That's what I expected since you said they were inexpensive. In that case, a normal knife sharpener should work fine. The only problem is the coating on the blade will load up a stone or diamond really quickly so you need to be careful not to get into the coating. Else you spend more time cleaning the stones than sharpening the blade.

Are you sure they're ceramic? You can't sharpen ceramic knives with any normal sharpening system.

The best blasting cabinet you can get is someone else's. As mentioned, it takes a huge compressor to run one effectively, they're big, and really messy. That said, the media won't hurt your critters.

I would definitely put something much longer under the HVAC duct to support it over a greater length. If there ls enough pressure to crush the dryer vent pipe, it'll do the same to the HVAC duct over time. Maybe a 24" strip of 1/2" plywood, something that will flex some. The fake return vent is a neat idea and it'll confuse the crap out of the next home inspector.

That stinks. I agree that dropping the ceiling is best. If the hole on the outside isn't between the right joists, you'll have to make another one. That stinks more, but that's what you'll have to do. Be thankful you found it without burning the house down.

Good tires plus very slow and steady is the trick. Lots of people don't have the patience or touch with the throttle to go super slow. They want to go faster so they spin the tires which is counter-productive.

I planted field peas as a cover crop and they were doing quite well. I'm not sure if they'll make it through this or not. They're not complete mush, but they are pretty flat. The package said they'd be ok with short duration cold snaps but time will tell.

So it's cross threaded and fully seated? If so, probably easiest to cut the end off and re-thread. I'd presume the threads are trashed. Find a device long enough to meet the length requirement if needed. You could try cutting into the side of the device, perpendicular to the threads (along the barrel axis) until you can just start to see the threads. Then hit the slot with a cold chisel and see if it'll crack. You might be able to rotate it off or get it off in pieces.

I agree completely, perhaps society was a little more civil then. There’s tech available now that dramatically reduces the risk of personal injury.

I got called in as reserve for our loss prevention at Sears in high school. Mostly just blocking exits and trying to funnel them where we wanted them. I did end up in a wrestling match one time. The guy made it to his car and was fighting with one handcuff on. I managed to get the other cuff hooked around the seat so he couldn't swing. He gave up when the cops arrived. In retrospect, that was really stupid for $5.35/hr and maybe a couple hundred in merch. Most places have a policy against that now... just let them go if they make it out of the store.

That happens every time it gets really cold in my house. Aluminum framed windows and an aquarium that keeps the humidity up in the house. Which reminds me, I need to get a towel and dry all the condensation off the window frames when it finally thaws out. It gets moldy and damages the sheetrock otherwise.
