  1. Yeah, he's excellent. For the double win Sam Harris had him on for a discussion on violence. It was another great episode.
  2. Love the Sam Harris podcast, Waking Up. There is no more interesting podcast out right now. Also will listen to Joe Rogan if the guest is interesting, which they often are. If you haven't I would strongly recommend listening to his shows with Randall Carlson, and the other with Graham Hancock. Some of the most fascinating episodes I've ever heard. If you are even remotely interested in history Dan Carlin's Hardcore History is a must. In particular his series on WWI is a masterpiece. The Jocko Podcast is awesome as well, worth a listen. Occasionally I'll rotate in Stuff you Missed in History Class, Stuff to Blow Your Mind, Stuff You Should Know, The Tim Ferris Show, and WeThePeople Live.
  3. I just picked up a bottle of Yellow Spot and cracked into it last night. It was absolutely great!
  4. Tentatively interested, pending specifics. Seems like a good time.
  5. I love it, and this is my next purchase. But I don't want anything in the world bad enough to sell all my Glocks to get it!!!!!! Beautiful gun, can't wait to buck up and get mine. Where'd you pick it up?

    m1 garand

CMP still sells them. It just takes awhile to get the order processed. Far and away the best way to get a good Garand though.
  7. Joining the NRA and reaching out to your elected officials are not mutually exclusive actions. I spend time doing both, when I can. I also utilized the NRA's populated form letters after Sandy Hook. Which they could not have developed without the resources to do so. The NRA, like any organization, is not perfect and has it's warts. The good they are doing right now far outweighs the things I dislike. Or I believe they are at least doing $35 worth of work on my behalf every year. I completely understand the NRA's decision to cherry pick their involvement. For one, they do have limited resources, and secondly they can't take on cases that are losers due to the narrative that would be spun by anti's should they lose in court. In a perfect world they would be able to pick up every case like the one you mentioned, but that isn't where we are right now. I'll stand by my original statement, if you own a gun the NRA is worth every penny of $35/yr and while I understand people have a variety of reasons for not joining, none of them resonate with me. I love the work that organizations like the Second Amendment Foundation do, but how long do you really think they would stand up to the Washington machine without the NRA taking the majority of fire?
  8. I can't imagine any good reason not to be in the NRA right now. If nothing else isn't it worth $35 every year to see so many liberals piss themselves over the NRA? If you're a gun owner, and you aren't in the NRA you seriously need to ask yourself what you are doing to ensure our 2A rights for the future.
  9. Is Vortex making anything that competes in this space? I'd be interested if they are, I'm all in on what Vortex has been doing lately. Great products, outstanding warranty and service.
  10. I think it was two years ago that Glock started putting the stamp of the state of Georgia on the slides of the 19's. I took this to mean that was when they began being manufactured in Smyrna.

Nice! The duty treat valor in 9mm is next on my list!!!!
  12. All my Gen 4 19's and 17's run great. And they all have been fed Freedom Munitions pretty much exclusively because it's the best deal on ammo.
  13. After much back and forth, the full refund was finally issued.  Summarized; never do business with this company. And be careful ordering online. As some commented earlier, and I found out as well, some of these companies are just brokering transactions and never actually have the inventory in their possession.  The internet has brought us in to some strange places!
  14.     There is a place for both. I look around online for unique guns, and to get a feel for the bottom end of pricing. This experience has only reinforced what premium I might be willing to pay my LGS.
  15.   The disclaimer was buried in the terms and conditions page of the website.  I have been issued a full refund and have instructed the FFL to return the pistol. I normally do business with my LGS and this has reinforced to me why I will do so in the future. I didn't on this one because this pistol chambered in 9MM isn't really stocked anywhere around here, and when I came across what I thought was a good deal while researching it on the web I jumped on it.  I am working with my LGS now to get me a price on the gun I actually wanted. Lesson learned, the internet is still a box full of lies!!!!!!!
  16.   If I understand this correctly you're saying that this website basically only brokers the transaction? They don't actually have the inventory? If that's the way you want to go to market it seems that they should be willing to accept some of the risks associated with this niche.  This exact situation being a glaringly obvious negative associated with the decision to go to market this way.
  17.   Yep, it looks like they've removed it now. Either way I've got screenshots and print offs of the page.  I purchased a Dan Wesson 1911 chambered in 9MM. I thought I was getting the blued model they call duty treat. That was the description and picture. They sent a SS model. No big deal, I thought, just not what I wanted. Their customer service has me pretty irate at this point though.
  18.   This shocked me as well. They said the duty coating is a $300 price difference. The 25% restocking fee was on top of that. I did let them know that I expect a full refund, and if they refuse I will notify my credit card company. His reply "It doesn't really work like that" This was a pretty horrible buying experience all the way around. Once more reinforcing why I typically do business with my LGS.  I've been around small business long enough to know that when these situations arise doing right by the customer is painful, but it is almost always more profitable for your business long term.
  19.   They have not. The link I posted still works as of now. This was my point also. I have no access to the UPC. It means nothing to me. As a customer I order off of the picture and description.  For them to act as if they were doing me the world's biggest favor by not charging me a "standard 25% re-stocking fee" after I brought their mistake to their attention is what really crawled all over me.
  20. Well, I'm going to go to the well on this one. I"d like for TGO to let me know if I'm out of line here.  I went to purchase this gun from this site: http://www.mrgundealer.com/product.cz-dan-wesson-valor-9mm-black-duty-finish-double-diamond-g10-grey-grips I have screenshots in case they change it later. Long story short they sent me a stainless version when the description and image is of a duty treat gun. I called the service office Saturday and was asked to wait until Monday when a manager would be in to handle this. No problem, I said I won't take ownership of the gun and we will wait to see how you want to proceed.  Well, I spoke with the manager today, he informed me that there was a mistake on the website, that UPC code matched up to the SS version. And that if I would like they would allow me to return that gun to them, they wouldn't charge me a re-stocking fee this time, and they would send me the gun I thought I was getting...as long as I gave them another $300.  The manager then proceeds to tell me all about what an inconvenience this is for them, and how much they were going to be out for shipping and everything else. I asked him how much would he be out if I had posted this everywhere over the weekend, and how much will he be out by pissing off a customer? He then tried to re-explain to me what a favor he was doing me by not charging me the re-stocking fee. The indifference and arrogance was stunning.  I understand mistakes are made, no problem, the issue is that from a customer service standpoint no attempt was made to rectify this. They were arrogant and could not have cared less. I'm sending the gun back and taking my money elsewhere. I will own this pistol, just not from them.  Mostly I'm asking what y'all think, and letting you know that if you order from this company and there are issues, they will pretty much tell you to pound sand. Thoughts? Should I have handled something differently here?
  21. For what it's worth, season 2 of Daredevil was pretty amazing. One of the best fight scenes ever filmed was done this season. But, I like the hell out of Chris Kyle too, so I guess I can bridge that gap?
