  1. I'm in for a .41 magnum before my next trip out west. I think that with some buffalo bore ammo will be sufficient.
  2. Shot about 400 small rifle and another 100 of the 5.56 primers (I think sometimes labeled small rifle magnum) this weekend with 100% success. It will be a few more weeks until I can do any accuracy testing but so far everything went boom when it was supposed to. Mark
  3. Horribly misleading...
  4. Above notes are good, especially wet trial run. Don't forget to dry the turkey as much as possible. Moving to a infrared cooker this year. Father-in-law has developed an issue with peanut oil. I've heard pretty good things about the infrared cookers. Look up recipes for Frogmore Stew. Something else good to cook in your turkey fryer...
  5. Driving in from Williamson isn't bad usually. Every now and then a wreck slows things up but it seems we get fewer wrecks than they do going east on 40 or 24. It takes about 6 months before you get to learn the secret handshake down here though...
  6. If you will point the pistol slightly downhill they will do much better. It helps to have gravity on your side.
  7. I like the 15 round mec-gars a lot. I wish I could find a better baseplate for my 12 round mags. I too like the cooler weather. During hot weather I can't carry IWB during the work week. When winter gets here sweaters and vests make it easy. Mark
  8. Lots of fun stuff going on now. For example: we have New York city issuing a transit alert following the arrest of someone who wanted to build a bomb. The great thing about this guy is with all of the people that live there the ONLY people he could find to talk to about it were undercover FBI agents? And his vast connections warrant escalating the local terror alert to the highest it's been? Doesn't pass the smell test for me.
  9. Beltman makes a great belt. It really makes a difference when carrying all day.
  10. Now here I was trying to be all neighborly and helpful and you have to come in swinging a big old bucket of mud around...
  11. Nice... You know, your brothers here on the forum would have been happy to go take care of that pesky old thing in your absence... right? Mark
  12. Midway has those bullets on sale for 38.99 per 500. That works out to 7.80 per hundred which is the cheapest price I've seen lately. Just thought you would like to know.....
  13. We towed our jeeps out to Leadville 6-7 years ago. Got there on 6/2 and it snowed. I was happy about it as I thought there would be a dusting up on the trails the next morning. A little pre-trip research would have revealed that the trails around there don't typically open until July. We putzed around for 2 days and headed on home. Sigh... I feel your pain.
  14. Hmm...I've loaded 5-6k and shot at least 1k and had only 1 failure to fire. This from a brand new reloader. Pretty sure it is easy to get a bad batch of anything... Mark
  15. I'm sure we will find out that a rogue 700 was responsible for the shooting at the pentagon the other day.
  16. Yes, I am an old fart. I remember the very first time I got to vote. My boy Reagan won that year. I remember how excited/proud I was to get to vote. Every election since then I've felt good about voting. I may be depressed about a lot of things going on but election day is always a great day. I voted early today. I usually don't vote early but when I realized that voting early would allow to avoid my regular polling place ( a school - no carry) I decided to give it a shot. It took me about a minute. So yes, I am an optimist. But at least for today, the fact that we live in what is STILL the greatest country out there makes me happy... Mark
  17. My feeling is once that door is kicked open it is going to be kicked WIDE open...
  18. I have some I can bring.
  19. Speaking of APEX, keep your eye on them. They have a couple of new & exciting products coming out as soon as the patent stuff is cleared up. If they keep coming out with cool stuff I may have to get an M&P for myself...
  20. Bill Rogers is extremely top tier. I don't know anyone who has been that came away disappointed. The classes are typically very challenging. Mark
  21. I should be able to make that...
  22. It works well. I now prefer the sqeeze bottle as it is a little faster and easier when traveling. Some of our customers have dirty air - Coal fired power plants, machine shops etc... I'm amazed at what gets flushed out at the end of the day when I've been on site most of the day. Mark
  23. 10-4. If anyone else in Nashville has anything they want me to carry just let me know so I can get it. I will be driving over next Thursday morning
  24. I think I can come up with the following: 300 weatherby, 7mm weatherby, 30 carbine, 338 remington, 5.7 x28 and I don't think I saw 357 sig in your list. I will be driving through Knoxville around noon on Thursday 10/7 on my way to NC if that works for you.
  25. I like my Dillon 550 a lot. But... Being a complete novice when I bought I assumed (and yes, I understand what ASSumed means) that all progressives were auto indexing. It didn't even occur to me to ask. One other good thing about the Hornady is that there are a lot more retail outlets that stock accessories etc... Mark
