How has or will the government shutdown affected you
vontar replied to c.a.willard's topic in General Chat
They will have to pay them when the time comes, so they might as well just do it now. However they are wanting to make people hurt. My food stocks are up, I won't say I am ready for a year but I am good for at least 2 months. I need to do a better job in that department. but money isn't always there for that. My wife works for the state and there is a good chance she is going to get furloughed soon. (others already have been) -
Glad it got processed before the shutdown. I bet you just got in under the wire.

I have been meaning to setup some extra motion lights in my back yard but didn't know exactly were I wanted to put them. So I built a free standing frame like this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rgptt3n00e5j4tu/2x4%20stand.jpg except I used two 2x4's for the base. The base is 4 feet by 4 feet. My upright is 10 feet. It is amazingly stable, it would have to be tipped at least 45 degrees before it would even think about falling. I wanted this one to be free standing, so I could move it around my yard to help determine the best placement of some motion lights. I am using this light from amazon http://amzn.com/B00D0Z0JWQ solar motion, 64 LEDs and it light almost my entire back yard. I is a small yard, but I was surprised at how well it did. I need to go back and check the settings, as it is staying on longer then it should and I can't tell a different changing the lux from 1 to 4. Only issue with this light, is it does not have an on off other then movement (not a big deal up on a 10 foot pole). My other LED under my car port has a manually on switch which good if I am out there late at night. I will try to remember to take a picture of my light stand tomorrow when the sun comes back up. I might have to build me one more of these and that should do it, along with my flood lights that are on my house.

Well you really made that lesson sink in. That story will be passed down for a few generations.

I made some chilli the other night and I even added a can of corn and peas. Sounds strange but it was very good.

Not sure how much this is out, but I just heard from a very reliable source that the State of TN has just furloughed allot of people as of today. Little bird told me. I cannot directly confirm but I have been told. About 700 at least. -
I think that counts as the Stupid prize of the day.

very nice. I considered buying the bull pup mod Joe came up with for the 10/22 but I just found it priced just out of what I was willing to pay. I just hope they cut out the drama for the next season.

I wanted to say something like this disproves the old saying don't take a knife to a gun fight. I am sure the robber just didn't want to add murder to his sheets. http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2013/10/07/erin-attempted-robbery-foiled-by-a-machete.cnn.html

This seems a bit slanted. This was sent to me on FB, 1. Tennessee > Violent crimes per 100,000: 643.6 > Poverty rate: 17.9% > Pct. of population with bachelor's degree or higher: 24.3% > Property crimes per 100,000: 3,371.4 (10th highest) Just doesn't seem right. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/10/05/most-dangerous-states/2925679/

a co workers daughter is student teaching this year. She had a game for the music students to play. However she got written up because there was a way for a student to lose. She was told she needs to revamp the game so no one's feeling get hurt. -
saw this before when it was just a few thousand hits, I can't believe it is over 89 million now.

Here is how they choose to spend money. Pay guards to close open air places that really probably don't need monitored much. -
They certainly have a great team to come up with those. That is very moving. on the one with out the snow, i kinda think they did some computer edits to remove the snow. I believe you can see snow in the hooves near the end. about 40 seconds in.

I am waiting to see if we have a skilled wood worker that uses the parts and encases in a homepage wooden furniture, perhaps making it look like a traditional gun in some ways. https://www.google.com/search?q=ar15+wood+stock&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=NWhQUvirK4bs8QSC9oCYDg&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=973&dpr=1
