  1. The 7.62x25 cartridge is a bottle- neck shaped case and is not a revolver ammo... Check the inscription on the barrel to determine the actual caliber of your revolver (the importer of the firearm is required to provide this info) somewhere on the barrel or frame..7.62x25 ammo was commonly used in sub-machine guns by the com-bloc countries and is not recommended for pistols ! Take care and be very aware of the ammo employed in surplus arms. Best Wishes, bucnball
  2. Bought a Braz-Tech single shot break open top (like a shotgun w/ an external hammer) at Predator Arms when they were on K pike. Haven't shot it but a few times . Shoot @ Norris along with a couple colleagues weather and time permitting .Get in touch with me or pm me ..bucnball
  3. GREAT GUN ! Mine shoots like the blazes but is a pain to dis-assemble ... I have the box & papers but even the owner's manual does not provide an simple way to it simply ..Where can i get the tool?
  4. I'm not sure that SSS is recommended for any semi auto/recoil operated firearms...works fine in revolvers too!
  5. Hello, yes just use a punch not an obscure putt-putt two wheeled vehicle to stake the pin to the frame...Thanx
  6. Like insurance, better to have it not need it than need it not have it...
  7. All gun finishes are designed to provide protection from sweat, corrosive conditions ,abrasions and other incidental events. Any finish can be compromised by accident or improper storage (like storing a blued steel pistol in a leather holster). You may have a problem finding a model or style is because there are literally hundreds of models in the market place and the better ones command a premium price . See if you can find a used one with a blemish or two you can temporarily tolerate until can afford a powder coating or whatever you prefer (as you know, all new guns depreciate in value because until they are sold they are on the dealers inventory and part of his or her profit helps them finance their building, utilities, display cases, licenses and permits employee wages, insurance and unsold inventory .) Happy Hunting !
  8. I just got off the phone to Farnsworth`s in Vonore (423 884-6462) and they don`t have any mil surp but do have some modern production ammo@23.95 per box of 20 (ouch!) I can`t think of any outfit in K-town that has any in stock. Good Luck! Bucnball
  9. They kick like a white mule and are usually over valued by merchants!
  10. If you are looking for an in-expensive 1911 frame in 9mm you might want to check out the Star brand (they look so much like the 1911 that they were used as prop guns in Saving Private Ryan). Saw one yesterday @ pawnshop outside of Clinton for less than 2 bills .This is not an endorsement ! Happy hunting ! Bucnball
  11. The out of business firm H&R made a lot of 9 shot revolvers and they can usually be found@pawn shops in small towns.Happy hunting!

    Russian SKS

I'd put a $40 or $50 down payment on it or ask the vendor what it would take to put in layaway immediately.. Cordially, Bucnball
  14. About Mosin-Nagant;my most recent one was a Finn M39 (determined by reference The Book of Rifles 3rd edition 1962).The previous owners son had bought it @ an estate sale shot it, failed to clean the bore and put it aside for years. His father thought it was a Model 27 but since it had a standard M-N bolt and was roll-marked 1943 on the receiver we figured it was an M39. The barrel was a dark crusty hole with no visible lands or grooves. It took several hours of methodical cleaning to restore the appearance of rifling. Alas, the cleaning didn`t make it an MOA shooter but it was a"war baby" as such , I feel privileged to have a historical relic as a shooter.
  15. I found a M39 in the local daily newspaper advertised as an antique rifle. The bore looked like the proverbial black hole of * #* and though the owner said his son had purchased the gun years ago and had fired it but had not cleaned it. I told the owner I was only interested in buying a shooter. I was able to identify the rifle by referring to The Book of RIFLES (Stackpole Publishing Co. 1965) and have spent several hours cleaning it . Took it to the range a few weeks ago and found it not to be the MOA shooter one would appreciate though I was honored hold a true relic from an extrordinary period of history . I hope other searchers will have as much pleasure as I did looking for a good milsurplus shooter

    Chinese SKS

A good friend of lengthy acquaintance just purchased a cosmoline packed SKS at a pawn shop in a neighboring county. He paid a little over $250 and is pleased that we could still find a good`un that hadn`t seen much service or abuse! We spent about 2 hours cleaning the goo out of the action and stock (Dawn dish detergent seems to work best acccording to Dave). What`s the best concise reference on the SKS ? When did the Russians introduce the Chinese to manufacturing them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks , bucnball
  17. How come my Colt Govt model (series 80) doesn't chamber JHP ammo as readily as my clunky Glock ? I have read that some brand of mags are better suited for JHP but don't recall which kind is better ... Enlightenment will be appreciated.
  18. How about abandoned mines And or dams. There are several near Knoxville...usually far enough so you will need a 4 wheeler
