  1.   Agreed.  I've never understood the point of a 14.5 with a pinned muzzle device compared to a standard 16".
  2. I hear stories of one of the local gas utilities running out of gas.  Apparently they throttle the supply and the lines got sucked dry this morning.    My wife says our heat is still working fine, so I'm thankful for that.  She also says the kids being cooped up in the house for 2 days are driving her batty.  :)
  3. Seems like plenty of kids do stuff like 3-gun, USPSA, IDPA, Cowboy action, NRA High Power, etc.   I'm sure there's skeet/trap/clays stuff around as well.    This might be a place to start...  http://compete.nra.org/
  4.     Mucho sucko.
  5. Interesting toy.        Me neither.  And with little kids and a wife who doesn't like such movies, not likely that I will.
  6.     Probably a substation dropping out.    I didn't sleep worth a darn last night.  I am thankful our power stayed on all night.  I left some water trickling in a few faucets in the house and nothing's frozen up so far.  This is the coldest it's been while we've lived in this house.  When I get home tonite, I think I'll take a thermometer into my crawl space as I'm curious just how cold it is down there.
  7. Windhawk makes a good point... If the house isn't well sealed and insulated, it won't matter what kind of furnace/heat pump you get.
  8. Maybe it was fun when it was somewhere else. I just about froze my fingers off trying to get my heat lamp set up under the oil pan shortly after I got home. I hope it starts in the morning.
  9. Welcome!
  10. While that's obviously fake, some real airplanes can touch down and stop surprisingly quickly. Check out the landing at the end of this flight... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=we9uBdU0ccE
  11.     Sounds like my house.  I'm certain the plumber wired it.  No self respecting electrician would've done it that way.
  12. Seems like a novelty unless you live in a tropical climate.  When will you most desperately need fire?  When it's cold and wet.  That doodad isn't likely to work in those conditions.
  13. It was 57 deg when I went to bed at 11pm last night.  There was about 1/2 inch of snow when I got up to pee at 4am, didn't look at the temp.  Still only 1/2 inch of snow this morning at 7am and the temp was 19 deg, it's 14 now.    So much for the snowpacalypse.  I'm bummed.  If it's gonna be this dang cold, the least it could do is snow a couple inches.    My employer has a big facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.  My director sent us an email that the high temp there a couple days ago was -24 deg.  The article pointed out that the surface of Mars is warmer than that.  The low in Winnipeg was -63 deg.  That's pretty darn cold.  http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/winnipeg-deep-freeze-as-cold-as-uninhabited-planet-1.2479967
  14. I think you'd have no difficulty finding a few willing test firers. :)
  15. Cool movie, even if it's got a left wing agenda.
  16. My yugo Mauser was like that. I knew I was finally making progress when the patches changed from black to green. I scrubbed it with hoppes and a brass bore brush for a while and it finally cleaned up. Mine shot ok before I cleaned it, hope I didn't mess it up.
  17. That's my thought. If the circuit works properly and popping is in the switch, it's a bad switch.
  18. I think dolomite just found his next project. Oughta be done about spring time, doncha think? ;)
  19. I'm good. :) And just for clarification, I do have 2 gallons of milk in the fridge (5-7 day supply), and at least 2 loaves of bread in the freezer.
  20. Other than making big fireballs and scaring your friends, is there any practical value to such a thing?
  21. When you go back, you should tell the guy to tell all the other sporting goods department managers to do the same thing.
  22. It's ruined. Totally not repairable. If you send it to me, I'll be sure it's final days are honorable. :)
  23. After experimenting with a number of higher end bourbons, I picked up another bottle of Bushmills on sale the other day (1.75L for $35!) I guess I just have cheap taste, 'cause it's darn good.
  24. Heat. It could be that the barrel steel is somewhat porous and has soaked up crud over the years. The easiest thing is to remove the barrel. Then you can get it hot, up to 400 deg won't hurt the steel, though it might ruin the finish.
