HOLY GOOD FREAKING DEAL BATMAN??!!
jcj replied to whitewolf001's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
PSA recently redesigned these sights. The current production batch is supposed to be better. Saw that in the product description for the sights recently. Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues. -
Found this article discussing them (and the upcoming PSA AR10) a bit more. Still short on details though. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/palmetto-state-armory-ar-10-and-1911-new-long-guns-and-hand-guns-shot-show-2014/

Early April Fools joke from KelTec? Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues.

Photo from the PSA booth at SHOT. A PSA 1911, made in South Carolina. This one could be a winner for PSA I think. There's a thread about it over on ARFCOM but no official info on the specs or pricing.

I placed two orders with them on 1/3 and 1/6. They both shipped today per UPS. It's hit or miss. I got pretty lucky with this round of orders it seems.

Scope with a very short eye relief??
jcj replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
How short? I've got a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 that seems to have an unusually short eye relief. I had it mounted on a 30-06 and realized there was no way I was going to shoot it that close. It's probably right at 3" eye relief. If you can use it, let me know and I'll drop it in the mail to you. Sent via Tapatalk. Blame the phone for any spelling issues. -
The only weird thing to me is that on their website it shows the upper shipped but some have said they're website/updating is terrible. Guess we'll see. My lower is ready to go. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Can't go by that either. I have an order that I received weeks ago that still shows pending. They obviously have some sort of internal system that doesn't really integrate with their website.

Not sure about anything out that way, Dave.. But I will say that you'll never regret a trip to SMKW if you've never been there.
PSA has their rear sites on sale for 39.00 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-aluminum-flip-up-sight-set-same-plane-for-railed-uppers-14860.html I have a couple and they work/mount fine, I just had to tighten them down. I have had great luck with PSA uppers and parts
Do those sights work? I've been reading horror stories about them on arfcom. Not tightening down, stripped mounting screws, etc. I was looking at replacing the MBUS sights on my AR but was kind of worried because of all the reported problems.

It's a Colt. If you don't like it, someone else will most certainly want it.

This is very common practice for PSA. They'll get the upper to you eventually, but they often ship other stuff in the order ahead of time. They have issues, but they'll get out the door eventually.

I recently posted a review on a Primary Arms dot. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/index.php?/topic/74301-Primary-Arms-Gen3-Red-Dot

Gotta bump this thread to give a +1 to Gordon as well. I received a gift in the mail from him today. Many thanks!

I'd look into a refurb from TigerDirect. All you'd need at a nice cost savings.

As an experiment, I'm leaving the AA-model dot I received on (level 6 brightness) to see how long the battery will last. I'm going to check on it daily until it goes out. This could go on for a while, but I'm interested in knowing what the real-world battery life looks like. Also found this interesting. Here's a video they posted on Facebook of their factory testing process:

They don't waste much time getting stuff out the door. I thought the same thing. When you pick up the sight you get the feeling it's a "real" optic and definitely not an airsoft toy (the feeling I get with some other cheap optics).

It's a balmy 9 degrees here in Campbell County.

Just an update for those who have asked. Brandon is doing better. He's out of ICU and in a room as of today. He still has multiple surgeries pending on his arm before we'll know for sure whether or not he'll get to keep it. However, he's stable, awake, and doing well..all things considered.

My local store told me the same thing yesterday.

Update: Spots, myself, and a few other people went to the range today to see how it felt to be stupid and shoot in extreme cold weather (Answer: It's cold.). Spots was apparently volunteered to be "Mr. rifle sight-in person" today (unintentionally). We both got some trigger time with the PA red dot. He can probably speak to the ease of zeroing, but I was pleased with this thing. Once set, we had no issues with consistency. At (very) close range I was able to shoot a dime-sized group of 4 shots. Spots said I was putting rounds "on the target" at 150 yards, but I can't imagine they were in any sort of group since I could barely see the target at that range. :pleased: We'll see how it holds up over time but, based on my initial impression, this Primary Arms red dot is a keeper.
Getting real close :) Have you started buying tools yet?
Good point. UncleJak, before you start buying tools give me a yell. I may already have it on hand. Some things you won't use all that often aside from doing a build.

Not much attention to this thread, so I figured I'd pick one up and evaluate it. Here you go.. Shipping Primary Arms ships fast. I literally had it overnight. Absolutely no complaints there. Packaging The outer box was adequate and the package had sufficient protection to keep from damaging the sight. Noteworthy enough, the package was freezing cold from riding in the back of the FedEx truck today, however it was clear of fog when I unboxed it here in the house. Here are some shots of the retail box: The feature list is shown in the second pic. Construction This optic is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and has a nice black anodizing. There were no noticeable defects in the finish. It was smooth and consistent everywhere. The battery compartment is double o-ring sealed to keep water out. The turret caps are also o-ring sealed. The flip-up style lens caps secure with a nice 'click' and seem to fit just right. Also, +1 for including a name brand (Energizer) lithium AA battery. The integrated riser and mount seem to be well constructed. They aren't LaRue mount quality, but more than adequate for securing the sight to the rifle. The included configuration co-witnesses (lower 1/3) with AR sights just fine. Performance This is still "to be determined". I'll have to zero this one at the range tomorrow and go from there. However, I'm pleased with the precision of the dot. It isn't as precise as an AimPoint dot, but it is certainly good enough and quite usable. It is advertised as a 3MOA dot. The camera made this a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. It does distort a bit at the high(est) illumination settings, but I doubt you'd see that outdoors where those levels are needed. Speaking of illumination settings, the settings are adjusted via a twist-style control that faces the shooter. The settings go from 0 (off) to 11 (max). I would like to see some in-between 'half clicks' to allow turning the optic off and quickly returning back to the previous setting without cycling through all of them. This is a budget optic and falls in the < $100 price category. In its class, I'm very pleased with the overall construction. If it works well, I'd say this one is worth checking out.

What flashlight for weapon mount? (Shotgun) AA Powered
jcj replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I've had good luck with Tenergy cells. I have about 8 of them that I've been rotating through lights for a while now. They seem to be 'as advertised' for capacity and retain a charge well. The "AW" brand is supposed to be the best, but they're expensive. -
What flashlight for weapon mount? (Shotgun) AA Powered
jcj replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
That's correct. The operating range for the flashlight is probably something like 3.6-9v. You'll get more watt-hours out of a single 18650 though. The dual CR123s might be ever so slightly brighter at max (or not, depending on the electronics in the UltraFire light). The 18650s are the better deal since they're rechargeable.
