network cables will run a long, long way. I know I have run them farther than most homes are long without signal loss. ?? Sounds like your problem lies not in the distance but somewhere else?? I have no idea how this went here. It was for another topic entire.

I have had a couple of atomic sync watches and wall clocks. The watches *always* stopped working right after a while. Worse, some models, you could NOT set them! If they had no radio signal, it would just not work. Bluetooth: really? What for, its a WATCH. Wireless eats batteries, even short range wireless. I would pass unless you have a specific NEED here. I have an older model G and its been good for many years. With phones storing the phone numbers, all a watch needs is to keep time, and maybe have stopwatch, timer, alarm, night lightup, and then if you are rough with things, impact/water/etc protections which the G all have anyway. Basically, all the crap that used to go in a watch goes better in a phone -- phone numbers, calculator, mini day planner type stuff is all easier on a bigger screen.

I have the sig, and it is my daily carry. Pros: small, 9mm, 1911 trigger, recoil isnt bad considering size and weight, accurate, well made. Ambi safety! Cons: drops a round if you eject a loaded mag (strips off top round from mag). Cocked and locked bothers some folks (also meaning con: has safety). Recoil > 380. I would also take a look at the shield 9mm. Its small, has a good trigger, not quite 1911 but very good, 9mm, well made. You list 3 heavy trigger models, you might look at beretta nano.

Arr! And the fight was often won by whichever side got the man with the torch to the powder storage area --- the other side surrendered at that point!

Even a cheap gun with cheap ammo will make one jagged hole at a few yards (say, under 20) so long as the gun or ammo are not so bad as to be defective. Talking a standard functional gun and a step or 2 up from the rock bottom junk ammo. At "self defense" distances, its ALL the shooter, in other words. There are exceptions... super short barrels for example can't keep up, but talking generalisms here. So, it sounds like the 40 fit YOU well and YOU shot well with that gun using that ammo. I have 9mms that will put all the shots in one hole for me and others that are just awful -- and its the little things that make the difference, grip feel, recoil, trigger, sights, etc. And example is my beretta 92 -- its grip is uncomfortable, the sights are a mess (its 2 dot style, an antique now I guess) and the trigger is crap. I am sure it is capable of great results, but I cant produce them with it.

If I had to buy something, and if my gun liked it, I would probably get a little of the buffalo bore ammo. I like critical defense but its rather weak powder charge made me a little wary of carrying it. The 380s I have currently to carry (though I have moved up to 9mm for the most part) are my own using speer gold dot projectiles and some generic FMJ (both 90 grains). I alternated them in case the hollow points were not penetrating well enough.

It could be, as I said, at my private high or public college, there were blacks in lockstep with me. Odds are against, it, but then again, odds are against it as a white too, I was lucky.
-
Nope, I honestly would not rather be black. But I argue that if the guy hiring is black, he will hire the black guy at times. I agree that people do hire sometimes based off who they identify with, but I argue that a LOT of people in the position of power are no longer whiteys as much as it once was, maybe even at or passed the break even point there, of course depends on where you are and so on -- in a big city, more even, in rual nowhere town, whites control more of the local businesses usually etc. But again, I would not mind being black if the other factors weigh in. For example, I would rather be "me" with black skin (keeping my education, decent income family, and job etc) than be a poor white guy without those opportunities..... from where I stand, its the income gap that is the biggest issue, and that is a handicap (or bonus) between the races ESP between black and white.

To me, it sounds like the military is years behind reality. Time was, there was some truth to those statements. Say, about 1955. And maybe even into the early 80s. By the 80s, though, the truth in the white male stuff was just not cutting it anymore. Overt Homosexuals and "overt" religion could get you a NEGATIVE social stigma, yes --- and it still does in a lot of places. Today, if you are not dressed oddly for your religion, have had a shower in the past week, are not lisping/crossdressing/flaming, can speak plainly in something resembling english, then you can probably fit in and do well at most places. Sure, some places are run by bigots, but on the average, there is no issue anymore. The people that claim constant harassment over their race generally can't speak plainly or have an off-putting behavioral issue or have some sort of unprofessional look that is causing the problem. And white folks can do that too --- give me a morbidly obese biker with tattoos of naked women, greasy unwashed hair, unshaven, unable to talk for 5 min straight without swearing, and all the stereotypes. Now give me a black lesbian woman in a professional business outfit, speaking clearly, and so on? Which one will you hire for say a mehish position but one that involves at least some interaction with clients? Then reverse it, the white guy in a suit and the black gangster? Which one you gonna hire? Its not about race. Now I personally did have a lot of unfair advantages. My dad chose to forgo a lot of fun stuff to pay for private high school. I was blessed with a pretty sound mind. But there were plenty of nonwhites in my class at school --- a guy from japan was the valedictorian, and I recall students from india and any number of nonwhite americans. Most were white, yes. I remember going to ga tech where I would say a very high % of the students were not only not white, but were foreign (india and asian being the bulk), and most of the professors as well (I left because half the professors could not speak well enough to be understood, actually). I am sure that my race certainly has not hurt, but my entire life, anything and everything I have done, there has always been a minority doing the same things. And for every door that was opened, another was shut -- "we were looking for women/minorities for this position, sorry".

that is not bad. There are probably only 2 ways to beat that price, actually... buy ammo and keep the brass if you can find a deal on some ammo, or loot some at a range but the odds of getting more than 10 or so in a day are slim.

