  1. Well, it's hard to be positive but we do live in the country with the best medical care there is and Vandy is pretty high up on the overall list. As we saw in AZ head shots aren't always fatal so we should keep hope up and send a few prayers up as well. I've been pretty far down before but I just can't conceive of a place I would have to be to shoot someone like that. It's hard to have any sympathy for something I just flat don't understand. Mark

    M&P 9 vs. H&K P30?

I picked up a couple of m&p's recently. I stuck apex trigger parts in them and they work well. when I buy a gun I'm going to train with I buy a lot of mags. Since my wife is also training with one now I had to buy even more mags. If i were having to buy HK mags I would be having to eat bread and water for a while. If you decide to go with the p30 I vote the lem trigger. My friends that have them had to train a bunch to get used to it but now they wouldn't shoot anything else. Also, the triggers can be changed. I know 2 guys that did it. Mark
  5. Well, I didn't mean to type blocks at the end but I can't seem to get to the bottom of my post to edit it on the iPad. It has quirks like that sometimes. I might need to use tapatalk for this forum. Mark
  6. I'm the exact same as warbird except swap the glock and the sig. I can shoot a glock but I almost always get bitten by the slide. I think they are great guns. Sigs just fit my hand better. The shoot much more comfortably to me. Partly because of I've trained the most with it but I like the da/sa trigger. I want it to be a little harder to pull in a surprise situation... Here is where I get a little contrary: I carry a g33 almost every day. The subcompacts fit well in my hand. I think it is because I can drop my bottom fingers under the grip which changes the angle slightly. Don't know if that is valid but it seems like a possibility In the interest of broadening my experience level a bit I bought a m&p9 to train with. It fits my hand well and is letting me practice a 2nd trigger type. I still dry fire my sigs a lot to maintain muscle memory but I feel like I'm coming along decently in learning the new trigger. One more thing, I haven't tried a 4th gen glock yet to see if the backstraps make a difference. I hope so as I would like to add a couple of blocks to the collection. Mark

    Ipad2

Like mine pretty well. Kind of wish it had just a hint of a border around the screen. Sometimes my finger slips into the window and things go nuts. Wife is addicted to hers.
  8. GT, don't own any and wouldn't think of doing something like that in TN until the laws are changed. Just a little out loud wishful thinking... Mark
  9. I was watching a news report last night where a TWRA officer talked about the deer and other animals in the Memphis area. He said they are pressured into some pretty small areas right now and that a lot of deer were getting ready to drop fawns... I was thinking that the coyotes are going to know this as well. I would be more than happy to sit out with some night vision gear and keep the bad old coyotes from bothering the nice deer... Mark
  10. It's also a pretty good recruiting tool. Wanna bet they keep tabs on the finalists?
  11. Pow!!! right in the forehead. Didn't expect that and it was great. I also liked how the shot inside set the idiots off outside. That is about something I would expect to see happen in real life.
  12. Last night, really the last few episodes = yawn...
  13. This would not be for me but I fly a lot. Wheels are a must for me. Also, all those straps are waiting to catch and tear as it makes it's way down the conveyor system. I like maxpedition stuff a lot. Mark
  14. Man I didn't know you could order these. I need to come up with a reason to make a trip north...
  15. This is where I'm at until more verifiable facts emerge. On the surface it sounds like a busybody sticking his nose where he shouldn't have Mark
  16. I've got to be honest, I wish they would up the gun fighting a little bit.
  17. 1) In some states the left lane is literally for passing only and not intended for continued driving 2) I've known a ton of officers in my lifetime and virtually all of them recognize that they cause all kinds of problems when they just ride down the road. So, they elect to move on down the road and not cause traffic issues. For this awareness they get verbally abused all the time by people accusing them of abusing their authority. Too many people these days spend too much energy looking to be offended... I thought it hilarious. Who among us hasn't wished for lights and sirens at some point in time when behind some jerk like this?

    Sig .357 ??

You know, I waited quite a while to find a used 33. The subcompacts are the only Glocks I enjoy shooting. I passed up a lot of used 27's not thinking about getting a spare barrel even though I have 3 different 40/357 barrels sets for Sigs. Momma always told me to be nice since I wasn't going to be the sharpest stick in the woods....

    Sig .357 ??

^^^^^^^ Plus it's fun as heck to shoot... I know, that probably doesn't account for anything but... Even though it is the last caliber I started loading for and even though I don't have it totally dialed in yet, this is the reason I started reloading. Once you have some brass built up it is only a tiny bit more $$ to load than 9mm. Mark

  23. This... Take a couple of good fundamentals classes. Note, not beginners classes but fundamentals. Big difference... Then, take what you learn and dry fire that crap out of your 226. The flinch will be gone before you know it and you will pick up some other useful skills at the same time. No time like the present before any bad habits get further set into muscle memory.
  24. So now we know he probably didn't buy a gun at the gun show but was there to try to sell some stolen guns... Is that about right? What a screwed up family. Trash all around
  25. As we are very well acquainted with here, women are very effective advocates for our cause. It is unfortunate that there typically is a tragedy involved though... It sucks that something bad has to happen before people start paying attention. Opponents of Gun-Free Zones at Universities Find Unlikely Hero in Nevada Woman - FoxNews.com Mark
