I have done that very thing a couple times. Traffic jam when it's very hot out and I started to overheat. One of those I turned around and went backwards between the cars because that's where the closest crossover was. I'll take a citation over heat stroke every time. I agree that the shoulder is a high likelihood of a puncture, so I'd rather go between the cars. Filtering would be ugly for a while until drivers get used to it and realize it benefits them as well. A certain percentage will never get it.

What Jerk seasoning do you guys like? I don't mind if it's spicy but, not too spicy for the rest of my family.

Who Here Has A Generator, And It Saved Them ?
peejman replied to billt's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Predator generators are generally well regarded. I know several people with one who are happy. I also see them commonly on food trucks. -
How many of these come in sizes other than huge? I don't have the biggest hands so most work gloves are big and I have no dexterity with them. I can't pick up a pen to write something without shedding the gloves.

Marinading takes more forethought than i can usually manage, but i like the Allegro brand marinades, very savory. Be aware the bottles do not have any sort of restriction in the lid, so it comes out really fast. My quick and easy thing is just Italian salad dressing. Slice breasts into tenders, brush on some Italian dressing and grill. My family likes that pretty well.

Yep. I generally tip about 20% on the total less tax. The restaurant isn't providing the services the tax pays for, so I don't consider it when I tip. As for not tipping cashier type places.... the cost is passed to the customer either way. I just hope it really does go to the employees. I've heard that about the Sunday lunch crowd from more than enough people to believe it. I've never understood it, but it is what it is. Sad but true. About a year ago my wife was asking why my credit card bills had gone up. We'd started having lunch out with her family every Sunday. $80 4x per month = $320/month. Not sustainable and I'd rather cook anyway. We still eat out more than we should but it's hard with our busy life.

Spent a couple hours this afternoon helping a neighbor cut up another neighbor's cypress tree that came down. It was really big, probably 2ft across at the base. A minor miracle, it landed on their fence but didn't hurt it. It was laying across the gate and didn't even bend the hinges.

I'm married with kids and I work for a living do my primary hobby is sleeping. When I'm not doing that.... I like to ride my motorcycle, play guitar, ride my bicycle, coach my kids sports teams, and I dabble in photography. I also do most of my vehicle maintenance.... spent most of yesterday helping a buddy try to get the big block in his truck running. It's got carb issues we weren't able to solve. I'd like to think I still shoot and collect guns, but there's not much time or money for that these days.

Discover Card to Begin Tracking Gun Purchases in April!
peejman replied to The Legion's topic in General Chat
Credit card companies already categorize and track all your purchases. They provide it as a service. That data has been able to be subpoenaed and used as evidence for a long time. This is nothing new. -
I've only ever used a small adjustable wrench and plucked them like a guitar string to check tension. I'd also certainly expect the new wheel to be ready to install as received. That sprocket is looks a bicycle part. Theres not much to it. I guess the bike is pretty light.

Broken allen wrench in set screw
peejman replied to NoBanStan's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Lots of good ideas. I'll add trying a spring loaded center punch. That plus some penetrating oil might help pop that tip loose. -
Welcome!

No, I don't intend to harvest the peas. They get cut down while they're flowering and before they make pea pods. The leaves are edible, but I'm not going to bother with that. They're supposed to add nitrogen back into the soil, natural fertilizer.

Seems the package was right. They look quite happy now with this warm weather. One of the storms last fall destroyed my kids playset. I got it demolished and hauled off, and my wife has decided I should build her a small greenhouse make from recycled windows and doors in that spot. Anyone done that before? Lots of plans and pictures on the web. The playset originally came with a tarp roof. It didn't last long so I built a frame and used some plastic roofing panels from Home Depot. I went to significant trouble to save the roof when I demolished the playset, but my boys decided it made a good backstop for their bb guns and shot it full of holes.

To Greg's point.... The technique seems solid but the unnecessary potty mouth is a definite turn-off. I get the persona thing, but expanding his vocabulary would likely improve his business.

Run the stove (or anyting else) while you try to get the water heater going. The additional gas flow will help purge the line. It can be flakey trying to get the line purged. If you've got a gas grill or space heater, you could connect the water heater line to the grill/heater and use it to purge the line. It's very unlikely they've filled it with the wrong type of gas. The fittings are different on the lines for that reason.

A strop is what takes it over the top. Be patient the first few times you sharpen a blade. If it says it's a 15 deg edge, your system might have a slightly different version of 15 deg so it may take an extra round or 3 to reshape the edge to match your sharpener.

Yep. My parents' bank killed off my Dad many years ago. It was rather a hassle to bring him back to life.

Carver's is good stuff. We usually go there in the fall to get apples, pumpkins, etc. to preserve. Really good fried pies too.

Same here. The traffic is usually horrible. It does have a few redeeming qualities.... eat breakfast at the Pancake Pantry, then find a bench for people watching while you digest, then get stop by the Donut Fryer on the way home. The aquarium is nice too, but its gotten expensive and you have to go during the week.

Good guess. They've been all over the world for quite some time.

I'm sure they knew exactly what it was, they're just not telling.

The pressure difference top to bottom in the balloon is insignificant. The trouble with shooting it with bullets is range. If the highest a fighter can fly safely is about 50,000ft and the balloon is at 65,000ft, that's 3 miles straight up. Add in some horizontal distance and you're looking at a 4 mile shot minimum. That's not feasible, a missile is the only viable option to bring it down. Perhaps a missile with a proximity detonation and let the shrapnel shred the balloon? It'll shred the payload too, so instead of 1 big piece falling from 12 miles up, you've got lots of medium sized pieces. I'd further guess that satellites and other surveillance assets had already determined exactly what it was, and they didn't consider it valuable enough to be worth recovering intact. I doubt there was the equivalent of an Enigma code machine or a Norden bomb sight inside.

I call those the Cuisinart. They'll slice and dice you right up. I saw a guy get into a cable barrier because he didn't notice stopped traffic ahead. The cable failed about 1/4 mile back up the road from where he hit it. The broken end whipped around and whacked a couple more cars, breaking at least 1 window. Imagine if you were on your motorcycle.
