1. I'm from MJ too. Lived here all of my 35 years. I tool my hcp class from a guy in Gladeville and he also happens to be the Wilson County Register of Deeds. Great guy too. If you're interested shoot me a pm. Don't want to step on any sponsor toes but like to see money stay in the county when we can.
2. Maybe they'll just go after Bushmasters. Maybe just villify and make it out as they are the evil rifles and AR-15's are ok. Bait and Switch. Using the MSM against themselves. Then they can go under and come back with a different name. Another thought I have is to drop the A in AR and just use R-15. When anyone comments refer to your rifle as an R-15, they're nothing like AR-15's. The idiots will never know.
3. I haven't watched 1 second of news on this story after the 2-3 minutes I saw mid day on Friday. Only thing we've watched this weekend was some Dinosaur Train, Veggie Tales, and the Elf on a Shelf Story from the other night. I don't plan to watch any of it b/c the media will just piss me off and from what I've read on here they just make it up as they go anyway. Fixing to watch a little Frosty The Snowman
4. Not hijacking the thread but Wyldk2 I just realized that you are my cousin. Lol.
5. $50 Nikon P Series rings from Academy (or Walmart or your store carries them) and  try to find a scope on sale that you kinda like for the extra $100.
6. Man the more I think about it the worse it is. I mean little little kids, most prob don't even know what a real gun was. It had to be almost execution style. It brought tears to my eyes. Eternity in hell doesn't seem long enough. I pray God cleanses this world of these beasts soon.
7. I don't post much, prefer to read, but I think this may be the end. It's been a good ride. 230+ years of the 2nd amendment were good. This is so f'n terrible I could see people with favorable opinions of guns turning on them. I have a little boy, hearing of a tragedy like this hurts my heart. They're so defenseless. What kind of animal can do this? To little kids... What we gotta do is rid this world of these gd demented lunatics. Not sure how but we got to. It needs to start with NO news coverage of this crap. End the glamour of infamy.
8. Fishing below dams is perfectly safe if you have any sense at all. I liken it to driving on a road, you wouldn't want to jump right on the interstate if you had never driven before. But taking the time to learn a little bit its as safe as boating anywhere else on a normal day. Their idea to close beliw the dams is pretty dang stoopid. And they have not released a reason nor will discuss it. Which looks pretty dam shady IMO. How many terrorists are gonna hop in a jon boat and run up below a dam to do harm? If they allow boating there should be plenty of fishermen to watch out and prevent an attack. Actually this is a better defense than closing them to fishing/boating. Guys fishing the boils usually watch out for each other.
9.
The geographic center of the state is there. You can go see the marker for a couple of seconds.
Back when I was surveying we stopped to eat lunch there one day. I told my crew chief " you know we ought to get a stake out and write 'actual center of the state' on it and hammer it in about 20' over that way".
10.
Why? I deer hunt with a centerfire. Not trying to be a smart a$$; just not following you.
With that in mind I think if everyone had to wear 500 sq inches of daylight flourescent blaze orange on their upper body and head, like in deer gun seasons, rifles would definitely be needed to get a shot at a turkey. Personally I'd rather just keep on shooting a shotgun.
11.
It wouldn't be the first time I've seen this. When I took my hunters safety course we took the written test at Wartburg elementary school and shot clay pigeons behind the high school.
I actually took my Hunters Safety class in actual school. In 9th grade, Mt. Juliet Jr. High, it was part of our Health class. We shot right there next to the school. Now there obviously were many people that did not, nor ever will hunt but they did the same class, shot the clays, and were at least introduced to safe firearms handling and some common sense... 1992 doesnt sound that long ago but wow how times have changed. Mt. Juliet used to be a lot different and better.
12. Been swinging into Walmart on Friday afternoon and they've had WWB 9MM each week. Last week in Hermitage the guy was restocking and I saw the case on his cart so i waited and grabbed 2 boxes. I'm not hoarding but I've noticed stock/stocking seems to be irregular so I've been buying a box here and there because I may just want to go shoot and it's good to have on hand.
13. My dad had a tote he caught water in for the garden, I think the sun broke it down because I came out one day and it was split down the side. I broke the plastic into pieces easily and put in a trash bag. We've got a 550 gallon tank also and the smaller one was just additional over flow from it. Usually he opened the valve and didn't catch water in winter because of worry freezing will bust the tank but since I inherited the house and all that stuff and I like being somewhat prepared, I'm holding it. Dang I hope it don't bust it. Anyways what I'm getting at is storing Tote's out of direct sun/weather may be best for longevity.
14. My wife's grandpa had the same issue with his prints when he was getting his permit in FL. Can't remember what they did but he got his permit.
15.
