Congrats! Very nice AK, and your mods are good!

Take your rifle apart. Clean the stock and the metal parts separately. The metal parts should soak over night in kerosene, then spray liberally with brake cleaner to get all the cosmo off. Make sure the firing pin channel is ultra clean. Stocks: well, clean them off real good with kerosene, then as someone suggested, put your stocks in the hot sun for a few hours, and then clean again with mineral spirits. It may take several cleanings to get most of the cosmo out. You will never get it all out, because the wood soaks it up.

Sorry about your hard times. Others are getting laid off, etc. We all have to take care of ourselves by developing investments that the government can't take away. That's not easy to do. One way to do it is to keep on buying guns and ammo. The prices will continue to rise, so you have an inflation proof investment. You can start selling them off when you need retirement or emergency money.

Here's my Kimber .45...

I'm glad you like the rifles. They are pretty nice! I'm happy with the GLOCK. Got a couple of other 9mm pistols with the other proceeds. Happy with those, too. Merry Christmas.

GLOCK 27 in front pocket
mousegunner replied to mousegunner's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
My opinion is that those who have difficulty drawing the GLOCK27 from their front pants pocket probably have hands that are larger than mine, and when they grip the GLOCK, their fist gets too large to come up out of the pocket. But I have small hands, and it works for me, in my khakis. -
Hey man! I love your GLOCKS! But where is your G27?

Ron Paul has excellent ideas, but he lacks the leadership charisma to be President of the USA. I voted for Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution party. He would have made a good President, I think.

By the way, I have been experimenting with carrying my new (old but new to me) GLOCK 27 in my front pocket, and have found that it really works well with the Kel-Tec P3AT gun rug as a holster. (I'm carrying with an empty chamber for safety's sake, and because my grandchildren are visiting and likely to stick their hands in my pockets - who knows?) It prints square instead of like a gun, it seems well supported, and the draw ain't half bad. I carried it all over WalMart and an un-named mall today. It works! http://www.mouseguns.com/g27inrug.jpg

Renewal process in Chattanooga 12/03/08
mousegunner replied to mousegunner's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I never trust the gov to tell me the right way to do things. I always take more ID than they say is necessary, because for sure the guy or girl actually doing the work in the office is going to ask me for something the person on the phone said I didn't need. -
Six months is correct. It may take awhile to get your new card, but use your old one and the receipt for the $50 renewal, and you will be OK.

Merry Christmas!

WallyWorld has been selling .40S&W Blazer Brass for $12.47 per 50. Not bad, and a few dollars cheaper than the 100 round box of Winchester Valu Pak. I believe the Signal Mtn store sold out this afternoon. I got two boxes, and the guy behind me got clued in and took the remaining three.

I sent this to the Commissioner, I guess it wasn't necessary: To Dave Mitchell, Commissioner, Sir: I have recently seen a form in which you are asking schools which conduct classes for handgun permits to record the model and serial number of guns that are being used by the students. As you know, handgun registration is not required by law in the State of Tennessee. Are you not overstepping your authority to do this de facto handgun registration? Wouldn't those who teach these classes be justified in witholding the information you are requesting? Personally, I would like to ask you to please change the form you are asking the class teachers/providers to fill out. Handgun registration should be a matter of law, not just someone deciding to stick it on a form. Thanks, Marshall C. St. John Signal Mtn, TN

That's a beauty of a mousegun, and really professional quality photography! Congrats on a great purchase! I bet you will always have it in your pocket.

Now you can get a YUGO SKS mailed directly to your front door! What a deal!

Here is an actual photo of MY POCKET containing a g27.... As you can see, it is invisible. I'm using a leather pda keyboard zippered case for a "holster." Here's a photo. Cost me $7 for two on EBay, shipping included. It DOES print, but it looks like a book, not a gun. But it IS heavy!

That's Denny Crane's office rifle, you know!

The law that prohibits everyone from going armed on a school campus is blatantly and simply a bad law. The badness of the law is not self-evident yet to the public at large because our schools are presently very safe places. If terrorism ever increases within our borders, and if terrorists target schools, I believe people will insist that the bad law be eliminated. I remember reading a few months ago about a terrorist in an Israeli school that got dropped by a teacher with a firearm (legal in Israeli schools). I would love to see that trained and licensed school personnel be allowed, and even encouraged, to carry concealed weapons. (Concealed is best, lest they become first targets of bad guys). Anyway, my point is: THIS IS A BAD LAW. I hope the badness of it won't become evident in years to come, but it might.

The design of the holster in the pocket is the key to pocket carry for the g27. I'm testing something, and will let you know later how it works out.

There are a lot of new .380s out there, following in the footsteps of Kel-Tec. The Kel-Tec .380 has been on the market for many years, and has been upgraded a bit from time to time. It is a mature product, and therefore (in my humble opinion) a better gun than the LCP (which just had a massive recall) or the Kahr, which is just beginning to appear. A step up, still very affordable (half of the Kahr price) the Kel-Tec PF9. A very nice 9mm thin pistol that you can carry in your front pants pocket (not suit pants!). See http://www.mouseguns.com/pf9rev/pf9rev.htm

I bet if you keep it clean it will live longer than YOU do!

I like to carry in my front pants pocket. I have four guns I'm experimenting with. The P3AT and the PF9 are easy. The jury is still out on the P11 and the G27...

Here's yesterday's PF9 in olive drab....
