  1. Hope this helps: Brief intro: http://www.fulton-armory.com/SLED.htm For Sale: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=998298 You'll also want the 2 round clip: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=311304 Welcome to High Power!
  2. Hey, you are very welcome. I am at sea at the moment, but hope to be home in November. Back in the day, I shot Fleet matches, it'd be a lot of fun. If you want to practice for matches, you are going to need a SLED - single round loading device - and a clip modified to hold 2 rounds, unless the rules have changed. I know a couple of kids that I plan to introduce to those carbines. Thought I'd missed my chance at them, but CMP reopened ordering on the 8th, and I snagged a couple before they ran out again. Those CMP select grades are beauties, judging by yours.
  3. BangBangBangBangBangBangBangBang PING! Thats' a fine iron lady you have there. She'll do you right. I plan to order a case or two of the greek myself shortly. On a side note, just got the 'shipped' e-mail from CMP on my pair of Inlands.
  4. Seeing as how you didn't buy a glock, you can shoot at my place! Grinning, Ducking, and Running............ Mark
  5. Fury2Neon, Welcome to the club! I have a pair of CMP M-1's at home, one an IHC, the other an H&R. The H&R shoots like nobodys' business. Didja pick up any of the greek ammo? If you ever get up my way when I'm home, bring your rifle!
  6. I remember those colored plastic framed things. IIRC, they had one in clear! Been years...
  7. Sigh... and the Witness? You picked it out! Gee, see if I give you one at your next wedding! (grin)
  8. Any updates on this? My wifes' new toy should be in on Friday - finally. 6 month wait on the gunsmith. Don't want her to make a wasted trip.
  9. Below taken from ODCMP rifle sales page. I'm in port at noon, and my app goes out today! Update - 8 August, 2008: INLAND CARBINE UPDATE. As of 9 Aug, 2007, all orders for Inland carbines have been filled and shipped. This does not include those on NICS delay or in our problem file pending the receipt of eligibility information from some customers. If you have placed an order for an Inland carbine and not yet received it, please email custserve@odcmp.com. Our I&R process has graded several hundred more Inland carbines as Service Grade than we expected. As a result, Inland carbines (while quantities last) are once again open for mail order and for store sales. Inland carbines are now in stock at the South store, and will be on the racks at the North store when it reopens on 6 Sep. Our limit of one per customer (for Inland only) has been discontinued.
  10. Rabbi, Incorporation, as in the 14th amendment, would cause the second amendment to act as a restraint upon the several states, regardless of what the individual state constitutions might say. It would require the states and the federal govt to provide equal protection under the law, require substantive due process, and require a much higher hurdle for denying or infringing. If SCOTUS affirms the Parker case, no matter how narrowly - and it would be damn hard for them not to, as the decision was comprehensive and well founded - then all the circuit courts are required to affirm that the second is an individual right - not that national guard nonsense. If SCOTUS overturns, then we're still in the same boat we are right now, dependent upon the state constitution. It would, indeed, have very little effect on us here in Tennessee. Until someone sued the state over having to pay a fee for exercise of a recognised and protected constitutional right. Thus were poll taxes done away with. That the case even reached the DC circuit court of appeals indicates to me that we are in the midst of a paradigm shift regarding gun ownership. OC is not always the wisest choice, but I feel that making that choice as often as is prudent isn't a bad thing. Be a role model. Be a positive example. How else will negative stereotypes be countered? "Oh, heck, Ol' so-n-so carries all the time, and he's a real nice guy. Maybe gun owners aren't bloodthirsty gang bangers or wannabees after all". "Take not counsel of your fears"
  11. Manually operated safety, single action trigger. It's the way I was 'brung up'.
  12. Rabbi, the Parker case could conceivably lead to incorporation of the Second. What does that tell you?
  13. Make that "allowed to carry legally". In point of fact, some will carry regardless. I agree that paying for a 'permit' is an abrogation of my rights. It does nothing to enhance the public safety, it does nothing to restrict those who would do evil. Even if it did - it is still an infringement, and as such, should be attacked at every opportunity. Allowing someone to tell them they couldn't be armed, and going along with it in order to show what good citizens they were, has been a dead end road - literally - for millions. How far would accepting restrictions, and not pushing the boundaries on their civil rights, gotten people? Where would we be today if the colonists had shrugged, decided that disagreeing with the king was a waste of time, and given up their arms? Accepting restrictions and infringements without complaint or challenge isn't 'accepting reality'. It is, instead, deciding to sit on the back of the bus because you are afraid of the fight. Its' deciding to go ahead and get on the cattle car, because there isn't anything you can do. I guess for some people the will to fail is a powerful force. Losing a battle doesn't mean the war is lost - unless you give up. Over the last 40 years we've lost a lot of battles. On the other hand, in just the last 10 we've started to win quite a few, and most folks would agree the tide is turning in our favor. It would be great to wake up tomorrow to Alaska/Vermont style recognition of our rights. It isn't terribly realistic to expect it, nor is it terribly adult to whine and sulk about it. The DC case is almost certainly going to the SCOTUS. What if we lose? Well, so what? At one time the Supreme Court found in favor of slavery, in favor of segregation, etc. etc. Doesn't mean I'll sigh, shrug my shoulders, and turn my pistol over to the nearest LEO. What if we win? You think that means we'll never face those who want to disarm us again? This country faced that 230+ years ago, and as a consequence wrote a very clear amendment to the bill of rights. This fight will never - NEVER - be over. DaveTN, I accept that you had a difficult time. Sorry to hear it. Even sorrier if you continue to 'doom and gloom'. We didn't get to where we are today by accepting dumbass restrictions and telling each other that things can't change for the better. You lost a round. Get back on your feet, man. Down isn't out unless you quit.

