1. Make sure you use a high quality 18650 battery in that light (or any light that uses LION batts). The super cheap cells can be dangerous.
2. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.   Just wanted to provide an update...and not a good one, I'm afraid.  After losing his mom on Christmas Day, Brandon has himself been in a car wreck.  He wrecked on his way to work today on I-640 in Knoxville.    He is currently in critical condition at UT and stands a good chance of losing his right arm.    So, keep praying on this one. The poor guy has had a rough couple of weeks. He's one of the "good guys" too. Brandon is a former Eagle Scout and is a gun carrier, God believer, family man, and generally just a great friend to have.
3.
Have you noticed how they're naming winter storms now. :shake:
Yeah, that was started by The Weather Channel as a headline grabbing technique. Annoying.
4. I've bought several lights from Greg at Greg McGee Engineering. They're outstanding lights. Not made in USA but Greg is the sole US distributor and does the warranty service for them. Get in touch with him and he'll set you up with something affordable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puIv5jijARA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
5. Anyone running one? The Gen3 model hasn't been out for too long.  I hear good things about the PA dots as far as cheap "alternative" red dot optics go (ie, not EOTech or AimPoint).    I like the fact the new model runs on AAs.  PA only warranties them for a year which is a major downside compared to say, a Vortex Strikefire. I'm still thinking about picking one up and beating up on it a bit to see if they're worth the price.  I figure for $99 including a mount it might be good for some range plinking. If not, it can be relegated to "Tactical 10/22" duty.Based on everything I can find I think they're comparable to the likes of a Strikefire but slightly cheaper and with a much shorter warranty.     http://www.primaryarms.com/Primary-Arms-AA-Battery-Red-Dot-GEN-3-p/pa-aasdg3.htm   What say ye, TGO?
6.
Anyone ever seen this? It supposedly allows you to attach trust documentation during submission.
7. So sorry to hear this. Pets are family members and losing them is really hard. The best we can do is make their time with us as enjoyable and rewarding as it can be.
8. Ooma is the way to go. I use mine for work. 2+ hours on the phone almost every day and costs almost nothing.
9.
Buy a completed AR and interchange some parts (my tgo upper and lower) OR just buy all the parts...Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
Buy the parts. It's all part of the "experience". :D
10. Watch his vids often. Terrible to hear that he's sick.. Praying for a quick recovery.
11. As far as the switches go, no idea... Sounds broken, but I haven't used a Strikefire. As for the dot, do you happen to have an astigmatism? Sometimes red dots don't play nicely if you do.. Can cause the dot to show up like you describe. Then again, it could be broken. If you have a phone that takes pics, try to snap a clear pic of the dot. If it's perfectly clear in the photo then it's eye related and even a properly working red dot is gonna look weird.
12. A good friend of mine, Brandon, just lost his mom in a car accident a couple of hours ago. I don't think he's a member here on TGO, but I know a few of you are members over on another forum where he is a moderator.  In any case, I ask that you say a quick prayer for Brandon and his family during this difficult time.  I appreciate it and I know he will as well.    News story: http://www.wate.com/story/24304789/one-person-dead-four-injured-after-head-on-collision-in-mascot     Thanks in advance, TGO.
13. It's been a while, but I've shot it. Cycled fine in the Spikes Tactical AR I had at the time. Seemed like decent quality brass cased ammo to me. I never really did any super detailed accuracy testing though. Probably at least good for range plinking. I ordered mine online. I don't recall seeing it on the shelf anywhere locally.

15. M&P 9mm compact 12+1 w/ Streamlight attached. Other options available within reach, as needed.

DSLR's

If you're also looking online, check into the "refurbished" cameras from Adorama.com. I bought a refurb Nikon from there last year that was as good as new...and much cheaper.
17. Carry the Glock. Let the finish wear off a bit to the point it bothers you. Duracoat it yourself. Repeat as needed. Cheap and you have a Glock in different colors every so often.
18. I've used a "classic" LPK from PSA before and it was as good as any standard LPK. Not sure about the "PTAC" version. The Blackhawk grip is just an Ergo grip with a Blackhawk logo. I'd give it a try. Worst case the trigger isn't that great and it gives you a reason to upgrade to a nice trigger later! Just don't get in a hurry. PSA will get it shipped to you...eventually.
19. Just to echo what others have said. Primary Arms is definitely GTG. Bought a few things there..always got them within a few days and just as described on the site.
20. Killer deal.. I was eyeballing the PSA 16" M4 CMV Rifle Kit -> http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-16-m4-cmv-rifle-kit.html   It was on sale for $399 on Monday or Tuesday I think.  I didn't get one due to lack of funds, but I thought that would be a nice kit to do a budget build with.
21. As everyone else has said, I'm glad this ended as it did. I've seen TGO and TNJeeps members step up time and time again when a fellow member is in need. I bet we collectively reached 100,000 people within a couple of hours of the original post. That's what it's all about, folks.
