    P-51 Mustang

how cool would it be to fly in that bad boy!
  2. I have just enough faith in the legal system to believe that shooting a BG who broke into my house or tried to attack me in public wouldn't get me prosecuted and even less likely, wouldn't get me convicted of agg assault or murder. That leaves my biggest remaining concerns being the cost of bond, the sleep-over with a bunch of criminals, and the humiliation of being arrested and hauled off in a police car for my family/neighbors to see. We can debate whether my faith in the legal system is misplaced, however, I feel pretty sure I'll take the approach diablo and others have suggested. I'm still going to ask for an attorney when I give a full account of the event, but I don't wanna get cuffed and stuffed by leaving them no choice except arresting me. I suspect we all feel that way, too.
  3. Oops, I missed the post where you said you ordered one already. Congratulations! I like the PCR a lot, wish I had one myself, but I fell for the decocker hard. Love having it instead of a manual safety. Of course I'm stuck with a tac-rail now, but oh well. I hope you like it as much as I like mine...happy shooting.
  4. Let's say your house is broken into at 1:00 am and you shot the intruder (dead/alive, whatever). It seems to me that the circumstances alone would be enough to avoid spending the night in jail (hauled off in cuffs), even if you refuse to make a statement without an attorney. If you were accosted on the way out Walmart at the same time of night, were forced to shoot the BG, and clam up when the cops arrive, I'd be surprised if the cops had any choice but to haul you off in cuffs. Hopefully you'd get to go home after your lawyer gets down there and you make a statement (granted they believe you). In either case, you have to weigh the damage to your freedom/wallet long-term against being detained for up to 24 hours until they get to the bottom of things and decide whether to arrest you, right?
  5. Volzfan, I have 4 CZs (CZ P-01, CZ-82, CZ-52, and a CZ 75 Shadow) and I love them all, but the P-01 is my favorite. I sold the rubber grips that came on the P-01 and put a Crimson Trace Laser Grip on it. It only changed the way it feels in your hand a tiny bit, but you are welcome to handle/shoot mine any Saturday/Sunday. Give me a holler, bring $5.50 and some 9mm to the SRHEC on Hobson Pike, and I'll meet you out there. It'd be a pleasure, in fact.
  6. Obviously, I was only regurgitating facts I heard second-hand, albeit from what should to be a trustworthy source. I saw much of the same info you saw, but I was too lazy to read it all, LOL. All the same, let's assume this was an all-inclusive and exhaustive search and there is undisputably no such rule/law. It's not the first time someone mired down in the world of acedemia has given false or out-dated info to their students. College professors, especially, tend to get a little too comfy in their little theoretical world and tend to lose track of the real world. True or not, my wife says she'll still stopping for the same reason Blackhawk stated, which is the same reason she chose her profession. Thanks for the leg work, BTW.
  7. I looked for some "proof" as well, but found none. All I can tell you is that my wife got her BSN from MTSU. She had more than one instructor tell the students that the state of TN could revoke their nursing license for refusing to give care to someone in need. They specifically cited passing by an accident without stopping to see if anyone needed medical attention as one of these grounds. Naturally it would be hard to prove, but the instructors said it has happened. In fact, around that time the state came out with specialty license plates for nurses. Several instructors said they'd never get one of those plates, because if they passed an accident without stopping to render care, it'd be too easy for them to be tracked down. Regardless, I'd guess it's a rule of the licensing board for nurses, not an actual law.
  8. Mine's an RN...I know what you mean. We once passed a bad accident and the ambulance hadn't arrived yet. We had to pull over to see if they needed help...something about possibly losing her license if we didn't. She once jokingly said, 'Please don't shoot 'em. I'll just have to patch 'em up. What's the point?'
  9. Good stuff here. The whole don't talk to the cops idea seems like sound advice up to a point. As it's been said I wouldn't want to leave them wondering what happened when they arrive on the scene or have them taking the word of the BG. I hope few real criminals heed that advice, though. The police need all the self-incriminating evidence they can get from thugs to get them off the streets. Also, I'm curious about the point bkelm18 made about being sued for messing up trying to save the BG's life. I think he meant it tongue-in-cheek, but still...the state of TN has a Good Samaratin Law. Don't y'all think it'd protect you from being sued for mistakes while trying to render first aid.

