  1. Before 9mm increased in use, 45acp was more reliable in a 1911. Improvements in ammo and the 1911 have made 9mm a very reliable round. I haven't had a problem in the several 9mm 1911 pistols I have.
  2. The ARRL Repeater Directory lists many active repeaters across TN. Most of my travel across TN has been along I-40 and I-75.
  3. During this month I have needed to use a generator on three different occasions varying from 1/2 to several hours.
  4. The 2 meter band is far from being dead. The number of active repeaters would show the 2 meter band to be very active. While I spend more time on HF, I also use VHF radio several times a week.

    Carry History

    1911 - EMP - LCP - Shield Plus PC
  6. I've been wearing a Tag Heuer Formula 1 for about 10 years. Before it I had a Seiko watch for 16-17 years.
  7. The Model 19 was my first handgun. Although I've had several newer revolvers none has been enjoyed more.
  8. Welcome to TN! Leave the CA dust from shoes from between ears at the CA line.
  9. The last several gun shows I attended in Memphis were a disappointment. High prices and poor selection along with crowding gave me little reason to go for the last few years.
  10. Varies with season, currently M&P Shield.
  11. When you applied for a lifetime permit, did you pay a fee with the application? Was it cashed?
  12. I would have a difficult time paying the price of a range gun when for a few more dollars I could buy new with a warranty. Would you want an automobile with unknown miles and maintenance?
  13. I prefer not to inform a criminal that I am armed.
  14. It served me well in combat, it can do as well on the streets.
  15. I frequently practice and carry an M&P 9 Shield Plus. Before the Plus model became available I practiced with a Shield 9 and carried a Shield 45. When I choose to carry a 1911, I usually practice with my DW Valor 9mm and carry it or a Valor 45. Weather, surroundings and clothing usually are the factors in my carry choice.
  16. I learned with a 1911 and have no problems with them. If I don't hit my target it is my fault not the gun. The same holds true with my glock. If I bend a nail I don't blame the hammer.
  17. I carry in Olive Branch frequently. The laws pertaining to prohibited buildings are similar- schools, post office, government buildings. Prohibited places usually have signs.
  18. I see no reason for shooting 40 in a 10mm gun. If I want to shoot 40, I shoot it in a gun built for 40.
  19. My first Henry was a .22. It was shortly followed by .357, .44 and 45-70 Henrys.

    1911A1

If you have a problem with several 1911's there must be a common problem. Were each properly cleaned and lubricated? What ammunition were you trying to use in them? I've had problems several times with welding equipment. After receiving proper training the problems were resolved.
  22. Actually the above was my thought when they gave us the M9. The helicopter replaced the horse. Progress. The M9 replaced the 1911. Who's dumb idea was this?
