  1. Too much BANG for my skinny 60 year old shoulder, but it's a beauty! Enjoy!

    Pink Walther

When I was in elementary school, I had a big pink eraser about that color. Maybe those pink guns will be used to erase some bad guys. Hows that for a name for a gun: "the eraser."
  3. Get a Sub2000! http://www.mouseguns.com/sub2000/sub2000.htm Small, lightweight, high cap mags, cheap 9mm ammo.
  4. I like my Kimber, too. Just one thing bugs me about the 1911 design, and that's the grip safety. Why? Why? Why? I've got a hunch Browning was forced to put it there by some government committee looking for more safety.
  5. But wouldn't a GLOCK 17 with a 30 round mag accomplish the same objective, and be even more compact? But, if you like it, you LIKE it!
  6. I like the "ghost in the mag" idea:). I'm thinking, too, AK mags are tough! Have you tried some sand paper or light filing on the mag lips? I bet that would open them up just enough. THEN grease em up!

    1st automatic

Just my opinion: I think a good FIRST semi-auto pistol for a "hip gun," as you put it, would be the Smith and Wesson sw9ve (9mm). It carries 16 cartridges, is durable and reliable, and feels good in the hand. It sells new for about $300. The trigger is fairly HEAVY, which makes it a safe pistol to carry to avoid accidental discharges. Follow the link for pictures... http://www.mouseguns.com/mysw9ve/sw9ve.html
  8. There are many models from many countries. Most common today is the Yugoslavian version, which is considered to be finely made. You can buy one in "like new" condition for less than $250. True Russians are considered most desirable, and may cost from three to four hundred dollars. Albanians are rare. Chinese models are collectable, and may be found in all sorts of conditions from really beat up to very nice. If you find a Chinese SKS that accepts ordinary AK magazines, well, those are rare. I saw one on gunbroker.com for $1000. There are a lot of "bubba'ed" SKS rifles out there, too. The best magazine is the original built in mag that holds 10 rounds. Tapco 20 rounders are said to be reliable. All other mags are doubtful. Ammo is the same as for the AK: 7.62x39, and sells for under $200 per 1000 rounds. I suggest you go to www.gunbroker.com and do a search for SKS rifles, and you will get a good idea of prices. The SKS is a fine rifle, and everyone should have one. If you buy an SKS, be sure to read up on the "sticking firing pin problem" before you fire the rifle.
  9. I wouldn't mind having my own A-bomb, but I doubt I could afford to buy one. I'd like a B52, too, but same problem.
  10. I seem to have a talent for those "already posted" items! Sorry!
  11. What do you think? Denny Crane for President. Here's the video... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTbo2CQJY48[/ame]
  12. If you like to buy guns without paper work, face to face, or at gun shows face to face, you better buy them NOW... We know what Obama wants, and here is a McCain video about "closing the loop holes..." [ame] [/ame]
  13. On my last purchase, I gave the fellow a scan of my TN ccw permit, and he was happy. I just wanted his name and phone number, which I already had from the classifed ad in the paper. The fewer forms the better, as far as I'm concerned. But I wouldn't back out of getting a gun I wanted, if someone wanted the TGO form. Giving it to a private guy is different than giving it to an FFL, in my opinion.
  14. So, velocity is more effective than the little bit of extra mass in the .22 bullet. Interesting. I guess my high school physics teacher was right.
  15. Thanks for the nice photos!
  16. I don't get it. These .17 rifles are being made by everyone, and apparently selling well. What can these bb guns do that I can't already do as well with my trusty old .22? Not that I'm against anyone buying one! No, if that floats your boat, go for it! I'm just surprised, that's all.
  17. I take no offense. I make no claims to intelligence. I commit lots of sins regularly, and will continue to do so. I just like to post every now and then. Blessings to all from mousegunner!
  18. I want one, too! But Jeff Cooper's comments from a few decades ago are interesting: The Barret single-shot 50 BMG is now selling well in the United States, and the Germans have come up with their own version of the same sort of piece. The item is very attractive to the eye, but I have not had the chance to shoot it. I have reason to believe that it will shoot very well. Its price is high and it is forbidden in the United States as a "destructive device" by the BATmen. I cannot regard this as any more than the usual annoyance I feel with government regulation, but I really cannot see a purpose for this rifle. It is doubtless great fun to shoot at medium-and long-range, if you can afford the ammunition, but the only really appropriate target I can conceive for it is the 55 gallon oil drum, suitably decorated. (Of course, you can hit that drum just as well with a 30-caliber rifle such as an M1 - but to bring up that point would be to spoil thefun.) My problem would be affording the ammo, and also absorbing the recoil!
  19. Congrats on your new sub2000. It is a unique and marvelous firearm. Mine is the Beretta grip 9mm model. Here is my write up with pix: http://www.mouseguns.com/sub2000/sub2000.htm It is the poor man's AK47.
  20. You've probably all seen this before, but it is worth posting again. How do an AR, an AK and a Mosin stack up against each other? http://www.mouseguns.com/compare.htm
  21. Everyone has different tastes of course. I would rather have an AK than an AR any day of the week. The Maadi is an excellent firearm, and hard to come by these days. It's definitely a KEEPER.
  22. It's a nice .22. I got mine from the Sears catalog...
  23. You remind me of the Lord of War movie. Did you ship any AKs? I've seen photos of lots of our guys with AKs. Lord of War trailer: [ame] [/ame]
  24. Standard AK mags are no doubt the right choice. Nice looking AK! Congrats on your nice work. Now you have a genuine Ruskie AK! Mine is a MAK90, which I like very much.

    Keltec P-11

I've had two P-11s and loved both. Why don't I still have one? Well, I'm always short of money, and I like to trade guns, and one thing leads to another. The P-11 does have a tough trigger, and it's not terribly accurate. But for close-up self-defense it is a winner, if you have one that is reliable. Mine were both reliable pistols. Now I'm carrying a PF-9 in my pocket (except on Sundays, when the P3AT takes over). http://www.mouseguns.com/ideal.htm
