What are you looking for? There's trigger kits, barrels, and sights. What else do you need?
-
Congrats on the new pistols. Let us know how you like them.

Sorry if this was already posted, but Springfield has released this model in 9mm and 40. No word on when 45 will be available. http://www.springfield-armory.com/products/xd-mod-2-4-service-model-9mm/?utm_campaign=DUEL+3&utm_source=hs_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=21882910&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9R-OBQFDySIlFYiz1fsGkrJvFqM8aCw3isBsqVMQ1plp_Wg_OojQJh6gLVLR7vwJdhJ-uyJ0JClRRBmpS51NxcGgTWxA&_hsmi=21882910

Dremel 8220-1/28 12-Volt Max Cordless Rotary Tool
JPR1959 replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
I bought mine from Harbor Freight. $10 http://www.harborfreight.com/80-piece-rotary-tool-kit-97626.html -
Bud's has the Enhanced R1 for $880. There's several 1911s in the same price range, so your decision will be difficult. I looked at all of these options last Christmas, so good luck and happy browsing.

The big fail in your plan is an economic collapse, and you're stockpiling cash. Do you actually think your cash will be worth it's current value after a crash? If things are that bad economically, then your "cash" will not be money.
-
I'm not sure what price range you're looking at, but there's tons of great 1911s around $800 or so. My son bought a Sig 1911 I found on gunbroker for $700. Most Sigs come with front strap checkering and night sights. I also think the Ruger Night Watchmans are really nice looking. There's lots of great options out there. Have fun in your research and shopping.

Revolution Safes at NRA Convention...did anyone get a look?
JPR1959 replied to WarPig's topic in General Chat
I saw their safes at the show, and I liked them. I liked every safe I saw though. -
Did anyone ever contact Stones River about possibly renting out their far range?

You can buy a Mark II kit for around $110 and have the nicest trigger. This kit comes with the bushing to get rid of the magazine disconnect. This is the kit I would recommend.
-
You should have put a Volquartsen trigger kit in it while you had it apart. I installed the Mark II kit in my Mark III, and the results are pretty amazing. I think the trigger pull is around 2.5 pounds. It took me a while to get it back together too. I think this is the website I used for learning the ins and outs. http://guntalk-online.com/TroubleshootingPage.htm

I've had issues with yellow jackets. I ran over a nest with my lawnmower, and the next thing I knew was OUCH!!!. Sprayed them, then a month later--OUCH!!! They came back. I sprayed them again and thus far, they're gone. I've been stung 8-9 times this year. Blasted things!!!

I would also check out Dr. Ming Wang. He is the best laser eye surgeon in Tennessee, perhaps the entire country. He fixes other doctor's mistakes. You only get one set of eyes. http://wangvisioninstitute.com/

That was the reason I used Springer Precision because they were the only one that offered a kit for the thumb safety models. I decided to leave that pistol (45) alone. The main problem with it is just a long reset. Thanks for sharing the information.
-
I put this kit into a gun without the thumb safety. I'd give Springer a call tomorrow and see what they say. If anything, send it to them and let them do it. It would probably be faster than waiting on a local guy to do it.
-
Did you get your kit installed?
-
+1, but the liberals don't agree with your theory.
-
I believe the Loaded models use set screws and not standard screws. Make sure to use a good Allen wrench. On using blue Loctite, make a little puddle on a piece of plastic and dip your screws in it. DO NOT put several drops on your screws!!! They're never going to come out if you do.

*Sigh* 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Consideration
JPR1959 replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep are all the same. I'd run like hell before I'd buy one of those. My personal experiences with Jeep still smarts. I had the best mechanic at a local Jeep dealership told me to sell it cause he didn't know what was wrong with it. He told me to buy a Toyota or Honda. That's a ringing endorsement for Jeep if you ask me!!! I'd drive a paid for car before I'd take out a loan on a Chrysler product. If I was going to take out a loan, I'd get a Honda or Toyota. Most cars are too expensive for me to even think about. I'd love a Mustang GT, but I wouldn't pay $38K for a Mustang. -
XD Springer Precision trigger Kit
JPR1959 replied to Sunfish's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
There's 3 videos from Springer, but I only posted the first one. It's not that hard. These pistols are pretty simple. Putting a Volquartsen trigger kit into my Ruger MkIII and turning it into a MkII wasn't too hard. Putting the pistol back together was very rough. Beating that barrel onto the frame with a rubber mallet made me cringe!!! -
XD Springer Precision trigger Kit

Powder River kits are different than Springer. Springer is the only one that offers a kit for the thumb safety model. I don't think either kit would be difficult to install. The XDs are easier than the XDm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IKWRmQXsJk -
XD Springer Precision trigger Kit
JPR1959 replied to Sunfish's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I did my XD9. You'll have to file the trigger bar for the overstop to work. You'll also have to take a little off the safety portion of the trigger. Other than watching the videos a few times, it was pretty easy. I'm amazed at how simple these particular pistols are. Good luck, but it's really not that hard.
