What is this thing? Mobile big brother?
Pain103 replied to Hi Point Hooligan's topic in General Chat
There are no camera speed enforcement units in Davidson County. That is a camera trailer placed in certain spots occassionally due to crime. I see you mentioned Nolensville Rd some crazy stuff happens on Nolensville Road. Probably only be there a short time. So much for the revenue generator ideas. -
Metro Nashville amendment 3 - Sheriff
Pain103 replied to monkeylizard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It was their solution in response to the lawsuit that the Sheriff's Office doesn't have the power to enforce 287g. Ozment sued saying it should have been Metro PD not the Sheriff doing the program because they aren't LE. The County won the lawsuit but proposed this change to avoid future suits. I believe Don Hall just terminated the 287g program, i may be wrong but that's what I heard. But they will probably taking over courthouse security and maybe some other functions they haven't done before. -
I couldn't find any statute about killing domestic animal other than poisoning. If the dogs weren't on the guys land I would have went afterwards and sworn out a warrant for allowing a dog to run at large. TWRA shouldn't have been involved unless they were hunting dogs.
-
See TCA 44-8-408 dogs can't run at large. I would think if you can show you were in fear of serious bodily injury from a dog attack (which is very likely) using deadly force on a dog is ok. I think the breed of the dog will make a difference. A Jack Russell doesn't quite put the fear in somebody as a larger breed does. OC spray seems to work very well on most dogs and it's only temporary.

Metro Nashville amendment 3 - Sheriff
Pain103 replied to monkeylizard's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It will add the wording in the charter to have in writting the authorization for the Sheriff's Office to perform the courthouse security and other functions. It doesn't authorize any law enforcement power. They don't have law enforcement powers and won't have any while there is a Metro Charter. I could care less about them providing the security inside the courthouse because I know they won't be any better trained than the security guards they use now. But the ability to utilize 287g and the DNA tests are great. I wish they would just revoke the Metro Charter they have gotten this bighead because they are a metro government and forget they are only a city/county government. -
Firearms confiscation. How would it go down?
Pain103 replied to timcar86's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
What will happen is me and my buddies will fly around in black choppers we keep hidden behind the police department and land in every neighborhood kicking in doors looking for donuts and guns. <-sarcasm in case you didn't know it. Every few months some over paranoid people get this stirred up. This will not happen atleast any time in the near future (our lifetime) and wouldn't work. Also if by some crazy chance this were to happen I don't work for the federal government I work for my city. So federal components can not command state and local law enforcement. -
We have a wireless router but I use the ethernet cable to hardwire my desktop in. I don't want to any issues. Although I've never had the issue with a signal not reaching in a normal size house you could always have two routers.

I'll be getting it again this year. Deal with too many germ heads to not have it. Also it's free.

Shooting West Nashville - gun sale involved
Pain103 replied to midtennchip's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I prefer doing any private party transactions with members on here who have some background. I would be a little more leary with a person who just started their profile. But either way unless you know someone very well you should always have that survival mindset and keep your guard up. The idiots these days will rob you for anything. -
Legal question, "kidnapping," answer needed ASAP, tonight, please!
Pain103 replied to Steelharp's topic in General Chat
From what little information is given, I assume, the temp custody order gives the father custody of the child until a hearing is scheduled to determine the facts and a judge to issue an order. It isn't considered kidnapping in Tennessee if a parent is involved it is called Custodial Interference. If the child was taken to deprive the mother who has legal custody of the child then it would fall under that statute. But if he has secured an order of the court then it would be legal. -
Recommendations for eating/entertainment in Ft Walton Beach
Pain103 replied to daddyo's topic in General Chat
I was just down there last month. McGuire's Irish Pub is a good place to eat. Just across the bridge in Destin. Seablaster boat ride, they have different times for swimming and dolphin watching (free beer). The Air Force Armament Musuem is down there I didn't get a chance to go check it out but looks interesting. -
Got pulled over with my gun in the glove box.
Pain103 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If I had stopped you and the gun was in the glove box my only question would be why isn't isnt closer than that? -
Do you ever see other people carrying?
Pain103 replied to gregintenn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've seen multiple people carrying concealed and oc. I don't really think twice about them typically as they aren't doing anything illegal. You watch a person's movements and gestures along with slight printing and it gives it away. But I'm looking for weapons or indicators of weapons while at work so maybe I just observe people more. -
I read this decision and I am completely speachless on how being shot alone isn't considered serious bodily injury. I doubt seriously this will in anyway influence the decision on using a firearm in defense of serious bodily injury or death. This just blows my mind and wanted to share it, I'll give a brief overview and link the opinion. Robber 1 and Robber 2 enter an apartment where a drug deal is occurring and rob two people. One robber fires his pistol striking one of the people in the leg. The court states although the bullet passed through the victim's leg, the wound required minimal medical treatment and did not cause the victim to suffer loss os consciousness, extreme pain, disfigurement, or impairment. They dropped the conviction from a Class A Felony Especially Aggravated Robbery to a Class B Felony of Aggravated Robbery. http://www.tncourts.gov/sites/default/files/farmermichael_opn.pdf

It is just Tennessee's version of the program for an instant background.

I believe there was a AG opinion about LE carrying on campus it was stated they may carry regardless if on duty. One statute overrides the other I would have to dig around to find it. As far as the special deputy cards I have seen them issued to people that had no business with them but some places like private university police departments are issued them to give the arrest powers. Vandy police are issued special police commissions by Metro PD but are only good during work. After end of work they have to carry by a HCP.

186 After a long day and a few beers I'll take it lol.

I wouldn't sweat it. Sounds like you just popped it out of socket I've done it to my knee several years ago. It would pop out very easily for awhile afterwards so you may want to take it easy on that shoulder and take some ibuprofen to ease the swelling and pain. If it continues after a week or two maybe then I would get it checked out.

Well the truth is most residential burglaries happen during the day while people are at work. The lights are good at night and are more of a comfort item. If your wife doesn't work or you have a another personal vehicle parked at the house I would leave it in the driveway and move it some occassionally to give the appearance of somebody is home. An alarm is good but the company needs to have a quick notification for a quick response. If you have neighbors in sight of the house you know have her talk to them to help lend a hand and some eyes. Neighbors in general are observant of other neighbors' actions. They see and know vehicles coming and going and if they should be there. I would still ask for extra patrol from your local LE if possible. Some people even ask us to flash a spotlight in the house so their wife will know we came by. It doesn't seem like much but helps ease their worries some.

Question on registering a vehicle in TN after we relocate
Pain103 replied to a topic in General Chat
There is no tax for registering. You pay tax on the vehicle upon purchase. You only pay registration fee plus wheel tax from your county if one is needed. Plus some of the counties require a emissions test. So you should be safely under $100 per vehicle until they hike it up in the future. -
I was working traffic on the I65 Sunday when they came through here. It appeared to be National Guard units most were mechanics. They had to stop every so often to refuel. At times they ran out and had to send the humvees foward to an exit to get diesel to get some trucks back on the road. I talked to one of the Sergants asking for directions to a gas station with stalls big enough for them to fit. I didn't see any weapons I figured it was AT training time.

There is always 3 sides to the story. You are only getting one side I wouldn't get to wrapped up him telling you they said not to prosecute. If he has their information he can go down to appropriate court and swear out warrants then he will have to appear in court for the hearings.
