5.45x39mm a good choice or is ammo going to get scarce?
creeky replied to TGO David's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
On obama getting elected... I would prepare for the worst and hope for the best. (I would expect an across the board federal tax on all ammo. That money then collected and distrupted either to federal police agencies, or sent "back" to the states in the form of grants for more officers.) On 5.45 x 39... I've never shot nor did I know that they had uppers for Ar-15s. Interesting. Worthy of some thought. Who is making 5.45x39 uppers and mags? Myself, I think I would just lean toward 9mm. Maybe not as cheap, but mags are easy to find (now anyways) and you have the option of a can later. (Just my 2 cents...) -
Dern.... always liked Jerry Reed.

Oh that is sooooo... FUNNY!!!!

I have been reading some of the "Huffington Post" stuff. I'm pretty amazed at how quickly and venomously they are attacking this girl and Palin. It comes across to me as pretty low class, and that they are really worried about what Palin could bring into the race. Very hypocritical for the liberals to hollar "Family is off limits" then go on the attack when it suits them. Oh wait... I forgot... their liberals... they have their own rules and guidelines that they play by. Silly me.

When I have tough questions like this I always ask myself... "What would Jim Rockford do?" Mainly because I like the way it sounds out loud, ... but I digress...

My eyes never made it that far down... can't get past those alluring eyes!

...giggle... You said "exacerbated"... hehehe... On glocks... all things considered, if I hadn't been so prejudiced against them many years ago I'd be carring one now instead of an USP compact. A painful truth... but true all the same.

I've always heard the same thing. It's hard for me to get into my head though. Mainly because your reshaping the brass anyway. Then again maybe it is creating a lot more stress in that one unsupported area that can't really be seen that well. Not really sure so I would lean toward the side of caution. (And just not buy glocks. ) *I also wait thirty minutes after I eat before I go swimming.

I know most people say "Great receiver"... but I look for personality first... after your ammo is gone that is really all you have left.

I like the website a lot better. Gotta love good old wordpress.

You know... I had to replace my detent spring once because it had gotten mangled. I was wanting to shoot the next day so was in a hurry. So I went to a gun shop in the Franklin area. They charged me $3.50 for the spring. I smiled and paid the $3.50 (+Tax) and have never bought anything from there since then nor will I. (I had bought other accessories there before that.) Sorry... brought back a bad memory.

It's pretty good. It's based of the "Middle Man" Graphic novels Published by Viper Comics. Les McClaine does the art and has been advising on the set. It's geared more toward a younger age. My oldest (11) likes it. It's on ABC Family Channel. I like it. A good show to watch with your kids. He also has a creator owned title called Johnny Crossbones that is going to be published by Darkhorse sometime next year. (I hope!) Meanwhile you can read it online. Les is a super talented artist as well as known in comics as a really nice guy. So That is one reason I am raving about him and "Middle Man". I like it when good things happen to good people!

Just remembered a couple more... Dallas SWAT and I'm looking forward to "Sons of Anarchy" too.

Given enough notice, and making it a yearly event might braw quite a few members. Sounds like a great idea. *In the interest of full disclosure I'm also the stupid jerk that lives about 40 minutes from Owl Hollow and has yet to make it to a meet down there.

Watch mostly the History Channel and Discovery. The only real series I watch right now is "Burn Notice" on USA. It's campy, witty, reminds me a little of teh old Miami Vice in ways, plus it has Bruce Campbell in it! I've watched... • Scrubs • BBC's "The Office" (When it was on.) • The Office • BBC's "Extras" (on DVD) • Showtime's "Dead Like Me" (Excellent writing) • Really Liked "Johnny Bravo" (Cartoon network)... Hilarious! • Samurai Jack (Cartoon Jack) More for the art and layout than story. • Watched some of "Eureka"... but not really a fan of it. • Any old Twilight Zone when ever I stumble across it!

I argue that we are only in control of our own decisions, and actions... but it is the actions of others and "nature" that we do not. So as a by protect we are only in control of a very small portion of our lives. I can wear my seat belt, even take a defensive driving class... but that doesn't control the actions of a drunk driver nailing my car from behind and killing me. We can prepare for certain situations, but I can't control when, or how they will happen. Life is indeed a very random thing. I mean no disrespect when I refered to "Man's vanity". That was more a generalization of people in general. janwbrown616 - "There have been more people killed over religion then anything else.... " I would think "Envy", "greed", or "lust" would have higher on the list than "religion".

We all live our lives by something. Either through the view of a religious work (like The bible), personal experiences (that have shaped our perception), a particular philosophy (be it western or eastern) we have studied or popular culture (Cowboy movies, or novels that show men living by a set of ideals that seem right to us.) I try not to judge a man by the code he chooses to live by (or die by) or call him a coward or simple minded because he makes the choice to live by something I can't understand. We are all different. To each their own. The idea that we are in control is man's vanity. We like to think we are in control of our destiny because it makes us feel better, more secure, and in control. When I believe the opposite is closer to the truth. We can take steps to increase our odds (Wear a seatbelt, carry a gun, don't drink and drive)... but in the end we have very little "true control" over our lives. Which is but a vapor that appearth but a little while. (These are just my opinions and no better than anyone any other opinion. In fact... I would give them the same weight I give the stuff wrote on the back of a cereal box. )

Obama Flying The American Flag.....Upside Down
creeky replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is being used as a graphical image that corresponds with Obama's message... "Bush is destroying us... I am your only hope." The designers know exactly what they are doing... they mean it to convey exactly what it is suppose to convey... "A land in trouble and in distress". A rallying cry for the Liberal Masses that feel that Bush has "destroyed" life, liberty, and any pursuit of happiness. This (IMHO) is designed to help to remind everyone at the convention that there should be solitary at the convention... that they all have to pull together to save us from the "Evil Republicans". They want to keep the attitude that they are besieged on all sides and the sole hope of America depends on them electing Obama. A rallying cry if you will... "Save America! Vote Obama!" Talk about your "Kool-aid". Everytime I see an Obama sticker on a car I can't help but think... "Bless their heart. They can't help themselves... they're following a guy and don't have a clue why." Sort of like the piped piper leading the rats away from the city. -
That's the exact reason I wait for first hard frost! I call 'em "Wolves" too!
-
Hey "Jester"! Glad to see you on here! Anyone ever tell you that you look a lot like your brother? LOL!
-
I take my boys, but not this soon. I like to have a good hard frost before we start. Good luck on the hunt!
-
Thanks. I'm more of a paper puncher and bowling pin shooter myself, but I do enjoy Rabbit and Squirrel hunting though. I have always tried to get my boys to enjoy being outside if nothing else. I took my oldest down the harpeth and camped out when he was three. We have two "campsites" set up just far enough where you can't see the house. Now that they are getting older it's a big deal to be able to camp where they can't see the house! LOL!