    World war Z

I downloaded WWZ from iTunes on Wednesday. I'm only 30 minutes into it so far, but it's pretty interesting. I like the format...1st hand accounts of how it was when the SHTF. I think I'll get Day by Day Armageddon next.
  11. Naturally, I hope it doesn't happen again either. I have my doubts about this wall idea, but I get why they are considering it. For the wall to work it'd neede to be pretty tall, which seems like an expensive solution. Otherwise, a 6 or 8 foot wall would just be for show. Last I heard they had some hunters/shooters that were target practicing nearby and an illegal w/ an AK-47 just wandering around. I can't wait to hear what their ballistics report proves.
  12. I think you may have stumbled onto something...a new motto for the machinists union: "I'll give you my lathe when you take it from my cold, dead hands"
  13. There was an article about a school shooting on Comcast.net this morning. It's really brief for now, since the cops don't have much to do, but wait... Texas school may build safety wall after shooting | US National Headlines | Comcast.net I hope the bullets recovered turn out to be 7.62X39. Regardless, what do you think of their proposed solution?
  14. I'm sure that Romney vs BarryO is a coin toss. I suspect the best 3 for the job (Huntsman, Santorum, and Bachmann) have no chance in the primary. And Rick Perry is a punchline waiting on a joke. I doubt Paul has a shot in the general election. Even though I like his economics enough to vote for him, I loathe his foreign policy enough to pass. So, I'm holding my nose and checking the box beside Newt's name, since Cain is out of the race.
  15. I'm a big fan of Benchmade, myself. I've only had a couple, but they were very well made and kept an edge better than anything else I've owned. The downside of good edge retention is it takes a little more work to sharpen them...worth it though. I've been carrying a Kershaw Leek for a couple of weeks now and I have to say, it's working out very well. Excellent blade shape and I love that I can switch the clip to tip-up or tip-down. I haven't had to sharpen it yet, so I can't comment on edge retention yet.
  16. That's an impressive shovel! You might wear yourself out faster hacking at stuff than you would with a machete, but not nearly as fast as you would trying to dig a whole with blade, LOL.
  17. That is art right there! I'd never be able to use it cut anything with...too darn pretty!
  18. Sounds like a lot more fun than setting snares. Me and my grandpa used to stay up and ambush coons that would get into the garden and hen house. I'd hold the light and he'd hold the double-barrelled 12 gauge. One night we killed 2 coons and about half a row of sweet corn. After that, he got a dog.
  19. These snares are basically a galvanized a slip-knot. One end has a swivel used to tie off to a limb or stake. The other end is the washer lock that creates the slip-knot. Asuming yours are the 5' they are coyote snares, they create a 12" loop that can be hung vertically along a culvert or known trail. The coyote will snare himself as he walks through the loop.
  20. Sorry Cap'n, becoming zombies would be the only appeal this crowd ever had with me, LOL.
  21. I was a few people behind you when we got to the door. By the time we got branded and herded through the chute you were way ahead of me (I literally look at everything...why not, I paid to get in). I got me a knife and 4 others to give as gifts. Aside from that, just baubles and trinkets. You? I expected the SP to sell faster, but at what the geezers offered offered for the Six I'm not surprised you left with both. My daughter's present caused a HUGE rift. My wife is so jealous! She thinks I should give it to her instead, LOL. I said no way...I get to be Super Santa this year.
  22. +1 on the Ontario...got the same model then did this ( ) to it and contoured the grip with finger grooves. It's a beast now.
  23. I was behind BlackVanDriver in line when the hag was looking for a camera. I wish I had stayed home. This is why I haven't been to a BG show in so long. The RK Show in M'boro is way better.
  24. Last year, I finally found a good one for sale at the same time I had some money. Really fun gun to shoot. Yes, they're loud...yes, the muzzle blast rivals a snub-nosed .44 mag...and yes, they're darn near as accurate as a mediocre .22 rifle. I got mine along with reloading dies, some Starline brass, bullets, and.....A 9MM REPLACEMENT BARREL!! I couldn't believe the same mags handle both rounds. You can literally change it over from 7.62 to 9mm as fast as you can load a couple of magazines. I wouldn't sell mine for twice what I paid.
  25. A quick shot to the head is too good for these pieces of crap.
