  1. There's a saying among electricians: "There are no old careless electricians." I would guess the same holds true for shooters. So, why take chances to save a few bucks? How much are your eyes worth? Don't shoot reloads. Do wear eye protection.
  2. The 9mm has vanished. But there is plenty of .40S&W handgun ammo, and some AK ammo, too, at the Signal Mtn store.
  3. El cheapo targets: a ream of 500 sheets of 8.5 x 11 typing paper: $5.00. 1 penny per sheet. Use a magic marker to draw a black dot in the middle. There you go!
  4. If neither of the guns interests you THAT much, why not just be patient, and wait for something that really floats your boat? I know! Waiting is hard when you have the itch!
  5. Who you calling fat? I resemble that remark! I'm too old and fat to hide out in the hills, that's for sure!
  6. I bet there is one point we all agree on: Heinlein was a great SF writer, and one of my all time favorites. I read his books often from my teen years and on up. I think my favorite novel was "Between Planets."
  7. All men are ________________ equal. They are endowed by their ___________ with certain unalienable rights. That's what the founding fathers believed. Those who reject their ____________, will be part of the problem, not the solution, to our nations troubles.
  8. There are stacks of Winchester Valu Pak 9mm at the Signal Mtn WalMart today (Feb 12). They are the 100 round boxes, and are priced for a few pennies under $20 each. There were about 30 boxes on the shelf around 2 PM today. There were also a few boxes of 40SW Blazer Brass at $12.47 per 50.
  9. Carry a few rocks to throw at them. They will run, especially if you hit them. Second, carry a heavy stick. Dogs are afraid of sticks.
  10. Thanks for the range report. The Bersa looks like a very nice firearm. I'm curious: do you field strip and clean and oil PRIOR to shooting a new pistol? And why don't you clean a new pistol until you have shot 250 rounds?
  11. I fully realize most of you are not used to thinking like this, but I'm quite ready to argue that atheists should be denied the right to vote or hold office. I won't say anymore about it however, since it might disentegrate into contentious wrangling. But I would just like to point out that forbidding atheists to hold public office is THE LAW OF THE LAND RIGHT NOW IN MANY STATES, INCLUDING TENNESSEE... State Constitutions that Discriminate Against Atheists Arkansas State Constitution, Article 19 Section 1 ("Miscellaneous Provisions") No person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of this State, nor be competent to testify as a witness in any court. Maryland's Declaration of Rights, Article 36 "That as it is the duty of every man to worship God in such manner as he thinks most acceptable to Him, all persons are equally entitled to protection in their religious liberty; wherefore, no person ought by any law to be molested in his person or estate, on account of his religious persuasion, or profession, or for his religious practice, unless, under the color of religion, he shall disturb the good order, peace or safety of the State, or shall infringe the laws of morality, or injure others in their natural, civil or religious rights; nor ought any person to be compelled to frequent, or maintain, or contribute, unless on contract, to maintain, any place of worship, or any ministry; nor shall any person, otherwise competent, be deemed incompetent as a witness, or juror, on account of his religious belief; provided, he believes in the existence of God, and that under His dispensation such person will be held morally accountable for his acts, and be rewarded or punished therefore either in this world or in the world to come." Massachusetts' State Constitution, Article 3 "Any every denomination of Christians, demeaning themselves peaceably, and as good subjects of the commonwealth, shall be equally under the protection of the law: and no subordination of any one sect or denomination to another shall ever be established by law." Comment: Apparently Non-Christians are not "equally under the protection of the law". Mississippi State Constitution. Article 14 ("General Provisions"), Section 265 No person who denies the existence of a Supreme Being shall hold any office in this state. North Carolina's State Constitution, Article 6 Section 8 "Disqualifications of office. The following persons shall be disqualified for office: First, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God." Pennsylvania's State Constitution, Article 1 Section 4 "No person who acknowledges the being of a God and a future state of rewards and punishments shall, on account of his religious sentiments, be disqualified to hold any office or place of trust or profit under this Commonwealth." South Carolina's State Constitution, Article 4 Section 2 "No person shall be eligible to the office of Governor who denies the existence of the Supreme Being; ..." Note: If you continue reading you will find that (in Section 8) the Lieutenant Governor must also meet the same qualifications as the Governor. Tennessee's State Constitution, Article 9 Section 2 "No person who denies the being of God, or a future state of rewards and punishments, shall hold any office in the civil department of this state." Texas' State Constitution, Article 1 Section 4 "No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."
  12. For citizenship: you were born here or have been naturalized, that's fine. BUT: I believe that only certain citizens should have the vote: 1) Those who can read the national language. Because if you can't read, then you will be ignorant, and ignorant people shouldn't vote. 2) Only those who are not on welfare, and who don't have a government job. No one should be in the position of being able to vote themselves money from the public funds. 3)If you pay no taxes, you should not have a vote. 4) Atheists should not have a vote. "The fool has said in his heart there is no God." 5) There should be only one vote per family. This would encourage families to discuss important issues with each other. If husbands and wives can't agree, they may as well stay home from the polls anyway, as they will cancel each other out. 6) Those who meet all the above, and are also serving in the military, or on a local police force, should get two votes per family. They have earned the extra vote by risking their lives for the rest of us. Of course NONE OF THE ABOVE will ever become the law of the land, but one can dream!
  13. I have a Dr.'s degree (Doctor of Ministry) from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. I'm not a physician. I have an honorable discharge from the Army. But I wish I had it all to do over again. Nuff said.
  14. My hat is off to all who serve America in our armed forces. But have you ever considered that serving our government, and serving your country, could turn out to be two different things? I think you should think real hard about that, and come to peace in your heart/mind about it, before you sign up.
  15. Yup, .380 ACP is scarce as hen's teeth.
  16. That's a very pretty revolver!
  17. Nothing at Sig Mtn WalMart, but at Hixson on 153 they have maybe a 1000 rounds of 223, and 400 rounds of 40SW. No 9mm and no .380. As of 1 PM, Feb 6...No 3006, and only 60 rounds of 3030...

    Kel-Tec PF-9

Here's my PF9 review.... http://www.mouseguns.com/pf9rev/pf9rev.htm It is a very nice firearm, but you need to spend time with it and make sure your particular gun is reliable with whatever brand of cartridge you use.
  19. I'm so proud! Took me about five hours to do the job. I know I should do this regularly, but I haven't done it for over half a year. Anyway, it's good to know that if my computer crashes, I will still have important documents and photos.
  20. What I saw was Winchester Valu Pak, and I didn't catch the price. But I have no doubt it is the least expensive you can find around Chattanooga.
  21. If you need some .380 for your Kel-Tec or Ruger little pocket guns, I saw some in the Hixson WM today (Feb 3)
  22. It's stimulating me to buy more ammo.
  23. I see you shoot all kinds of firearms, and are not a brand snob. Keep up the good work!
  24. Well, it seems the 30-30 is not as popular as it once was. There are so many other rounds to choose from. And people love speed and power. Personally, I can't see past 100 yards, and I hate recoil, so I will stick with my Marlin/Glenfield 30-30. I have skinny elderly shoulders, and recoil HURTS.
  25. There's a brand new Charter Arms .38 coming out now, and it is all metal, and weighs 12 ounces, to the Ruger's 13.5. Being CA, it will cost less, too. Guess which one interests me the most? http://www.charterfirearms.com/products/Charter_OnDuty_53810.html