Lol I saw the ramp up for this a week or so ago, that peta or whoever was selling drones to their people to spy on unethical hunters. And I predicted this would be the result. And, LOL, those drones are expensive. http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/peta-launches-drone-fleet-advocates-hunter-watching/ says well over 300 bucks a pop, duh. Normally I would frown on the destruction of private property but spying on other people without a warrant is also a crime so I say blast the things until the price becomes too high for this program to continue.

some powders changed and the load data for the "same" type may be different if you use modern data and old powder, at least I was warned of this when I asked about my old powder. Um my powder was close to 20 and it looked nearly identical to today's --- it was in a plastic bottle that more or less looked like today's bottles in other words. If you have something other than plastic, its probably older still.

Most Libertarians do not identify with the Tea Party
Jonnin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not voting does not indicate disgust, it lumps you in with the people who do not care. Right or wrong, the perception is that people who do not vote are lazy and do not really care. Because if it were disgust, we would see much higher turnout for primaries and more interest in them. If it were disgust, there would be a protest of some sort organized, perhaps GO to the polls and leave the ballot blank or write something across it that indicates disgust. SOMETHING, anyway, to send a message rather than just ho-hum wonder who they will get to be senator this year.... Your vote did not do a thing except keep you out of the above category and waste your time. And I said it then and I say it now --- better to have obama in there making democrats look bad than to have romney in there making conservatives look bad. Eyes on the prize --- obama will cause the next president to go conservative if we can get ONE decent candidate this time around. That is a big if though, most likely it will be another bunch of idiots. -
I did not go there! I observe, not judge, and what I have observed is that a lot of parents make a lot of excuses for their offspring while refusing to correct the problem because correcting the problem means they might have to actually MAKE dinner instead of picking up a 2500+ calorie burger or pizza.

A number of semi automatic pistols have a "bell" shape at the muzzle. A number of the kimber models have this feature. If the bulge looks wrong to you, do a web search on the model, look for one with the slide locked back and a good angle on the barrel, you should be able to see if it looks like yours or not. things to consider: a bulged barrel most often prevents a semi auto pistol from working -- the slide won't go over the bulge it most often will not be right at the muzzle it will not look like it was made that way, there will be some slight irregularity to the shape etc you should have noticed something very wrong if you fired a round that warped the barrel -- barrels are TOUGH. all in all it really sounds like "it was made that way".

Well, here I will argue with you a little. The medical conditions that cause a young person to become grossly fat are extremely rare. The vast majority, more than 9/10 of em, are fat because of diet and exercise. When people get older, that may be a lower % as medical conditions for older folks are more common, but we are talking 10 year olds here. You can't tell me that the majority of these 200+ pound 10 year olds ALL have metabolism problems. I would reword that to "in a FEW other cases, it is not".

cool! Yea one of my friends went to the national civil war competition BP whatever it is called stuff every year. He said they shoot into something (piles of sawdust maybe? I forget what he said) and recover the rounds to use again and again due to the costs. I knew you did not fire live rounds in the reenactments lol.

I think it is dumb as hell. 1) it won't do any good, is insulting, and ruins some kid's one day a year to eat the junk. 2) they make and sell sugar free candy by the ton. Buy a bag of that and say something nice, how hard is THAT?

A guy at my highschool couple years ahead of me had one. I dunno if that counts as knowing him or not, I don't even remember his name but I remember the car. That was probably class of 90? I have not seen one up close since, they are kinda few and far between.

Looks like fun, do you ever really fire it or just powder & noise?

Most Libertarians do not identify with the Tea Party
Jonnin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I ID more with the TP than with mainstream republicans and more with libertarians than either of those. Individual idiots on the ballot aside, I would probably vote in this order of preference off party lines -- libertarian, tea party, R OR Ind. and if none of those, I will skip that vote. -
Questions about 9mm load data...... discrepancy
Jonnin replied to ArmyBrat61's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
you need a good scale, but the lee disk system is linear and its really easy to work with. What you do is put the disk in (any disk, any hole). Drop the charge and weight it. Do this many times to get an average weight -- say 10 times. Larger disks are better as the error factor of your scale (say 0.1 grain or whatever your scale is capable of) is less significant in the final answer by doing that. Once you have that, you can do the following... disk size --------------- X desired powder weight = desired disk weight for example, from my load data. I measure as described and determine that accurate 5 gives 6.2 grains in disk 0.40. But I wanted 5 grains for my load data. What disk do I need?? 0.40 / 6.2 X 5.0 = .32 and from my notes disk .34 is very close to 5 grains and is the closest disk to .32. Depending on how maxed out the load you wanted to create was, you can decide if you want to go up or down to get the closest disk match though. If it were nearly a max loat at 5 grains, you would go down not UP, see? If the max load is 5.5 or 6 or something, though, going up is OK. You want to weigh it after doing the math, but if you did it right, you will have the closest disk. And it beats the heck out of trying 5 or 6 holes to get the right one. -
Mine is SAO converted now. Which really gave it a meh glockish trigger instead of the expected 1911ish trigger -- long spongy pull on a spring before anything happens to the sear, and the reset is fairly long as well. And the goofball working on it swapped the mag drop to left handed ... and NOTHING ELSE. We had words about that, but time I sent it back and paid shipping both ways a second time, it was not worth it, so now I have a weird gun. Its a great platform, just a little wonky. I need to straighten it out, its on my to-do list.

its hit or miss with powder being the most likely to be sold out. They have tons of bullets, but mostly expensive stuff there. Primers are ususally in stock but not always.
