  1. I'd bet both would be good option. DaveS is a rabbit guy, maybe he will chime in.
  2. .300 if you are going to reload. Otherwise, .223
  3. I've got a Savage 93 in 22mag with the Weaver 2-7 rimfire scope. It's dead nuts to 100 yards with Winchester Super X. I do have a little trouble finding them. Before the internet told me I couldn't do it... I killed lots of hogs and a few coyotes with the .22mag. Mostly I use it for squirrel hunting. I like taking those longer range head shots.    I guess you can suppress the .22mag, but I assume that it's just for shooter comfort, right? Certainly, I wouldn't think that a supersonic round like the .22mag would be the best option if you are looking for Hollywood quiet.
  4. That thing is obscene. I don't think you can pick a "wrong" bullet for that caliber. However, this is what I would choose for elephants:   https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=126
  5. Never had to deal with that. Of course I am always a courteous driver and never almost cause people to wreck. :) :rotfl
  6. I'm more visual...
  7. We got these at 12:30, dead between the "top of every hour" tour times, so we skipped it this time. They have a concert series during the summer. Planning to do the tour and one of the concerts later this summer. It's not too far from us, we should have been there before now. I sampled both in the shop. I had a drink of the bourbon last night. I liked it a lot. It is not light in flavor. You get the sweet corn mash smell more so than any other bourbon I've had. It's tough for me to describe, but it was enjoyable. With the glass sitting on the table next to me, I would get a whiff and want another sip. The black patch is more unique. I'm sure it would be a "love it or hate it" for most folks. I liked it, but really got it to let friends taste it. It would be good with a strong cigar.
  8. Took a ride over to MB Roland today. Came home with a couple bottles of rather unique whiskey.
  9. Thanks for the review. I am usually a ribeye guy, but I love a good Porterhouse. Doe's eat place in Paducah, KY has a Porterhouse for two that is pretty awesome. Definitely check it out if you are ever there.
  10. The guy turns his bike to keep it between him and the cat... Sorry bud, not going to be enough. Obviously these two animals are used to being fed by humans.
  11. My hog killing buddy in Florida says he uses a Barnes Triple Shock for hogs with a 556. He's using a 55gr because that's what his gun shoots well. I think they offer it in a few weights.
  12. Didn't realize you were a pipe smoker too. We'll have to meet up for a pipe and range day.
  13. This is a Moonshine Pipe Company Devil Anse. Smoked it tonight. :) Vermont Freehand is the site I see referenced the most on pipe forums when it comes to pipe making supplies. http://vermontfreehand.com/
  14. I have the Levang and it works well to direct towards the front.
  15. I'd probably go .223. Before I read the Internet and found out I was an idiot for trying it at all, I killed lots of hogs over bait with a .22mag. Any of those guns are fine. Try for neck shots and if your shot is true, they are DRT. I've used a .44 mag rifle to kill lots of them too. However, I had a 4 power scope on it. The 30-30 is great too. If you plan to punch one on the run, the 45-70 would be best. However, all will work for neck shots. I'd cook up some sour mash and put it out and hunt the bait all day. Or hunt a water hole mid day. Hogs drink in the heat. It's always been productive for us to hunt water when it's hot.
  16. I wish I could find my old sharp finger. I know it's in the house... Somewhere. Great knife. Great comparison.
  17. I've been very please with my Tacoma. Bought it new in 2010, got 122k on it now. I'll buy another one when the time comes. If you get a TRD OffRoad package, the 4wd is astounding. I've owned a jacked up, tricked out wrangler and the Tacoma 4wd seems as capable of not more so.
  18. I use a Burris fastfire on my turkey hunting shotgun. Now if you want it to be more of a shotgun "wing shooting" type sight, then Burris makes the Speed Bead mount for the fastfire. I did smash one fastfire against a truck door when I dropped my gun. I called Burris about repairing it and they just sent me a replacement. Top notch service.
  19. I got one yesterday, and the day before and Monday. :) took 3 states to do it.
  20. Success in Indiana. My buddy and I tagged out on the opening day. Had a great trip.