They most certainly do not come from Florida. Floridians can't be held responsible for the legions of New Yorkers, Jersey trash and Michiganders that flock there for tax breaks and warm weather. Trust me, there are more rednecks and good ol' boys in Florida than the state of Georgia and Tennessee combined.
^There is a lot of truth to this. my wife comes from a long line of real deal crackers. To me something that differentiates Southernors from others is our use of colorful phrases and symbolism. For instance in the #3 post it really oughta say "cold enough to chap a coons a$$." When you see something you like say "thats slicker than a minners peter." When hungry say "man I'm so hungry i could eat the azz end out of a rag doll", things like that will speed acceptance. think about it, you rarely hear people outside the south use phrases in the fashion we do. When you can master this you've done something. You may never get to where it sounds right though, sorry.
16. Just an opinion I've always thought TN Sportsman's License holder ought not have to pay to shoot at a TWRA range. Even though it's not expensive, it should be an added perk of the $140.
17. I too flip the safety on on mine in the house. 98% of the timei carry a ruger sr9c in a iwb Theiss holster. If me and my son are horseplayin' i usually take it off and put it up secured. I don't like horseplayin'/wrestlin' with him with it on bc it's uncomfortable to me. I don't go to parks so that works out. At bed time i keep my night time firearm on the shelf in the closet. Not ideal cause i feel its too far from me. I want a bedside safe like the linked gun vault but its not funded in the budget just yet.
18. Before buying compare them to Thorogoods. I used to love Redwings but have switched to Thorogoods. 1)they're cheaper 2)they're made in USA(which is why many want to go redwing) 3)they're as well if not better built, IMO I realize many of the Redwings are made in USA too but they are the higher end of Redwings line and the cheaper lines are outsourced. I just believe you get more boot for less money with the Thorogoods. The pair I wear now are the best steel toe work boots i've ever worn, period. I got them from unionbootpro i think and saved a considerable amount over what a coworker bought in redwings that were virtually identical. Thorogoods marketing ain't as broad as Redwing but their boots are great, IMO.
19. Land owner doesn't need type 94. Google "tn deer seasons" and scroll down it is noted below the boxes that shows the seasons/bag lkmits. As far as tagging. You shoot the 1st, temp tag it then check all additional in. (Now if you get down and recover the 1st and tag before shooting again, that's on you but I think you only have to only tag before moving it) You only need 1 temp kill tag. After checking them in you will have a permanent kill tag that you will keep with each deer and you'll be issued (or print) a new blank temp kill tag. This all really ain't as technical as it seems to be. You qualify for a landowner license exemption. Take a copy of a tax doc if you want. at least know the deed book and page number. Most officers won't bust your balls if you are not trying to cheat the system somehow, they know how to smell BS. If you know your book and page number you ain't got no worries. Someone trying to get away with hunting on someone elses land wouldn't think to carry that info. if you need me to, send me a private message with the county and your name I'll look it up real quick. It'd take me 1 minute.
20.
I've never in my life eaten a Twinkie. Not one. I feel partly responsible.
I haven't either. I'm more of a HoHo and Ding Dong man, lol.
21.
I put a spikes tactical lpk in my new frontier poly lower. The takedown pins are super tight, to the point to where im gonna have to take a small drill bit to open them up a bit. I mean they are TIGHT. Have to use a rubber mallet to slide them in and out for takedown. I also had to take a dremel with a small sanding wheel to open up the magazine release slot on the lower as well. The mag release from the lpk wouldnt even go in until i did that. Aside from those two things they are cool i guess. Lightweight thats for sure.
I just got a New Frontier yesterday and had to throw parts in it as soon as i got home. I had the same mag release issue and I also used a dremel to open it up. The material appeared very thin around the hole and i think you could go through it sanding at high speed without taking good care. I did a little and test fit until it functioned. after that everything else went in the lower perfectly.
22. It's hard to experiment with a muzzleloader because of loading and cleaning, cleaning and loading. Outside of obvious loose scopes and stuff, I always figured many things could affect accuracy, how hard you pack the load, charge measurements, sabot tightness, and things like that. The deal could be your gun don't like shooting super clean. Pop a cap to foul it a little, load it and shoot it. It may like that. You don't say what powder you shoot but if it's pellets the volume could vary or you could be busting them when packing them down. I never liked the things. I've gone to Blackhorn 209, the stuff's awesome. Or it could just be your bullets. To say they will never be accurate all the time is kind of silly imo. With enough experimenting with it I think you could have near 100% confidence just most people just don't want to jack with shooting them that much cause theyre such a pita. check out maxmuzzleloader.com it has some good tips in the articles section.
23.
My wife thinks she has an Adam's apple.
"I'm just sayin' "
