I was thinking of getting an inexpensive AK for plinking with. I originally was thinking of a Saiga, but I think I've been talked out of it because of the huge availability of AK acutrements that cannot be found for the Saiga. So that opened up my field of choices considerably. Looking around on the net there are so many AK variants out there it is making my head spin. What do I need to look for in and AK, and what do I need to stay away from? Low price is going to be a big deal for me, and I don't mind slightly used. Any thoughts?

Very Cool!. I did something similar with my XD stock holster. I screwed it into the backside of my closet door. If the pistol is not on my hip, it's in the closet holster. It makes it so that the gun is hidden, mounted high enough the grandkids couldn't reach it, and accessable if I need it.

Connery was the best. I couldn't stand Roger Moore.

OK, I'll say it right up front - I'm cheap. I usually shoot at paper plates for targets. You get like 500 of them for $2, and they're pretty sturdy. But I like to learn stuff, and I love a project. So, I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to make something like those black targets that turn yellow when you shoot them.

Geez, what did everyone do 15 years ago before cellphones got so popular? If you really need to make an urgent call, pull over to a pay-phone. And like someone else said, an old cellphone that does not have service will still place a 911 call. How hard is it to find someone with an old cellphone in their junk drawer that would give it away? I've probably got four of them.

I don't see how that translated to "Thou Shalt not murder..."

I went to American Signature Furniture on Kingston Pike in Knoxville today. On the door is a ghost-busters symbol and a sign that says something along the lines of "We provide for the saftey of you and other customers. Firearms are not permitted on these premises". That is a paraphrase, but the basic idea is there. I did take a peek inside, as we were looking for something in particular. The sign was not legal, so I didn't have any problem entering. I thought about looking for the manager and finding out just how he was providing for my safety, but we were in a hurry, and to be honest, I didn't feel like a fight today. I may go ahead and call them or send an email to corporate and ask the question, and just let them know that I will not be a followup customer. Besides, I don't trust anyone for my safety. You want to help out? Great, thanks. But, don't try to force me to depend on you.

At least he will touch the flag, unlike other wannabe's that refuse to have anything to do with it.

I think I probably already know the answer to this question, but it occurred to me that some restaurants that may serve alcohol don't serve on Sunday mornings. I don't drink, so I am not familiar with TN law about Sunday morning sales. It was not legal in FL where I grew up. Anyway, would it be OK to carry into the restaurant in this condition?

I don't know, it looks to me like you would have a hard time not covering your leg with the muzzle if you had to pull it out.

Just curious, didn't your HCP class instructor go over this with you? He should have!

To me, what makes it look "blurry" is the multiple shadows under the gun. Get rid of those and I think the shot will be perfect. Very nice otherwise.

Ya know, I thought of that too, and picked one up at Wallmart earlier. When I got it home, I discovered how much I really stink with a slingshot. I'll be giving it a try, but I think the rat will win this round.

Too risky, our houses are about 30 feet apart, and the bird feeder bait is right between them.

I thought about that. My son has one and I may just borrow his. If I bought one, I'd rarely ever use it. A different neighbor caught my son shooting his several years ago and called the police on him. The cop never even knocked on the door, just took the guys' statement and left. I don't want to rile anyone up. I would use it for rat killin' but then it would sit. Plus, I just thought the blowgun would be fun.

My wife and I were enjoying breakfast on the patio, watching the birds at her feeders, when my wife said, "Oh, look at the cute squirrel." I thought it looked a little strange, so I took a closer look and it turned out to be one of the biggest rats I've ever seen. At that point, breakfast was over for my wife. Anyway, I live in Oak Ridge, so I can't use the .22, both me and the neighbor where the rat lives have dogs, so poison is out. Don't want to get a bird with a trap. So, I was thinking blowgun. Silent, rat-lethal, and sporting. I went by the local Wally world, but they don't have them. Any body have an idea where I might find one around here? Other rat killing, dog and bird friendly, don't get the cops called ideas are welcome too.

How about a big old official "Thank You" from the other side to the Northern states for setting them free. Or maybe personal letters of appreciation to the families of the thousands of men that gave their lives to end slavery in the Civil War. It's just plain rediculous. Also, take a look at the countries where most of the slaves came from. I know slavery sucked, but if their ancestors had not been slaves, most of the descendants today would be living in a grass hut somewhere, starving to death.

I agree. I never go to the range without the .22. It helps with aim and control, plus it helps extend my range time without breaking my ammo budget.

I have the ruger .22 and love it, so does the wife. Very accurate. The only bad thing about it is it is very difficult to field strip. I usually clean it the best I can with Q-Tips through the ejection port.

I'm sure you will enjoy it. I love my XD9!
