  1. I still have a few 40 pistols but prefer the 9 MM.
  2. My clothing, the environment I'm in, and any number of factors determine the weapon I carry. In my younger days it was a 1911 or nothing. Now a Shield or 442 is a common choice.
  3. The california state line will never see my foot cross it. There is nothing there I need or want to be involved in.
  4. I have years of excellent service from my Rock Island and Springfield Armory pistols.
  5. During the last few years I had to travel in Illinois several times. I also agree with the "avoid it" mentioned above as the best solution. Since retirement I have no plan to enter Illinois again.
  6. I recently attended a Shotgun class at Top Gun. I found it very informative as it covered safety, capability and limitations of the shotgun in a defensive situation.
  7. I carry my LCP when nothing else fits the situation, but prefer a Shield, XDs or P938.
  8. I enjoy a revolver at the range but still prefer a semi-auto should I need to defend myself.
  9. Learned that the hard way after a divorce many years ago. I sold a few pounds of silver a few days ago. As I plan my retirement move, a few guns, ammo and precious metals have given a better return than my 401.
  10. Still looking for an M9? Not interested in a trade. I have two M9s available in Memphis area. PM if interested.
  11. I shot a few off the mini shells. They fed without any issue but I have read that some are having problems with them. I plan to use regular 12 gauge buckshot in the future.
  12. I've had my first TRP for over 12 years. I added a TRP Operator 2 years ago when I "needed" another 10mm. These have been excellent pistols. Most of us will never have use for a pistol exceeding the ability of the TRP.
  13. Since walmart stopped selling .45acp and 9mm, I haven't been in their stores.
  14. After enduring several shortages of ammunition, I began a practice of purchasing additional ammo each time I went to the range. At current prices and availability that no longer is possible.
  15. This is the reason .38 special is expensive.
  16. I haven't put a large number of rounds thru my maverick but it has been reliable for it's intended use. If someone is foolish enough to break into my home it would likely be their last mistake. I'd like to find a used 870but the maverick accomplishes its tasks well.
  17. I have a DW 10mm and a SA TRP 10mm. Both have been excellent pistols with my only problem being finding 10mm ammo.
  18. Having spent considerable time in other areas of TN, it appears the problem doesn't end at the city limits of Memphis. I've seen no part of the state that I feel safe to be unarmed.
  19. A 1911 and spare mag should be more than I'll ever need.
  20. Several of the coworkers I worked with at General Electric were submariners. Most would not have been able to endure the conditions they worked in.
