  1. How many folks that see this are going to run out and see if they can use a ricochet to start their survival fire? In a responsible way of course... I lived out west for 10 years and shot a ton outside and I've never heard of this. Not saying it couldn't happen, or even does happen in very limited cases, but it still causes me to pause... Mark
  2. Soon there will be the zombie version and then right after that there will be tactical ones available in digital camo and FDE. I'm sure Duck's Unlimited is working on their licensed version to be ready just in time for duck season this fall. Finally the NRA will send us 3-4 mailings per week asking for us to buy the official NRA schoodie thereby saving the world as we know it... Mark (sponsored by...)
  3. ooooh snap!
  4. I've taken a couple of classes with Tiger. I enjoyed both of them. I took more notes in each of his classes than I've done in any 2 or 3 other classes combined. If you aren't used to being outdoors you should start acclimating now. I'm pretty sure that part of Al is about 2 miles from the sun. After my first class down there I knew what it would be like to train at the devils place... Have fun, Mark

    357 sig ..

Big fan of .357 sig. Have a 239, 229, & 226. All three have 40 and .357 barrels. Took forever to find a nice used g33. Not sure why I didn't get a 27 and a barrel... Baby glocks are the only ones that I shoot worth a darn. The grip angle on Glocks generally dont work for me but dropping my pinky right to the bottom of the mag shifts it enough for me to shoot comfortably. Trade off just about daily with the 33 and the 239. Both shoot like lasers for me. Reloading is where it's at for this round. I shoot longshot and MG 125's for practice and have some 125 GD's loaded with AA #9 when I want to heat things up a bit. Ranger T 125's are loaded in all the mags for carrying. You can get close velocities with 9 +P+ but you will beat the gun up if you do it a lot. Better to use slides and springs designed for it. Mark
  6. Color me impressed... Smells and tastes so much better than tap water. Mark
  7. Man... bringing back the memories. My son shot 22's from about that age until he was 11 or 12. I was up at the folks land plinking and he decided he wanted to shoot the sks and the 870. He was pretty light then and both would have tipped him over if I didn't back stop him. You could tell he was a bit sore but he handled it. Pretty soon after that we had a clay pigeon thrower and he was banging them out of the sky... Mark
  8. I ordered mine this week. I drink a lot of water and was getting a little tired of all of the bottles. We were thinking of going with one of the water services but if this tastes as good as everyone says then it will be a better solution. The ability to filter water during an emergency is a nice bonus... Mark
  9. This is a stupid crazy amount of time to wait...
  10. Plenty of free time to go march about every little thing since they aren't working anyway?
  11. Once I would have been. Now, he just won't get my money. And he won't get any from anyone I know or talk to. Will that impact his future? Probably not but treat enough customers like dirt and eventually someone that values customer service will own a safe store.
  12. I did drive up from Franklin. I started to call first but I didn't. (Silly me...) Doors locked, lights out, no one home...
  13. Just about all of them... I would suggest reading them in order of date published.
  14. Showoff... could have just said gun or even firearm if you wanted more than one syllable but noooo.....
  15. 63.7% 12.2% some relevant statistics... people are surprised when I ask what they think the breakdown is... 5-1 loss ratio is a number I can live with; especially when you realize that most of the 5 are in large liberal urban centers. We could wall them off and let them burn to the ground for all I really care... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States#Race_and_ethnicity
  16. I know that in both on and off road racing there have been times when having belts on was the only thing that kept me in contact with the drivers seat and thus able to still operate the vehicle. I have been in a couple of hard slides in regular cars where the belt kept me in place to get out of the slide. My mom? She got hit and thrown into a light pole in a big old LTD. the car made a "C" around the pole. She is convinced that if she had a belt on she would have been killed. Hard to argue with that. All I know is that it is a choice. And in my car, if you don't put on a belt, you've made the choice to walk and not ride with me. Mark
  17. David, I think a shoot and swap meet sounds great. At said swap meet would I be able to swap some cash for a few things I know you stock?
  18. I don't know if 3 is a majority or not but I like the regular version, even on my iPhone...but especially on my iPad. Don't want to cause extra work though...
  19. I have the 9 pro with some apex goodies. Very soft shooting. It is a little slower for me than my sigs on first shot out of the holster but the rest of my splits are faster with it. The sight is like a big flashing beacon saying shoot!
  20. Is there a setting I can change to keep this from happening? Thanks, Mark
  21. Pretty sure that dropping a gun 1 time in a class is not going to program an automatic response in the heat of the moment. You need multiple repetitions of this to make it become a habit. Thus, using a wood mock up or a blue training gun becomes ideal. But, to be fair, there should be no realistic expectation of making anything you learn in one class automatic. The class should show the technique and then there should be a lot of practice at home to cement the lesson permanently in the old noggin. But, to get back to the origins of this post; I'm glad the OP enjoyed the class and that learning occurred. If this inspires others to take classes there and learn then that is even better. Nothing else really matters. Mark

    Justified

Hmmm... He brought a knife to a gunfight. Did pretty well too...
  23. I agree that is a valid teaching moment and one that I have had several instructors make. Most of them used blue training guns or wood mock ups to make that point. The only valid reason to drop an actual firearm is to show that it: 1) won't go off 2) it will most likely work after being dropped. No other reason to use an actual firearm for that part of the training ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As far as safe queens go it is hard to bring what you don't have to a class.
  24. I'm glad you had a good class... I've dropped pistols and carbines before during training. If you are pushing hard it can happen. Purposely throwing a handgun down just to show that it truly is drop safe is a bit extreme to me. I have seen other instructors do it but only on their personal guns. I'm not throwing mine down just to prove a point that I already believe. Getting ridiculed for not participating in that drill would probably not go over well with me. I have friends that I trust 100% that have taken classes there and really enjoy it. I have other friends that I trust 100% that left before the end of the first day due to poor instructor attitudes and getting lip from the instructors for not participating in things the student considered unsafe. If you had a good time I think going back is a great idea. I have a couple of places that I go back to every year. I also try to add one new school or instructor each year to continue to get different experiences. I always get something good or bad from each new school. I hope you offer other AAR's as you continue your training journey, Mark

    nylon 66

I put about a gazillion rounds through one of these. I don't think it was ever cleaned. Technically it was moms rifle. It disappeared somewhere over the years. I sure wish I had it...