    AR, AK?

I'm wanting an m1 carbine myself. CMP got more than 13,000 Inlands. They are selling 1 to a customer. The Inlands sold out in 18 days. September 4th, CMP starts accepting orders for the Underwoods, which was the next largest pile, so to speak. They have 3,200 Underwoods, and expect to sell out in 1 or 2 days. I may not be able to get my order in on time - I'll be at sea most of the remainder of the month and probably won't be able to get the order notarized and mailed in time. Dern it. The carbine is light and handy. While not a 'riflemans' rifle' - 100 yards effective range - inside of 100 yards, and especially at common SHTF range (home defense, for example) 15 rounds of .30 carbine, ballistically similiar to the .357 magnum - especially loaded with soft hollow points, will certainly get the job done in a workmanlike fashion. The size and weight make it an attractive companion for walking the woods. The light recoil makes it an option for training young, or female shooters. Well, not comprehensive marksmanship training, to be sure, but certainly a fun introduction to centerfire long arm. I have had AK's. I have had AR's. For home defense / GP fun, I'd recommend the carbine. Heck, get yourself a CMP carbine, and if you don't like it, we can do a swap on an M4(gery). Hey, I've just offended BOTH sides of the AK/AR argument. How cool is that?
  15. MC30707, Thanks, but I am trying to steer clear of 9mm. I no longer have any pistols in that caliber, and I'd like to reduce my reloading requirements, so I'm planning on dumping my dies and brass next time I am home. The 12 ga. pump is the most attractive so far - especially if I could find an Ithaca M37 in stainless.
  16. Again. Those who say that violence is never the answer, haven't been asked the right question.
  17. I've been to CCA once. Picked up an unusual purchase (norchester '97 riot gun clone). Unusual because I inquired about it on Tamaras blog (I was overseas at the time). She quoted me a price, I made a phone call, and picked it up 4 months later when I returned to the states. Price was quite fair, and at or below prices I had seen on that model around the net. The only ones I had seen cheaper were the 'dealer seconds' that I knew had gotten into circulation - poor QC, pitted reciever castings. Very satisfied with the experience. DaG, I have a young mountain of 9mm brass for which I have no use. Sold off my last peashooter a while back. When I'm back in port and at home, will try to remember to post. Somewhere between 3 to 5K, if I recall correctly. That should hold you a month or two.
  18. If its' time to bury them, its' time to dig them up. These days, I'd usually rather have more ammo than another gun.
  19. Careful Kid, you'll shoot your eye out! Nice gat, Joe. Congratulations!
  20. Phantom, yeah, I know... Chosin gave a whole new meaning to cold. Thanks for looking out for mags! I'm planning on ending up with two of the war babies. Have to, I know already that my wife is gonna steal one from me. Rangewise, the carbine should easily be good to 100-150 yards. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for getting them to shoot straight. They should function pretty well with jacketed hollow points, too - Hmmm... a new candidate for trunk monkey? Boomhower - whats' the difficulty? Is she a 'hates guns' person? Believe me, if someone says that violence is never the answer, they've just not been asked the right question.
  21. Phantom6 - congratulations. On both of your babies! Gotta be a gunshow coming up soon, keep an eye peeled for us, will ya? I'm 'east tennessee hills' too, when I am home. Just outside Kingsport.
  22. A side note - remember the stories of how, in the Korean war, the carbine was too underpowered to penetrate chicom clothing? http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/CMP_Carbine_Notes_2007.pdf Turns out the postwar (WW2) ammo was under loaded, dishwater weak.

    CMP Carbine

Hi Folks, Never, ever, go to the CMP website when you have time on your hands. Really. I did that, noticed that the Inland carbines are all gone, CMP is out of GARANDS, for cryin' out loud - but carbine orders open up again in September. Lucky me I won't be home until November, maybe. On the other hand, I can fax all my info to them. How cool is that? So I did, and my order will be in come September. Meanwhile, though - anyone have a handle on some 15 round USGI mags? At any sort of decent price? I'd like to get my sweaty hands on about a half dozen.
  24. M1907, specifically Turners - sorry that won't be much help to you, I know. Great for precision shooting, though!
  25. And this, I stole from another forum - a poster by the name of Cosmoline... Did you look in the Constitution? Because I'm telling you, federal criminal law and law enforcement are at the core of it. I mean, how could we have a Republic without federal criminal law? It's not like we'd just invent federal criminal law enforcement to impose an insane federal booze law. And if we did, it's not like we'd forget to disband those agencies after that booze law was repealed. And there's no way we'd expand it after the booze law was gone, to fight an imaginary crime wave. And there's absolutely no way it would become the personal mob of a very odd cross-dresser who would use it to blackmail Presidents. There's just no way!
