  1. I don't own a Sig but would seriously look at one if I didn't already have a Kahr CW9. If I had a bigger gun budget I'd buy it just cause I want it not cause I need it. I split time carrying the Kahr and my Glock and when I carry the Kahr I split time between pocket and IWB. To me the small guns are for carry and SD. I prefer shooting the Glock 50 rounds thru the Kahr and my hand is red but the Kahr is more comfertable to carry and easier to conceal.
  2. A lot of people carry flashlights, blankets, jumper cables etc. in their cars but if you have ever been stranded for hours on a road in winter weather where the traffic stopped due to accident(s) or ice any having one of these in your emergency supplies would be good. This is especially true when you've just had the 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee in the morning are on your way to work and find the road blocked with cars everywhere. I had this happen a few years ago and after a while the ash tray started looking good. Back when I flew small planes a lot I always carried one.
  3. I've known for a long time that I would have to be my Mom & Dad's guardian as their age increased and their health decreased. I went to an elder care attorney and entered into a life care plan contract for each of them. This contract basically provides legal services, for all estate planning, health care issues, issues dealing with goverment agencies, nursing homes etc. for the rest of their lives. It does not provide for probate service after death or provide representation if they were to be sued because of some unrelated issue. This was a one time fee regardless of how much or how little service Mom & Dad may need and regardless of how long they live. The cost, $5000/person, may seem high but this firm has willingly volunteered help on several occasions. I actually beleive the service has been worth it. As far as myself and my wife we used a local attorney for wills, POA & living wills at a cost of $250/person.
  4. Welcome to TGO. I'm not sure if Tulip is saying it's expensive to live in Oak Ridge or shoot in Oak Ridge. If the later then I would disagree and advise you look @ the Oak Ridge Sportmans Assoc. (ORSA) website. Oak Ridge has one of the largest gun clubs in the southeast including a 1000 yard rifle range. I beleive it is the largest non military range east of the Mississippi. Membership is only $120/year. The site is large enough that ESPN has used it and there are members from all over the eastern U.S.
  5. Pretty much what ever one else has said. I carried for 6 months before my wife ever noticed. The 1st time she asked something like what do have that "thing'. One night the car started acting up when we were on I-75 somewhere between Chattanooga and Knoxville where the road is dark, the traffic is light and the exits are far apart. Then she said please tell me you are carrying that "thing". Now she understands.
  6. Back in the old days we had to wait the entire 90 days (66 for me). If they get much quicker they may begin giving them to you while you stand in line.
  7. Welcome Make you a real deal on some ocean front property and a bridge
  8. Must have been a very tall curb
  9. I had an opportunity to read the article. In summary it says the DA believed the officer or officers were justified in pulling their weapon(s). It does not explain why or discuss the circumstances. It does name the officers. It says the status of both officers remains unchanged and that one of them is still on modified duty. It does not say why or which officer.
  10. The morning print edition of the Oak Ridger says the DA has cleared the officers but that the police chief will do an internal investagation. The story is not posted on line yet and I did not have time to read it before leaving the house. I'll try to get the office copy in the next hour or so.

    Glocks

    What Slappy and Savage said!!
  12. I prefer round butts, OH you mean the gun I have a blue 37 and have seen them for $500 to $800 so I think your deal is good.
  13. I bought a new Honda a couple of weeks ago and also notice the 0-20W recommendation. I'm old enough now that I don't crawl under cars like when I was young. We are on our 4th & 5th Honda and for the few $$ difference I'm like UncleJak we have the dealer do it. I expect to pay the same the 1st time I take the new 2011 for service as I presently pay for the 03. Most dealerships have contacts with oil companies for buy the product in bulk. Rusty Wallace Honda for years used Mobil produces because they were a Penske Racing sponser. I am curious to see what they brand and weight of oil they will actually provide.
  14. I used a .22 from CCA's rental counter and later bought a G19 as my 1st handgun.
  15. Tell us a little about CCA outpost. I live close, havn't had an opportunity to visit yet.
  16. I've never had an expensive pair so I can't compare but I have two pair of cheap/entry level/inexpensive electronic muffs from Midway and they are great. I recommend using them.
  17. Please thank him for his service and my thanks goes to all the men and women that do or have served
  18. There is an article on the front page of the print edition of the Oak Ridger this morning stating that KPD has turned over the results from their investagation to the Knox County DA. Oak Ridger is normally very slow to post on line if they post at all so I cannot provide a link.
  19. I have what may sound like a simple minded question and since I've not read all of the previous 157 posts and most likely not all of the media relative to this so the answer to my question may be out there somewhere. If I understand the physical position of the two vehicles Mr. Estep did not allow the officers to exit the parking lot in front of him or as he describes it "cut him off". That means Mr. Estep was in front of the officers. There is no clairifcation as to whether there were other vehicles behind Mr. Estep so therefore it 's not known if the officers pulled out directly behind Mr. Estep of if they had to wait on other vehicles and therefore whether there were other vehicles between Mr. Estep and the Toyota carrying the officers. If Estep was driving away then how did a confortation take place unles Mr. Estep stopped in front of the officers thereby initiating the confrontation. Also Mr. Estep claims he returned to his vehicle, drove to safety while following the officers vehicle, recording the license plate number and calling KPD. Again how could this be taking place if Mr. Estep was in front of the Toyota? Lastly how was the officers place of employment determinded just the vehicle registration?
  20. I lived in Key West in the mid 90s for about 8 months and like BryanP I also got married there. Still go there once or twice a year. The leather store everyone is talking about must be Leather Master. I forgot what street it's on but it's worth visting just for the entertainment value. I normally rent a house and I also normally take my carry weapon but don't usually carry it because it's too easy to stop everywhere for a beer.
  21. I have a pair of Ray Ban Aviators that I bought, drum roll please, 25 years ago in 1986, when I 1st took flying lessons. Other than those I usually use safety sunglases from our supply room with the little bi-focal magification insert in the bottom for reading.
  22. Thank you for your service
  23. 1 Don't shoot or kill them in the house 2 What Mike said or a trap 3 What Memphis said. I have had 2 instances where they are hoses, including the fuel line, off of vehicles. I found a nest in the bumper of my truck which isn't driven much and also on top of the gas tank. 4 By coincidence one of my employees just had to deal with it. The "Critter Getter" that she called put a strobe light in her attic and the squirrels left. She left it there and if they come she just turns it on.
