I would gladly pay $250 for a nice SKS, Yugo or Chinese, either one. The comments on the hi cap mags are correct. My experience is that even the "best" one, the Tapco 20 rounder, is not always reliable. Stick with the original 10 round integral magazine, and you will be good to go with an excellent rifle.
  3. Poak, The new stock is real, but it is in development, and not yet in production. I expect that one of these days HiPoint will discontinue the old carbine stock in favor of the newly designed stock. I predict it will sell like hotcakes.
  4. I have a web page with lots of HiPoint information: http://www.mouseguns.com/hipoint/hipoint.htm
  5. Today's guns classified ads have a LOT of good stuff I would buy if I were made of money: http://www.mouseguns.com/class/classads.htm
  6. Well, the prices aren't REALLY low, but decent. The Winchester Valupak is still the same, under $30 for 100 rounds. Blazer .45 was on sale for $13.87 per box of 50, so I got two of those. This was the Hixson WalMart (Chattanooga area) on Hwy 153.
  7. You got a good deal on a nice AK. They will soon be selling for $1000 each. Just wait and see.
  8. Don't forget to do the WalMart walk, and eat a bag of Cheetos.
  9. Here's a Mossy 500 for $179 at Silvers Firearms....Scroll down a bit... http://www.silversfirearms.com/usedfirearms.htm
  10. That's a nice p3at, and nice work on your pocket holster, too. I carry mine in my pocket every day in the little "gun rug" that came with it. http://www.mouseguns.com/ideal2.htm
  11. Walmart has Mossberg shotguns. I don't know if they are the Maverick or regular, but there's not much difference in price or quality, I think.
  12. I see there is a gun show at the National Guard Armory in Dayton, Nov 15-16. Can anyone give an address or directions from Chattanooga?
  13. Thank you all, gentlemen. I had no idea there were so many carrying 1911s. I believe I will go holster shopping.
  14. Do any of you carry a full size 1911 for ccw? What's your method?
  15. If you lift any sort of rifle to your shoulder in view of your neighbors you are liable to have the police called on you. I admit that I've shot bb's at a few stray dogs, but it's not smart. As far as blowing them away with your handgun, you must be joking! If a stray appears to be dangerous to you or your own pets, the best thing is to call the dog catcher and get the stray officially removed.
  16. Did you know there is an entire forum given over to nothing but the LCP? It is at... http://elsiepeaforum.com/forum/index.php
  17. No one answered my question, but that's OK. I don't know the answer, either.
  18. Question: Suppose a new weapons ban is passed into law, and due to go into effect toward the end of 2009. Suppose there will be an order to surrerender all banned weapons to the local police. Will the price of banned weapons go up or go down? I can see it either way. Maybe people really want these guns, so there is a demand and the price goes up. On the other hand, maybe a lot of people who already own these weapons will want to dump them so they can stay legal. Which is more likely, do you think?
  19. "suddenly becomes slightly uncomfortable" Well, I think no matter what you do, you will always be slightly uncomfortable with IWB carry. You could get a smaller gun, like a p3at, and carry in your front pants pocket. That's about as comfortable as it gets.
  20. This one is near Benton: Silvers Firearms http://www.silversfirearms.com It's out in the country a bit, and the fellow does it out of his garage, but he has a good inventory and can also order what you want. His garage is fixed up nice, and he has a lot of heads on the walls, as he is also a hunter.
  21. There's really only one solution here: you should get both! Use the 44 for fun. And take the Marlin 30/30 out for deer. The 30/30 is a lot more accurate.
  22. That's a nice sub, and I like the rails. Lots of options that way. I have a Beretta grip sub in 9mm, which I like a lot. http://www.mouseguns.com/sub2000/sub2000.htm
  23. The USA Constitution says that there shall be NO RELIGIOUS TEST to hold any official position in the USA government. You can be an atheist, a Christian, a Jew or a Muslim, or whatever. The problem comes when people of whatever stripe start making nuisances of themselves. I am totally against Islam. It is a crummy religion. But I will defend your right to be a Muslim, as long as you honor my right to be a Christian. Those who offer religious freedom have a right to get the same treatment back at them. It is people who have trouble with our Constitution that ought to get kicked out of the country, whatever religion they may be.
  24. You never know what a gun will sell for until you try. A friend of mine listed his hi point 9mm pistol for $200, and got what he asked of, no trouble. You can buy them new for $139 or thereabouts. And some people are happy to pay extra to avoid a paper trail.
  25. It's a Mosin. You can't break it. Take it all apart and put it back together again, half a dozen times, until you are sure it is right. You can do it! Also, search YouTube for some videos on mosin disassembly.
