  1. Now where does a body go about finding a facemask like that? :D Beautiful buck man!
  2. That's AWESOME!!
  3. If the cops could figure out a way of shooting these little bastards from a handgun, think how many tazer batteries could be saved. I got my first taste this summer in central Florida. Made me dance like a 3 year old at a hillbilly wedding.
  4. What Dave & Chris said! :)
  5. It's called a 'charging' handle, because these days, every time you use it it costs fifty bucks.
  6. I thought Mann's closed up after the big tornado? I know a couple of guys from Flat Rock that hunted there all the time & they told me he'd lost all his fences & stock.
  7. If you're wanting a red headlamp because of 'scaring the deer' seriously, don't worry. White, blue, green or red. I've walked upto withing 5yds of a deer &Y hog with a bright white flashlight & neither batted an eyelid. I honestly believe that the deer really don't care as long as you're down wind. I've tried all kinds of lights & in ever single instance, if there's a red option, it sucked. I have Petzls, Streamlights, & Fenix lights. Any time you switch to red or put on a red filter, your vision is reduced to no more than 10'. The human eye just can't focus on the light very well & in the situations that it is used (in the woods) most of the light spectrum is beyond our capabilities.  I'd rather either use a white light, or wait until it's light enough to see without a flashlight at all.
  8. Do any of you guys have a beaver hoop lying around? I can buy online, but everywhere I've looked wants to sell me a half dozen. I only need one! I'm happy to buy one if anyone had a spare.
  9. Last time I hunted was in a stiff (15-20mph) NNW wind. I texted a buddy that I was going to quit as I figured that the wind would lock down the deer. As my phone buzzed a reply, Icouldn't answer because of this......
  10. Y'all seem to having a great session this year! Congratulations, one & all!
  11. If I could find one I could afford I'd be all over it! To my mind they're the prettiest classic rifle ever built Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  12. Lol! Not much if it's got nice wood & blued steel. A lever just ices the cake! :D Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  13. I thought you'd be taller..... Anyway, nice deer & a gun that makes me go all wobbly-kneed every time I see it! :)
  14. I just realized that the story is from 2007 (Thought it was weird seeing Tom Knapp's name...)  I wonder if he ever finished eating it?
  15. Hell, I thought I was the only person in Tennessee that even knew what caul fat was! Perfect way to add fat to smoked meat. If you want a TRUE taste of Mexico, take the heart, liver, kidneys & spleen, chop them all fairly fine, marinate overnight in chilli sauce & cilantro. Wrap the mixed, chopped pieces in the caul fat &then wrap tightly in the cleaned & blanched small intestine. Grill over hot coals until done. Absolutely delish!
  16. *Droooool* Anyone can shoot an average deer, but those li'l gals...... Oh myyyy. So sweet & tender! If I were you, I'd roast her whole over an open pit with a spiced honey glaze, just like a sammich-hog. Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  17. Sweet! Good job Dave :)
  18. Ooh... tough one. I mean, I'd like to take my .44 Marlin. I'd also like to take my .45 Rossi. Either of the .45-70s would work, as would my .458 (upto a point) My Enfield hasn't seen much time out for a while, but nor has my AR. Weatherby .270 it is then! I've got great spot that could give me a shot (famous last words, eh?) anywhere from 50 to 350yds & I've been chasing the same big old 10 pointer there for the last 3 years.
  19. Finally managed to get away to my lease this afternoon. I wasn't on stand for more than 20 minutes before a little forky showed up & offered me a 'my freezer's empty' shot, which I promptly missed. I reloaded & this 6 ran into & stopped in the exact same spot, so I figured I was getting a mulligan...... He was slightly quartering towards me & only went 40 yards across an open field before piling up in a hedgerow.
  20. I have an electronic caller & it's great for pulling in yotes from distance, but once they're within a hundred or so yards, I switch to a Knight & Hale cottontail mouth call. I've also had a lot of luck with the squeaky bulb out of a dog toy. Take the bulb out of the toy & cut a small hole in the bulb. You can fit the whole thing in your mouth so that just the to of the reed is exposed. You can suck or blow without any movement & produce some horrifying bunny sounds! A lot of the sounds on electronic calls are useless, especially in a state that doesn't have anything that sounds like a wolf howl, dying jack rabbit our mountain lion. 21. I'm maybe mistaken, but I was working on the understanding that in the situation postulated, that law & order would be pretty much outta the window anyway, at this point...... Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  22. I wire mine to a fence post, but the principle is sound! Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  23. I dump mine in my back field & hunt the coyotes & crows that come to drag it off!
  24. Been boycotting The Clown, The King & The Colonel for about 12 years. Nothing political, just don't agree with KFC's policy on chicken raising & BK & McD's are barely food. Just pointless calories with slightly less nutritional value than the wrappers they come in. Gimme a roadside taco stand any day Sent outta my ass by flying monkeys.
  25. 20+ miles, Tennessee wilderness, no road travel, marauding looter protection. Hmmmm........   I imagine I'm not really going to care too much about what other people think about what I'm carrying. I'm guessing a 3-5 day trip, being cautious & avoiding scrutiny. I'm 50/50 torn between my AR with the 16" upper, for light weight, light weight ammunition & speed of shooting and my 24" barrelled Rossi '92 in .45LC. 16 rounds of 300gn goodness in a lightish package that I'm real familiar with & can shoot nearly as quickly as a semi auto.....   I guess the 92 would be less desireable to passers by & a little less 'offensive looking' where the AR is a much lighter, quicker & just as deadly package.   Tough choice.
