  1. That's exactly what I was thinking as I sit here counting my pennies to get myself a knife in the first place. Anybody know who sells these locally?
  2. Colt Defender (When I bought this one, the wife already knew about the other Colt. I didn't want to hear the chatter I got from that one again, so I just dressed them alike to prevent hearing it all again. At a glance, she's never been able to tell the difference and thinks I only have the one Colt.) Colt Series 80 Kimber Warrior Springfield Armory Mil Spec. All in .45 acp I use this one on the kids. However, it's been classified as a revolver, but it's still up for debate
  3. Here's the number to call: 1-615-251-8590 I got my renewal form back around the last week in October 2009 and didn't mail in until the first week of November 2009. My HCP ran out in January of 2010. As of the middle of February 2010, (when I called)I hadn't even been processed yet. Finally got my new HCP around March 10, 2010.I've heard if you make the "phone call" and inquire nicely, the nice lady on the other end will find your paperwork and move you "a little closer to the front of the line". But, I'm not believing it. She will tell you that there have been cut backs and a new computer program setup that no one really understands it....please be patient. Never mind that your check has been cashed one week after mailing it in. Basically, what it comes down to is as soon as you get your renewal in the mail, fill it out, make out your check, and mail it in ASAP.
  4. I used to have those as a kid, but they don't survive the dish washer only after so many times of cleaning. The lunch boxes don't come cheap. Check eBay.
  5. I second. This adds character and conversation to the man cave.
  6. I can't believe this thread has lasted this long, but am going to have to agree with Garrufa. They'll do the same thing if you don't take off your hat....nuff said.
  7. Miller High Life (the champagne of beers)....bottled, not in cans.
  8. Here's the rundown on my status of renewal..... For those who would like to check on their status, here's the number BTW: 1-615-251-8590 The lady that I talked to was very nice and looked me up on computer via my driver's licence number (you can also use your SSN). She told me my backgroud had not been run yet and that they're on a new system and with budget cuts, they're really slow. They must have transfered all those employeees to running to the bank, they sure didn't waste any time cashing my $50 check. I seem to remember renewing on line the last time I renewed. It only took about 3 weeks to get my new HCP. I wonder what happened to that deal? Word to the wise: Renew your HCP 6 months in advance.
  9. I sent mine in November 6, 2009. The check cleared on November 19th. My HCP ran out January 30, 2010. I'm still waiting. Gonna make a call asap.
  10. I bought the Springfield Armory stainless version of the 1911 Mil.Spec. a couple of years ago, and have been hunting the Colt for a little while (as money allows). Congrats on your new "addition to the family". Post some pics....
  11. My : A) Elvis has finally stopped spinning in his grave. Michael Jackson's legacy...it was going fine until after "Thriller", he would have been remembered as a "pop icon", but from there he just got creepy. He'll now, just be remembered as a fruitcake or a freak. C) I hope edge3343 will sympithize with me when I say, "Here's 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back for reading and posting on this useless thread about Michael Jackson's death". I'm done, let's talk about guns.
  12. Let's hope they're widening the interstate for an extra lane. AND Let's also hope the signs come down once the work is done. Thanks for everyone's input.
  13. 60MPH doesn't shift my truck into overdrive. I'm burning more fuel in a lower gear. It's even worse for semi-rigs. Just ask any trucker. I like cruising 75 on the interstate. I'd better keep my eyes pealed. The speed limit change is probably because of all the wrecks....which is a shame because it's one of the least complicated portions of I-40.
  14. I was driving into work early this morning (between 4:30 & 5am). I drive to work in I-40 from the west to Nashville. I noticed that after passing the Kingston Spings junction the speed limit drops from 70mph to 60 mph. WTF? I'm practically in the middle of nowhere. I also noticed that the speed limit signs continued until I got to the Bellevue/Newsom Station junction where the speed limit picked back up to 70 mph only to drop back to the 65 mph which has been that way for years. Question?... What's the deal? *Has this got something to do with the fact that every 18 wheeler that comes through I-40 has a wreck or flips in the stretch around the McCrory Lane junction? *Is this a ploy by the "greenie weenies" to save fuel? (everyone knows that lower RPMs burns more fuel) OR *Is this the latest and greatest way to collect revenue via speeding ticket by just randomly lowering the speed limit on the interstate? Anybody know?...wanna venture a guess? Anyone?....Beuller? It sure would help to raise it back up. Traffic really gets bottle necked in the evenings coming home.
  15. My dad was right on the money way back when..... My first rifle was a Marlin model 60 and my first shotgun was an H&R Topper 20ga. They're still in my collection. They don't see that much action anymore and are cherished like gold. However, I will be digging them out of the safe for my sons and daughter to cut their marksmanship teeth on.
  16. 2006 Dodge Ram SLT Quad Cab 4.7 V-8
  17. Looks like Metro-Nashville is trying to politic themselves right out of business...or at least the restaurant business. I don't eat out that much, but when I do it's local - Fairview, Franklin, Dickson, & when I'm there, Columbia. I hope this stupid fad doesn't spread to Williamson and Maury counties.
  18. Welcome Aaron. Keep in mind, we do have the Country Cafe. Best breakfast in town if you can't get the wife or mom to cook for you that morning. May I also recommend The Farmer's Buffet in Dickson just off I-40 and 46 Hwy. Where do you go to shoot?
  19. I got some junk mail the other day from the Fraternal Order of Police and for a minimum donation, I, too could get a generic looking HCP badge and leather holder. Didn't even read it that closely after I saw the ploy. Tore it in half and tossed it in the garbage. HOWEVER, had it been a decoder ring, I might have bit.
  20. ...and isn't that all they're really good for.
  21. I really need to start hitting the boards before 11:30am. Sorry guys, I'll have to miss this one.
  22. Yep. He's an IDIOT alright. He's probably one of these guys that thinks he's the only one on the planet and it revolves around him.....i.e. talking on his cel phone loud and EVERYWHERE, getting on an elevator before anyone has a chance to get off, driving in the out lane, or down the wrong direction in a parking lot, and walking through the door in front of your wife while you're holding it for her. I see it happen to folks all the time. This guy/gal is everywhere.
  23. I know what you mean. My mom used to just go to the nearest place when it was time for service. After loosing a few hubcaps from a hasty tire rotate and a cross threaded oil plug...She's become pretty picky. She goes where I go, now. My dad has a company truck that he would take for servicing. The Quaker State places were bad about not greasing the front end even after returning and telling them to. Frankly, for most of us, If you don't have a grease rack or pit and a set of metric tools, you're pretty much slave to these places, anyway. You've got to be picky and when you find a place you like, it seems they have an employee turn over and the whole search starts again.
