New regulations for postings? (Opinions)
Jonnin replied to Mdunntn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Actually I think this is an important side note. I firmly think that MANY laws are ignored until someone does somethign MAJOR, at which time they throw the book at the person in hopes that SOME of the charges will actually stick. So, if they can add a "carry past a sign with a gun" to "robbing and shooting up the place", they get another charge against the person. This is not 100% a bad thing, if it helps to put criminals away for longer or make their day in court worse while the law is normally not enforced. Not sure what to think about *that* angle. -
as I understand it, which is from semi-questionable sources, a range that allows them must carry extra insurance which is somewhat expensive. There may be ways around this (such as 100% at your own risk places that are unmanned/unstaffed) that I do not understand, but it comes down to liability and money issues.

tumbling can remove all sorts of tarnish, and it has to be extremely bad to have made the case unusable. Like, eaten into the brass enough that you can feel it (after cleaning) --- some sort of pitting and all. Any splits or cracks are a no-go. Deep dents can be bad in a necked case, but it has to be very deep, enough that you would think to yourself "this wont feed" or "this dent will up the pressure too much". Some range 223, actually a lot of it, isnt brass, so make sure. Some is steel, some is other crap. Only brass is really good to use, you can sorta use nickel plated stuff at least once. You would be amazed at the dents you can knock out of straight wall pistol cases. It can be all but mashed flat and still work so long as it does not split in the process. Necked cases, the neck will undent but there is nothing inside the case in the big diameter pushing OUT to undent it, so dents in the main part of the case of those is an issue. Minor dents there will reform with shooting it again, but major dents there = discard.

Glad you had a good time. If you ever find yourself down here you can try my eagle, its in 44 mag but the difference is mostly in the cost and availability of ammo. Its about like shooting a 1911, louder, a little more recoil (not so much as you would expect), a little heavier and longer. And I only charge $50 for 3 mags (kidding, kidding).

We gonna have problems until the PC crowd wakes up and realizes the the so-called radical nut cases are actually mainstream in a very large part of the world. Entire cultures have declared jihad on us and we call them a few radicals outside the norm. Our allies that we embraced and trained to work with us are now shooting our soldiers in the back and we blame the occasional loon. The peaceful ones are the handful of radicals. This just in about the killing of our envoy today: apparently it was over a movie someone in the states made. As usual, the rest of the world wants to use the UN or whatever to infringe upon our freedoms, this time freedom of speech. Check out this quote... "We ask the American government to take a firm position toward this film's producers within the framework of international charters that criminalise acts that stir strife on the basis of race, colour or religion."

New regulations for postings? (Opinions)

If you honestly did not see the small, transparent, stuck way off to the side and basically invisible signs that some places have, did not draw or even touch your weapon, there should be some leeway for making an honest mistake. If the sign is 2 foot square 5 feet off the ground in the center of the door going inside, there should not be any excuse. I have a serious problem with a law where a person must seek out and find a hidden easter egg or be prosecuted. A quick couple of examples.... a store here has the sign about 2 feet off the ground, about 5 inches square, transparent, in a window off to the side of the door. I saw it eventually, but not until after I had been in there a few times. Another -- one of our arcade/food places --- the sign is inside, facing the EXIT door, so you can only see it as you are LEAVING that place. The mall here, half the entrances are not posted and you have to park next to a very tiny sign in one a just a few parking spots to see the outdoor/parking lot posting. I do not actually mind the law. I can buy the property rights angle and abide by it. But the signs need to be visible and obvious, on par with fire-code exit signs or other legal signs that must be of a decent size and visibility and in standard locations. -
I agree with this. Much like abortion, I think these are non-issues with an extremely low chance of any changes in the near (8 year) future. They draw away from the true issues, which are basically debt, economy, and foreign issues. Most everything else is a distraction. On the big issues, romney is a winner hands down. I think the only things obama has done to date that I have agreed with were continuations of existing W policies.

Sure, some of the specifics were good. Some were bad. Trying to gloss it over as pro-gun is dishonest. One cannot call an opinion a lie, and this is his opinion of the bill, no incorrect facts were presented here. I had not looked in a while. Here is what the bill he signed DID: -Ban "assault weapons" forever in the state as per the clinton ban nationwide which could expire. -Increased the duration of carry permit and related from 4-6 years, big whoop, renew less often. - Grace period for the same renewal, again, big whoop. - created a review board to go to when permit holders were denied. Not bad. That was the big pro-gun victory, a longer lasting CCW permit before renewal and a small review board to help people that were denied wrongfully, and this is much, much more significant than banning a large number of rifles until the end of time. No, he did not single handedly do the ban. He single-handedly failed to veto it because of all those meaningful pro-gun reforms that grossly outweighed the insignificant ban, as a way to compromise with his voters.

