  1. PCRC11 hit a sore spot of mine right on the head. All of the special intrest channels that used to carry programming dedicated to what ever area of intrest the channel is named have now gone to reality. HGTV now shows people shopping for homes instead of how to DIY, History shows pawn shops and pickers not history, the food channel shows have all become cooking competitions and a lot of the shows on every channel including network have somebody getting voted off or eliminated every day. The only thing good if there is anything good about it is that if you leave the room and come back you haven't missed any of the story line because there is none.
  2. I had seen enough advertisments for it that I looked it up on line and watched part of the 1st episode. I was just curious what it could be about. I turned it off after 10 minuets. I still don't know what it's about and I don't thing the producers do either. Total waste of time.
  3. My part time job while I was in colllege was a flight instrucor. There were really very few people that were afraid of little planes and I only had one person that just couldn't learn. Most people loved the intro flight. I'm still amazed at the number of person that, in the fall, would want to fly over the Smokies and Cades Cove. It wasn't unusal to make 3 or 4 trips a day. It also wasn't unusal when there were kids for the parnet to ask if the child could sit in front. I would agree and let the child "fly" the plane after getting to altitude. I also flew fire patrol one year for the state forest service. I would fly from Downtown Knoxville each morning to Rockwood and pick up a forest ranger. He had a handheld radio, a GPS, and a map board. Once I took off he would fly a route around East TN. I stopped in the middle of the day for fuel and then handed him the plane. At the end of the day I would land let him out and go back to Knoxville. I miss flying but taking care of sick family members I don't have time and I also don't have the money.
  4. I found it also by accident a couple of years ago. Been here ever since. Welcome and yes there is a lot of info here. These folks know a lot more than me.
  5. You have me curious but the website just gives what I assume to be cell phone number for each indiviual. No address, no e-mail etc. Reading the description the basic safety class is to teach a person who has never fired a gun how to do so. Problem is that they teach it @ your residence which means unless you can shoot at home there is no live fire and probably should not be any live ammo present. It looks like they work out of their car.
  6. I don't have an opinion on using the area for hidden firearm storage however another possible use comes to mind. In the event of tornado this might be a safe area and in my view if that's the case personal safety trumps firearm security. If you have a basement, storm shelter etc. then just disregard the suggestion.
  7. We are a tow motor crazed nation
  8. Welcome to Tennessee. I've been here all my life and have no desire to leave even if we don't have beaches.
  9. I used the urinal in the Orlando airport next to ESPN's Chris Fowler (actually I've seen a lot of celebrates passing through airports) and the Almond Brothers lived next door to my wife when she was growing up in Daytona . That's about the best I can offer .
  10. Mike mentioned having to go to Straw Plains and another member referenced calling to get the renewal by mail per the instructions on the TDOS webpage from Vols link. I thought you could receive and submit a renewal application at any DOS site and that only a new applicaton have to go thru a full service DOS office. Am I wrong or has that changed?
  11. Clean it. You don't know if has to much grease or none. I normally clean my EDC after it's fired just so that if a question came up about who fired shots I can demonstrate the weapon has not been fired.
  12. I have a CW-9 that has become my EDC and after I got it broke in is has been 100% reliable. I still call my Glock my shooting gun and the Kahr my carrying gun just because after shooting several rounds the texturing on the back of the Kahr turns my hand red.
  13. I swear officer I wasn't texting while driving, I was just reading TGO
  14. Rather than asking my wife you would have to ask my employeer
  15. My wife & I both have LifeLock. Last year between the 2 of us we had 3 ID theft attempts. All 3 times the CC co. was able to determine prior to allowing them that the charges were fraudulent. In my wife's case the CC co. called her cell phone to ask if she was attempting to make a transaction and when she confirmed she wasn't they refused the charge. In one of my cases the CC co. just refused the transaction and e-mailed me and in the other the CC co. (different provided) canceled the card without notifying me. In both cases I don't know how they determinded the charges were fraudulent. In the 2nd case I didn't know the card had been canceled until I was trying to pay a dinner bill and was rejected. In none of the 3 cases did we ever hear from LifeLock. I do get quarterly e-mails advising that my credit reports have "been monitored" and that there has been no change.
  16. BTW My birthday is Friday if anyone wants to send me a present!!!!
  17. This is a total guess with nothing to back it up but my guess would be that the small precent of regular folks on here probably reflects the small percent of HCP holders that actually use their permits.
  18. I had an incident similiar to Thunderbolt. I has a person approach me at the BP tavel stop 1 exit north of S. Pittsburg asking for money to buy a tire at the Wal-Mart in S. Pittsburg saying he couldn't make it any futher on the interstate on his little spare. I turned him away and saw him driving away in a car with no little spare and entering the interstate going north toward Chattanogga not south to S. Pittsburg.
  19. Gotta give the Buckmark some love here but they are all fine litle handguns.
  20. What everyone else has said plus I don't want the gun rubbing my side or poking in my ribcage.
  21. I concur with BrasilNuts and will add not only spend a day but also spend a rainy day so you can see where the water comes from and where it goes. You can't see water problems on dry days. It's amazing the number of civil disputes that occur between landowners when one person property drains/washes across an adjoing parcel.
  22. I use Auto Owners and have several vehicles and my home insured with them. I have two riders on my home owners policy one for firearms and one for jewerly. The firearms are all listed by description and seriel number. I declared the value to be what they cost new which totals about $5000 and the cost for the rider is $49.
  23. We have both here. ORSA is located directly behind the City wastewater treatment plant. ORSA and the City get along fine and there are two gates between the two properties. Along come Mr. & Ms. developer who purchase several acres of the adjoing farm. They extend the road that goes to the treatment plant and that the back gate to ORSA is located on. This road which was previously basically a dead end driveway becomes the main road throught the development. Now they complain about the smell of the treatment plant and the noise from ORSA.
  24. In concurance with the OP It's clear that eliminating the commission from large sales and special orders is a pay cut for employees. Regardless of what effect it has for customers or the company I've never liked it when employees that were hired with certain expectations have pay or benefits taken away and told to like it or leave. However my own personal experience with Lowe's commissioned sale personnal was much less than satisfactory. The largest single home improvement store purchase I ever made was @ Lowe's in 2005. I bought all new doors and windows for my house. The total purchase was $10,000 and over the course of placing the order I had to deal with two different employees depending on who was on duty at the time. The experience was not pleasant due to the obvious infighting between them. My gut told me at the time that I should have discontinued the effort to make the purchase. To make matters worse I purchased front and back doors to match. I had the Lowe's representative do the measurments. The measurments were correct but one of the two employees ordered the back door incorrectly (to large/wide). The employee ordered a standard size door and do not look to see that the measurments indicated a narrower door. Unfortuntaly the back door wasn't manufactured in the smaller size meaning that a back door couldn't be purchased to match the front which was already installed. If the employee had correctly told me the door I wanted wasn't manufactured I would not have purchased either door since I wanted them to match. Lowe's refursed to do anything to correct the problem but did offer to have the door custom made if I was willing to pay them the additional cost of over $1000. Lowe's ultimately dumped the problem on me to solve. I ended up spending my time and effort to solve their problem by locating another vendor who could provide an acceptable door that was similiar to but did not match the new front door. More unfortuntaly I had to get my attorney involved in order to force Lowe's to refund the cost of the incorrectly ordered material and pay the other vendor for the replacment door.
