air Arms s410 in a hugely expensive custom stock. I had the trigger lightened to 1.25lb, the valve timing altered to less than 18mSec. Fitted a solid brass bolt, Weirauch silencer & Hawke Optics 6-24x50 scope. It was limited (by law) to 12 ft/lb of muzzle energy, so velocity was only 544fps. My best grouping was with Bisley Magnum 18gn pellets & was under 0.125" at 50yds. I dumped so much money into that gun it's not even funny. I want to say that between the rifle & charging gear I had in excess of 3 grand invested.

As seen on the back of a cludgy door in Cabelas, Sydney, Nebraska.....

Also (& please don't take offence at this) you have to consider the simple fact that not many countries want Americans to move there. Emigrating to another country from the US without SIGNIFICANT financial investment or marriage to a resident citizen is really, really difficult.

Took me way too much time, effort & money to get here for me to leave voluntarily. If the government makes that decision for me, I sure as $#*t ain't going back to anywhere in Europe. The south island of New Zealand would be our choice. I'd love Australia, but getting into the states was bad enough. My sanity couldn't handle that visa process.

Probably one of the, if not THE most versatile cartridges. There's nothing alive today that you couldn't figure a suitable load for. Nice video! :D Glad you didn't girl out on me!

Bledsoe State forest. Right across the road(ish) from Fall Creek Falls, without any of the amenities. Or people. There's some great fishing, especially if you have a canoe/kayak. It's a 5 minute drive to FCF for the hiking trails & if you're so inclined, the breakfast at the 3-way gas station headed in toward Pikeville, is excellent!

Small claims court assistance needed
Handsome Rob replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Also, it's worth checking with your county the minimum amount you can sue for. I know each county had it's own minimum limit & if it falls below that minimum (commonly $1000) they won't even entertain a suit. If this is the case, I'm not sure how you pursue the claim.... Anal. -
There are a lot of hesitation marks, a few voids, wrinkles & gaps. The big problem, though, is that the join runs along the top of the butt & the top of the action/barrel cutout isn't coated at all. I'll not say who did it openly. Everyone has an off day, but it had to be done 4 times & "I'll have it by Saturday" turned into 4 weeks....

Yup.

The goal of the build was to stay under $500 & under 7lb. Well, I got it half right. I kept it a gnat's nut hair under five bills & an equal measure over 7 pounds. It started out as a standard 30-06 Axis including the budget scope that I scored for a total of $280. I sold the scope for $50 & the stock for $60 bringing it to a total invested of $170 A friend of mine straight-fluted the bolt body. The stock is a heavily reduced Boyd's Classic (+$90 = $260) I hollowed out the butt & shortened, slimmed & lightened the front end, dropping it's total weight by 10oz. Just got it back today from having it dipped (badly :( ) in Kryptek Nomad camo. (+ $60 = $320) I turned down & threaded the bolt handle to accept a carbon bolt knob (+ $30 = $350). Incidentally, I also had to relieve the top of the bolt handle to clear the ocular bell of the Vortex Crossfire scope. Something I didn't consider when I ordered the Talley low rings (word to the wise, is all ;) ) The barrel is (I believe) an E R Shaw blank, shortened, crowned & chambered by Jim Walters at Bison Gun Works. I had it chambered in 6.5x55 with a long throat to readily accept the long Nosler 140gn Accubonds. (+$180 = $530) The trigger is stock, but polished & shimmed, with an overtravel screw & lighter spring installed. I've set it up with almost zero travel, but a break-weight of 4lb. Safe, but simple. The barrel & action I had cerakoted by Amendment2 Custom Coatings) in Magpul FDE. I had to paint the scope. Unfortunately the total loaded weight came in at 7lb 10½oz, but for my first ever attempt at a build, to say that I'm happy is a VAST understatement! Just went out for a function test & shot 5 times with no mishaps & no lost fingers (ok, so I was nervous. First build...) Oh, I sold the original barrel on eBay for $63 the total cost finalized at $467!

Honestly, I'll take slow & silent over fast any day. Until someone build a bow that's faster than the speed of sound, it kinda doesn't matter how quick it is! A heavy arrow does a HUGE amount in quieting a bow, be it a traditional or compound. There isn't a silent made that'll shut up a bow shooting 5gpp, but shoot 10gpp & The noise reduction is tremendous! Most of my hunting bows are around 60ish at my 31¾" draw & I'm generally shooting arrows in the 750gn+ range. I rarely have deer jump the string.

Despite what every tv show, basspro & guy at the gas station tells you, you don't need 70# shooting 300+ fps to kill a deer. I have killed my fair share, as have many of my friends, with recurve in the 40# range. The trick is to up your arrow weight. None of this 5gn per pound crap, whack a 500gn arrow from a 40# bow, with a sold FIXED BLADE broadhead & there isn't a deer made will stand up to it. Keep your shots to 20yds & under & don't worry one jot about her arrow speed. My 43# selfbow shoots a 530gn arrow at around 130fps. So far I've killed 2 deer & four decent hogs with it, all between 10 & 16yds. All but one hog were complete passthrough s

Just scored another Stevens 200 in '06 for project gun #4. I was going to rebarrel to 7 rem mag, but after 10 minutes of hard soul searching (Googling) I've decided to go 280ai. What's your opinions on the cartridge? It looks like a brilliant all rounder with the potential to be almost a mag-match without all the noise, recoil & palaver. Is there anything special I need to know about brass/powder/bullet selections? This is going to be a light-ish hunting gun that'll also get some medium range (up to 700yd) target time.

Tenn Greenbelt Property Qualification Experience
Handsome Rob replied to runco's topic in General Chat
^^^ That. As far add I remember when we did ours all you have to have is 15+ acres that makes a minimum of $150 per year. I thought it sounded too easy, but we had the Franklin Co. Assessor out & that's pretty much it! -
I have a friend in Atlanta got refused a county job (Cobb) for putting 'African- American' on his application. He's white as a sheet, born in Rhodesia. The county refused him the job based on him 'falsifying his application'
