  1. I'm no expert. But i don't think the heat we have around here will affect the ammo/guns. If you are worried about the heat, I would advise on keeping a blanket or a reflective wrap around the firearm/ammo.
  2. With the ammount wal-mart pays people you do see the reason don't you. Wal-mart has to keep prices low, hence the crappy pay. Some people (as low down and shady as it seems) just have to make a little on the side. It is unethical but if people are willing to pay for the info, nobody is stopping them. I personally wouldn't do anything like that. Tipping is also not allowed, though i have seen it happen before.
  3. My parent's ate there back in the day when they were in college at UTK. Still we go whenever we're in the area.
  4. I'm suprised this place hasn't been mentioned before now.   In Knoxville area, Pigeon Forge.....Ye. Old Steakhouse   Supposed to be one of the top ten steakhouses in the southeast.
  5. Glad you had a good time at the GSMNP. Thanks for letting us all know how well it went. Didn't need the AR but i know you felt a bit better having it with you. I cc'd the last time i was there simply for the fact that i was with my brother( he's a liberal lawyer) and there was a lot of sheeple tourists.
  6. I never had the displeasure of encountering these little buggers til i moved to Fayetteville. I killed all the mounds on my property before they had a chance to set in. But my old job, they were everywhere. I don't see them here in Tullahoma, maybe the infestation isn't as bad in some places.
  7. Smitty, As for the big rigs not wanting to wait for you to pass them. They drive some of the biggest vehicles on the roads, What do they care about us little guys driving "fourwheelers"?  They'll do what they want because nobody except maybe a state trooper, is going to be able to do anything about it.   If people want to pass, let them pass. If they have to make a big stink about you going the speed limit and they can't pass you for some reason, They are the problem, not you. They can give all the middle fingers out they want, still like the kids on the schoolyards said behind every "bird" is a pile of Crap.   Tailgaters i'm not a fan of. Especially those driving these lifted trucks and having those overly bright ( blue) headlights that have to shine into my side mirrors. I usually laugh at them when they have to stop for gas a lot more often than I do.
  8. I almost need a bigger sticker for the back glass on mine.
  9. Mine's on my Durango. ANd i bought a couple of them and gave them to friends( who are on the forum) one is Mike, from CT. I bet he gets all sorts of looks by the CT "sheeples".

    Snake guns

It is a shame that the lives of snakes are held in higher regard than one's family members ( some of whom are so young, they don't know the danger they may be in). I'm sorry, but if i see a venomous snake near me i shouldn't be fined or arrested for protecting myself or my family.   So i won't be reporting any killed snakes on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. Kill them at last resort though. But if the girlfriend or wife( whenever i get married) shouts for me to kill it, well i got to make her feel safe.... ranger or no ranger.....
  11. There are dime a dozen brands out there making and marketing UTVs these days. You can do your research but i would check out a UTV/ATV themed magazine before purchasing anything. Get some info on the plusses and minuses of each one you are considering before you go for it.   Also talk with a couple dealerships, and just look real good before you decide to buy new.
  12. I hear ya, i have been back on the bike( mind you it's a mountian bike full suspension). Not many trails around my area but working on that. Hope to be able to lose as much as you have soon. With the weather the way it has been, shouldn't be a problem.
  13. Might not need it but if it makes you feel safer, i would carry it. A sprayed and alive bear is a lot better to explain to the Park ranger than a dead bear from a gunshot. Last time i was there we didn't see any bears though. Kinda dissappointing.
  14. It is not necessary. I would leave the rifle at home. I carried my pistol last time I was there. Like Jgrady said, tactical advanage.  Your chances of a worst case scenario is greater than winning the lotto ( if you feel so bad that something might happen, Buy a lottery ticket. You could get lucky).   As for having a rifle with me just for a short trip, I wouldn't worry with it. You should be ok with just a pistol.
  15. Marvin's isn't open on Sunday. Which sucks cause they would make a killin. I think they are open from 10 am to 9 pm. but it has been a while since i ate there. It is well worthit though. Home cookin, and a buffet. Just go in and set down, order your drink and head to the buffet lines. They have All sorts of fixin's and we wonder how much food they go thru each day. My dad love's their home made cobblers. They usually have quite a selection.
  16. Big ones to look for:   Yamaha Rhinos   Kawasaki Mules   Polaris Rangers   These three are the older models out there that you will find a lot easier and for a better( lower) price used than if you bought new. Most people who have the new Rzrs and other side by sides( UTVs) had something like these before they got into the sportier models. Least those I know that only trail ride more than work.   Maybe this helps, i hope so. If i can help you anymore just ask.
  17. As for depreciation it really ammounts to how many hours they have or miles they have and if it is taken care of there that adds to the value of the vehicle. To me, if it is taken care of it means less work for you down the road. Sometimes you can find one that has been hardly used and the owner is just getting rid of something he/she may not have used that much. You can sometimes find real bargains if you look hard enough.
  18. Since i couldn't get to the range and had to get out, went riding saturday in Hillsboro.   http://youtu.be/NzosVSn1G0g
  19. Fortunately for me, I know what crap Kwik pulled and know not to follow in his footsteps. Some people want to pull stuff like this all the time. Just it informs the former unknowing public of the kinda crap that goes on if you don't act like the cops think you ought to.   It is their jobs to enforce the laws on the books( i get that) but some seem to "bully" those uninformed of the law. This kid knew the law and they got caught admitting it on camera.
  20. Ok, if someone else maybe older and more curteous would go out to a DUI checkpoint and film video, you guys being a bit too critical would not be as critical. Maybe it's the first time the "kid" did this, maybe he's still learining on how to interact with officers at a DUI checkpoint.   Funny though how the officers anywhere start acting differently when they see a camera and it is filming.
  21. We had a Bonanza then a Ponderosa when i was younger. I still miss the old Western Sizzlin we had. Now it's a Casa de Mexico restaurant.
  22. I have been to New Jersey once in my life. And once was way to many times. I hear all the horror stories from friends who live there. And I asked them "Why not move?" Well the money people make up there is good and some people can't seem to move their family with them. Seems they have been "brainwashed" into thinking NJ and NY have more to offer than the south.   Let's see......Higher taxes, less freedoms, You can't pump your own gas in NJ ( state law). Firearms laws are PITA. Just getting approved to look at a gun before you buy is a PITA, then you have to apply for a permit to buy that gun. And eventually you have to have a permit to buy ammo for that gun and that gun only. ( which would be ok, might stop the crazy re-sellers). It's just not worth it.   Now i have friends in NJ, NY and CT and they can't wait to get out of there. Just them waiting on family and retirement.
  23. Ever see the movie "Waiting"?   I guarantee you'll think twice about complaining about your order.   Never ate at Golden Corral though, but if it is like Ryans, I guess i'll never try it either.   Best Country cookin Buffet would be Marvin's down in Fayetteville though. I s#%^ you not. It's the only thing my dad said he's gonna miss with me moving back to Tullahoma.
  24. Yeah, you could recycle them( doubt they would be worth much unless you had some serious weight to them. I would suggest finding someone who makes jewelry out of them. Never know, one mans trash is another mans( or womans) treasure.
  25. You're wanting a UTV, not an ATV.   Polaris is pretty good, if the 800 sounds too big for you they make a 550 which handles just as well. Also Polaris has "Turf mode" which allows the rear dif to disconnect and you won't tear up your yard ( or make the wife mad).   Used UTV's i would ask for maintenence records if available and keep a look out for rust, mud and dry rotted hoses/belts etc...   But there may be a lot of Yamaha mules on the market since everyone i trail ride with has gone into the polaris rzr ( sport sxs).