Grrreeeat. So thugs have an advance notice of a fence who will buy hot guns for $50 no questions asked. Time to do some break-ins!

Pretty, pretty words, music to the ear. Im all warm and tingly now. I was especially glad to hear that the stuff as gov was all amazingly pro-gun, I had worried about that until he said this.

Which I never understood. Jesus said plain out who he IS. So you have to make a personal choice: the guy is either a nut on par with the guy who thinks he is superman and jumps out a window, or he is valid. The guys that try to reduce him to a prophet (some jews do this as well?) or minor diety (some in india for example) or whatever else ignore this, or somehow think that the folks that wrote down his words corrupted them (do they have some other chronicle that says other words???). The bible was edited and messed with a bit in the dark ages, but we have found older texts and undone most of that damage in the last centuary. I guess I am looking for logic where none is again, a bad habit.

^^^^^^^ What he said. The jewish community does not support their mother country by voting for a candidate who supports Israel. They also have a reputation for business ventures, which are also under attack by their chosen candidate. The only sense I can make of it is an unfounded fear of the extreme right wing driving them to embrace the equally horrible extreme left wing.

I like the ruger as well. Since its for carry and gonna get a few dings anyway, a solid used gun can really cut the price down. You sometimes find gems of a used S&W too, their older stuff is well made.

defense ammo is an equalizer. 380, 9mm, whatever else, its all right at the same buck a round. Thankfully 1 box of 20 is usually plenty for a few years, test half, load the other half. Need more for a high cap gun, but still, its hopefully a once in a while purchase. consider solid points in the 380 before you buy. I personally alternate JHP and FMJ in mine. It just lacks the force to drive a .40 cal or bigger diameter expanded slug all the way thru in far too many instances. not sure where you can shop for it, but its a very common round, I would think ANY gun store would have some. Personally, I would get buffalo bore, I have been impressed with their offerings so far and am slowly switching to them for my preferred carry ammo in most calibers.

Bush was no liberal. he made a ton of mistakes, and did a lot of good stuff as well. Who could have predicted 911? Anyone in the know might have realized the housing bubble crash was coming --- the banks were playing hot potato with the worthless debt tokens --- but the timing and extent of the damage was anyone's guess, very few probably knew the truth and those kept it quiet for personal gain. Who could have predicted bush would cave in to the left for that union bailout? I know my crystal ball is busted, always has been....

Nevermind the debate, but I made my own. I loaded a speer 90 grain gold dot to my own specs and tested a lot of them. Running in the sig 938.

sweet, should make a good one for you. Hope you heal up soon!

it has already been going on for far too long, and this just makes it worse. If you go back and google people who were arrested then released but their weapons taken, many did not get their weapons back at all, others had to fight for ages to get them back, while some got them back right away. It seems to be random, but in far too many cases, they are not returned. An example, as I understand it many people who had their guns taken during katrina STILL do not have them back.

Smith's 2-stone precision shapening system
Jonnin replied to RichardR's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
You can mix and match too. Once done with these types of systems, you can then put it on a surgical oil stone to finish it up, for example. They get the blade sharp enough for everyday use without anything more, but you can take it all the way faster with a combination of the two. I like the old stones method, the time spent is relaxing for me, but I totally understand wanting to get it done too. -
what about the p238? It is not poly, but it isnt steel either, I think the frame is at least partially alum, not really 100% sure but its not plastic. Might be too large for what you listed, though. NAA makes its own caliber, I think its a .32 in a 380 case, that may interest you, idea is the firepower of a 380 in a smaller platform?? I could be more confused than usual about this. I think there is a beretta tip up that is in 32 and not too terribly large as well.

Don't let anyone see you with that assault rifle, it just *looks* illegal (just kidding, laugh and move along)... Great looking tatical setup, and unique to boot, very nice job! Seriously nice looking guns guys. I have been tempted by one off and on, and probably will someday get one of those. Yes, I do think it is standard with a bipod, maybe you can get it either way but all the ones I have seen had one sold with it. They come in a variety of interesting colors too.

Pretty happy with what I have but if given 1k to buy a gun and nothing else.... I guess I would splurge on a 1911 9mm from STI for a low ammo cost centerfire target gun.
