Who says .45 ACP is not popular anymore?
tnhawk replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If 'popular' was my criteria for a pistol, I would have a glock or taurus 9mm. Most of my pistols are 1911s in 9mm and 45 acp. I haven't bought ammo for them in several years although I shoot weekly. -
I have a Dillon 550 but find myself using the RCBS single stage most of the time. I prefer to weigh every round even though it is time consuming.

Don't ask, don't tell has worked for me.

I spent the day at State Guard functions but probably wouldn't have attended anyway. Other than primers and ammunition at fair prices there's nothing I'm looking for anyway.

If I carry a revolver, it's a 442.

The best self defense in Memphis is to avoid being in Memphis.

Until I can outshoot my WC. Ed Brown and other pistols, I can't justify the additional expense of more expensive pistols.

Memphis and North Mississippi, get ready for power outages
tnhawk replied to Dirtshooter's topic in General Chat
While much of Shelby County lost power I was fortunate that I didn't. After my son lost power in Memphis he and my grandson stayed at my home for a few days until his power was restored. I had several bottles of propane refilled for my generators but didn't use them. Another relative lost power and borrowed a generator. The power company has done an excellent job restoring power across the city and county. -
Hope S&W gets your pistol repaired soon. I have a Springfield Armory pistol that required a trip for warranty repair. SA promptly sent a shipping label, repaired and returned the 10 year old gun in under two weeks. This is the reason SA fills much of the space in my safe.

Several decades ago I wouldn't carry anything other than a revolver. The only revolver I carry now is a 442. After years with a 1911 a Shield Plus has become my primary carry.

I'm waiting to find the SA model. I've never had a problem with my SA pistols or rifles.

How'd you drop the weight? I dropped about 40 after I retired, but need to drop more.

I wouldn't want to deny parents the experience of taking kids themselves.

When I purchased my M1A I chose the synthetic stock due to weather considerations. After a few years I replaced it with a wood stock. The weather extremes that affect the wood also affected me as I got older.

My experience with elected officials has been they only want my money not my opinion. When Cohen was promoting a state income tax, he called the police on us when we tried to make him aware of our opposition to the proposed tax. He wouldn't listen to our concerns but continually sends mail asking for contributions.

Keith Warner is the only shop in Memphis I use for repairs.

I got a Henry .357 after getting a .357 revolver. I haven't been able to find ammunition as easily as I'd like.

I'd get a box of each and see which your gun prefers.

FedEX charged Springfield Armory a fee to verify delivery to the intended person. The driver lied about obtaining my signature or verifying my ID. FedEx and UPS have previously delivered packages to neighbors, one requiring law enforcement to get the item returned to me. If someone would steal a cell phone order, would they return a gun? If I had not received my pistol, this could be a problem as far as insurance claims and someone having a weapon that could be traced to me after a crime. When the item was shipped to Springfield Armory from a FedEx location, there wasn't an issue handling the package or signing for the shipment.

A few weeks ago I sent a pistol worth several thousand dollars to Springfield Armory. After repair it was shipped to by FedEX, ID and signature required. The delivery person handed it to me without seeing and ID or obtaining a signature. I asked if he needed an ID, his reply was no. A few minutes later the driver sent a text stating the package had been signed for my me. I notified FedEX and as expected they didn't bother to reply. As the shipping label showed Springfield Armory as the sender, I'm fortunate to have received it.

How long did it take you to get your permit?
tnhawk replied to One1's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It took over two months to get my permit but wait times were much longer over 15 years ago. -
I'm using one I found on Amazon for about $20.

Common denominator -memphis. I've had problem with fedex, ups and usps which have increased during the last few years.
