  1. It could since it doesn't yet have a disposition.
  2.  In a case like that it would be common for a patrol officer to take the initial report and then it would be forwarded to a detective for investigation and possible charges. Some departments allow the patrol officer to do some initial follow up/investigation in hopes to clear the case without a detective's involvement and some don't. If it went to a detective it is just one case in a stack of many and doesn't take top priority over any of them. Typically these scrap yard cases give good evidence by the license number or thumb print and even some have video showing the person bringing the metal in.     I know someone personally affected will take it as they don't want to do anything but there has to be some order in which cases are handled or nothing would get done if they immediately stopped what they were doing every time a new report came in. Give a few days have him contact who the detective that got assigned the case and ask for an update. If he isn't willing to come to court and prosecute the courts aren't going to do anything except dismiss the charges.
  3.  Some require membership and some don't. I just stick with the regular tag myself. I do like some of the other tags but never really put any effort into getting one.
  4.  You were always suppose to be a member of NRA to get that tag. Just like some of the other club/organization tags you show proof of membership. I would say if you were to refuse showing membership then they would just issue you the generic TN tag. It's no different if I were to get PBA or FOP tags I would have to show membership also. As far as the phone number there has been a box on your registration form for years for a phone number and it has come in handy several times when I found a vehicle and the listed owner isn't in the phone book. I wouldn't get too worked up I doubt your county clerk's office is looking at sending you to a detention camp.
  5. Would be great I would make a special trip to Guns & Leather to spend some money.
  6. As long as your legal to own the firearm you can have it loaded and ready to rock in the car. No HCP needed.
  7.   I could see why people would wan't to hear the radios just like watching tv I guess it's entertaining. Me personally I turn my radio off as soon as I pull into my driveway and don't want to hear a single beep, tone, or word out of the radio until my next work day as I pull out of my driveway.     We use a digital trunked system and isn't bad but it takes a little while to get all the kinks out of it. I also have a secondary radio in my vehicle that is UHF to communicate to surrounding areas are still using that system. I pretty much have every agency in Middle TN in my radios and typically only use them to talk to three or four difference agencies. Do you guys listening to the digital trunked channels only get portions of the conversations on your scanner or app?
  8.  Looks like black friday at Toys-R-Us.
  9.  Don't try it please. If you intentionally answer the application wrong to get a HCP it can come back and bite you. And that won't just be bye bye HCP. I have seen it happen once.
  10. If it's on your person their is no way for someone other than you to have possession or constructive possession. You are in no violation by carrying because your aren't the felon.
  11.  I think some of the ideas behind the GDL (graduated driver's license) were good but I don't think it has helped with the young driver's safety or ability to operate any better. That falls on the teens and the parents. I somewhat think the limitation on juveniles in the car would be less distracting. But I guess you could be distracted the same with two adults yapping the same as two minors in the backseat.
  12. My buddy this was about 2 years ago. He has a little more gray now but he is still a ball fetching fool.
  13.    Oh I'm with ya. I'm no saying the kid should have hit her but I could have understood it better if she was hitting him and he reacted with a punch or something. He waited and stood up acting like he was hard then threw a shot on her. That's just revenge not defense.
  14.   Yep, about January 2014 we started getting Mexican heroin routinely again. All users were former pain pill addicts mostly oxycodone/oxycontin. The Mexican cartels have flooded it up and it isn't that expensive compared to a oxymorphone was going for between $50-$75 a pill. That $50 will buy you a longer high of heroin. But there seems to be more overdoses on it that nobody hears about. These clowns haven't learned they can't shoot a whole bunch of that stuff without taking a permanent nap. Even better was the ones claiming to be rehabilitated but hooked on suboxone/subutex replace one drug for another thanks to a doctor, like a patch for opiate addiction.
  15.       You shouldn't try to lure the poor fellow into your doctor/patient fantasy.
  16.  I'm kind of torn on it. I would never raise my hand to a woman but at the same time I'm not gonna stand around be a punching bag either.
  17.   After being in LE for 13 years I can say I've talked to several people that have just left me thinking the exact same thing.     But as far the search topic people get too fired up on both sides. You have one side that says never consent, you are an idiot if you ever do. Than the other side says just allow it and move on if nothing to hide. I can see both sides but each person has to make their own decision and not try to influence someone else's mind. You will run into the idiots on the job who think they have to search everybody or don't know how to talk/read people to see if something shady is going on. But usually what I see on the street from the typical patrol officer is if you aren't acting super nervous or have a record a mile long I don't see people asking to search. I have actually noticed many of the new officers that have only been raised on stats/compstat they want to make a stop give a warning and move on to the next, just hoping to find somebody with a warrant because they can't talk to people or know how to do anything else.
  18.   I see you're are a fan of LE calling them dumb and stupid.
  19.  It was like hitting a mute button when he gave her that lame punch.
  20.  I don't know about all of those but I feed my boy Purina pro plan it seems to do fine. One meal a day gives him all he needs to maintain energy and his size.
  21. You can be charged for DUI for a BAC under .08. The .08 BAC is just a per se number. You typically won't see someone charged with it unless they are a lightweight and are that impaired or maybe have some narcorics on board with it.
  22. Spent the night dealing with drunks and heroin junkies.
  23. It's five counties because that makes up the 24th judicial district. The DA is the DA for the five counties/24th judicial district. It's being resolved but the DA started off wrong and probably made some enemies. I would want the TBI involved in a murder investigation I have met a few TBI agents during my time and they were great investigators.
  24. Word on the street is the DA is responsible for this. The TBI can't investigate local crimes unless requested and if the DA boots them they just attend to their own matters in that area. But I'm sure the DA was put in his place and that is why the special prosecutor was requested.
  25. He probably just threw that rig on to go in the store. I've noticed several times that people seem to want to OC in a gun store. I think that knee brace is where he attaches his shotgun scabbard.
