Yep. It misfired :P (hammer down and no fire coming out the muzzle).

I would vote for him but I wonder if he could be able to lead. Dunno, could be, or not. I wonder about his age (he will be 66 in 2014, and 70 starting his second term, and 74 as he exits if he wins both.. that is just about too old..). Not so much that I think he would be the best ever, but he would for sure be a cut above the usual garbage we get in a primary.

You don't attach them. You post the image somewhere else, and put in a link to it here. Inside your post, then you have textual tags that indicate a picture, looks like this [im g] http:yadablahblah.stuff/pic.jpg [/im g] *** im g would be img but if I made the tag correct, you could not read it because it would try to make a picture.

Good self defense training around the Chattanooga area?
Jonnin replied to mav's topic in Training Discussions
You can't really make any assumptions at all. There are skinny nerdy guys that are fast and strong, old guys that can move better than you would believe, fat guys that used to be jocks, and so on. You have to go into any confrontation assuming the other guy is stronger, faster, and better than you are --- then plan accordingly. If you were wrong in your assumption, that is a good thing. If you were right, hopefully your plan works. -
I tried to but its just a buzzword fiesta. Which is why I asked about it --- their documents go on and on about thwarting violence (a good thing, sure) but come up short on the "how" that is to be done. Its very much an inner city / ghetto program and combine the 3 key features (new york, violence prevention, minority community) and I worry a bit.... but nowhere are guns/weapons mentioned at all....

Yep. For this reason I still "install" programs the old fashioned way whenever possible --- dump the files on the disk, give em a shortcut to the executable, done. Registry? Bah! Installers? Bah! Its not always possible to do that, but more often than not, these toys are unnecessary. You can always do a splash screen with a progress bar if your customers require an "installer". Thankfully windows will tell you where it thinks the program files folder is, so you don't even have to look for it. I do get the occasional "how you uninstall this" but they accept the shift+delete answer.

http://www.newschannel9.com/news/top-stories/stories/chattanooga-pays-240000-help-cut-crime-7508.shtml Am I getting jumpy or does that seem to be a quiet gun control in the works..?

Voldemort wishes he had it this easy

He did well but IMHO the 3 guys were not over the top either. If you are not required to offer ID, then you are not required to offer ID and do not have to comply. They were not so bad -- certain someones would have been threatening to sue by the 5 min mark. Me, I would have let him see the gun and asked to meet up to shoot the full auto, that sounded like an OFFER for a fun day and they ignored it. Me, I am thinking this guy is cool, could even become a friend, and a friend who is a LEO is a good thing to have. I probably would have shown my ID and recruited him for the cause -- hey, why don't you stay here and hang with us and explain to the sheep that what we are doing is legal and nothing to be concerned over? Course, I would not be hauling an AR around to make a point, either. I don't have that much free time nor motivation. -
The tube red dot sights are not that much more than the window type. Its the same electronics anyway, I think --- both systems reflect the dot onto a single pane of glass --- so all you are paying for "extra" is additional plastic around the system. I dunno, http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Green-Sight-Adaptor-Flip-Open/dp/B004HICPHW/ref=sr_1_3/181-1398368-6057116?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1382013860&sr=1-3&keywords=red-dot+sight came up in my search at $45. This type eliminates the glare, and if you still have problems you can get "lens caps" that are polarized to go over some models. Both types can have issues with reflections and glare depending on the lighting, but the tube offeres the filter caps and the window does not have any options that I know of. Also, I cracked 3 of the window type on my .22 -- best I can tell it was from being hit by spent cases bouncing back. I have yet to destroy a tube, so they *seem* to me to be slightly more rugged.

4350 is probably not a good pick for 30-30. 322 you may be able to use but I could not find reliable data. h4198 looks like the winner for 30-30. The hodgens site says a 150 grain flat nosed sierra uses 21.5 grains so I would say start with 20. Sounds like a "close enough" bullet match to me? http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

Lol norton has not been worth a hoot since peter left or died or whatever happened to him. He was good --- the monkeys that run it since then, not so good. I use kapersky which I got free thru my ISP. Its pretty good, but like most, its a hog. MOST antivirus that actually works uses more CPU and memory etc than the actual viruses. Macs are better than they were. Ever since they converted their OS to quasi-unix, they have been a lot more open to the user and 1000x improved. Still can't run some games and windows software and cost 15%+ more for nearly every component but they are decent machines.

Tell you what, you are in my town... you buy the dies and bullets and I would be happy to refill em for you.
-
we find a fair number of shorts and buy them when we find them -- they shoot great in our revolvers. Probably would work in my bolt actions as well, have not tried but I see no reason why not.

congrats! It was a serious tossup between the shield and 938 for me, but the 938 won out for personal preference reasons only. The shield is a sweet design.

this is all labeled as in-stock. Its EXPENSIVE though. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/Search/Default.aspx?k=243+wssm+ammunition&ksubmit=y also it would seem you could cut up a 300 something to make brass. Or if you have any brass, consider reloading it?

Thinking about starting to reload
Jonnin replied to Johnny Rotten's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
wolf and tula are weaker from what I have seen of other peoples chrono data. Not sure about pmc. ALL of those are weaker than NATO: they are the lower pressure 223 spec ammo! I think if you handload to NATO spec (or appropriate pressure/velocity/bullet weight "similar" round) and put it on the same links as the LC, it will work. But me thinking it and it working are 2 different things -- gotta try a few to see what happens. -
Different glitch: they said it was caused by a computer shutdown by a power failure.

They cannot. But in 25 years, most transactions will be on guns that were new after this law, and it starts to "work". Then, if someone has a gun from "somewhere" and commits a crime, they trace it back and found out that you bought it from a store 10 years back. At which point you look shocked and surprised, go open your sock drawer, nope its not there, someone stole it in the last 5 years.... I dunno when that happened officer.... Its always, always about the money. Everything is always about the money. NYs new laws tax ammo per round. The new transfer rules make it pass thru a costly transaction every time it is bought/sold. The new 7 round rule means having to buy new mags that are probably taxed (at least a sales tax). With guns, there is a punative element to attack their political enemies with the laws, but the main reason is always money.

Thinking about starting to reload
Jonnin replied to Johnny Rotten's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Not sure about that issue. In an ideal world if you used the same links, the ammo should work if it is generally the right size and shape and has enough oomph to cycle. If that is not the case, I have no clue what it could be... ?? Seems odd that if the LC links with other ammo do not work. -
Sounds like they are even more busted in LA (state). Apparently they had NO LIMIT for a while and many shoppers racked up big-time.
-
Dry fire test? Point at a target, fire, and see where you are pointed after (should still be dead on the point of aim, if not, you moved your hand when you fired). EDIT: you should know it if you have one, but some top end 1911s are not to be dry fired, in whcih case, you use a snap cap.
-
Good to know, thanks! I may take it apart later to check it out, probably not a good idea to tear it down at work.
-
400 rounds is "8 boxes" for 130 bucks. 130 / 8 is 16.25 per box. That sounds like it is not any better than most of the cheap factory ammo to me ????
-
^^^ whatever that is, I cannot *see* it. But if its in the manual its probably there on both designs.
-
I would think it would be either/or, not both. that is, 1/2 cocked and draw/thumb hammer back OR cocked and locked. Still one motion to perform either way (hammer or safety) -- so *if* you can do it, and practice, either one should be workable. Safety is much, much easier to do though.
