  1. Thanks, MIL has always said she would burn anything in her insert, but, she has bucked on this poplar. I'll split and stack it and can use it camping or in our fire pit if she doesn't want it. Probably best not to use in our fireplace. Sure was a big tree! Image didn't load right, but, if your tilt your head to the right just a little....
  2. We had to have a large Poplar tree taken down in our yard. My mother in law has a fireplace insert and I thought she would want the wood, however, someone has told her that Poplar wood, "pops", and could blow the door off of her insert. I know it is not the best choice for firewood but there sure is a lot of it. I can't imagine that it could have enough "pop" to blow open an insert door. I know there are several knowledgeable "wood" people on the forum, burn in the fireplace insert, or, just use in the back yard fire pit? Thanks
  3. Well his description of the guy was, "when he looks at you, he looks like he would just as soon kill you as speak to you".
  4. Recently a friend had contact with a supposed member of the Bloods at his place of employment. A security guard, who had previous LE experience in another state told him he knew the guy was a Blood  because of a tattoo on his right arm.  The supposed Blood was a white guy, I was under the impression to be a Blood that you would be African American?   I'm just curious, I figured some of the LE guys could enlighten me. From what the security guy said there must be a lot more gang activity then the average person knows. At least this average person.   Thanks
  5. I've been going to the gym for about a year and half and have struggled losing weight. I feel better and have more stamina but the belly just will not leave. During a recent doctor visit I had my testosterone checked and it was at the low end of the range, Doc suggested trying Androgel, tonight will be my third application, having blood drawn in three weeks, back to see the Doc in four. He says it could help with weight loss, among other things, we'll see. Either way I enjoy the gym and warmer weather the bike will come back out. Turning 61 in June, I have the same belly my dad had, didn't think when I was younger it would happen to me!
  6. My wife had her first total knee 3 year ago, her second in October, was back working 12 hour shifts in the hospital in 11 weeks. From an observer, pain if pretty intense the first couple to three weeks, progressively better after that. As stated before, rehab is the key to full recovery. There is some pain and swelling for 6 months to a year, but from what she says nothing like the pain she had before. She is 55 and walks without a limp now, plus, we are able to get out and walk again.
  7. I'm going to suggest the Toyota RAV4, wife chose it over the CRV. Good get up and go, around 30 highway mpg's, did well in the snow this week.
  8. I should know better by now, but, I am always amazed at the knowledge this forum contains, with a good amount of humor interspersed!
  9. The Petsafe wireless was the one we were looking at, we live in the sticks so we have plenty of room for them to roam. How big of an area will the Petsafe wireless give them. They are both lab mixes and hard headed as  mules. Ease of installation is another reason for considering the wirless.
  10. Anyone have any experience with these? Checking reviews online and seems all of the one I looked at have mixed reviews from it works great to pieces of junk.   TIA
  11. He went to his Uncles last night and played about 2 hours, he's happy with his choice! Again, I appreciate the input.
  12. Good question, I was there for moral support and green. I can tell you it was a Taylor, acoustic/electric. I will find out more and report back. I have discovered there is as many disagreements  over "what you should have gotten"  as there is about brands of guns!
  13. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, the hunt ended yesterday after a trip to Guitar Center!  Being a novice playing right handed is intriguing to him, but at this point he in does not want to back the learning curve up after the progress he has made playing lefty.   Dale Sellers, no clue for this old boy!
  14. Thanks for the suggestions, I don't know if he has tried playing right handed, I will suggest that to him, he plays with his uncle who is right handed so he access. He has his eyes on one online, BF deal discounted and and a 15% coupon on top of that, have to order today though. Will guitar center let you return if he doesn't like it out of the box?
  15. Our son has recently picked up the guitar we got him 10 or so years ago, and now, he would like to get a better one. A big issue is that he plays left handed and apparently there is not a big selection of lefty models to choose from in the guitar center in Knoxville. I would think we might find a better selection in Nashville? Maybe people searching for a lefty gun Have a similar issue. Would we have more luck making a road trip to Nashville? TIA
  16. Control + will enlarge the screen, I don't have cataracts and still have to do that sometimes to be able to read.
  17. Got it this morning while at the allergist, better safe than sorry, I think....
  18. Well I'm having problems loading Windows 10. I get to about 75% complete, restarts and then an error "attempted execute no execute memory", recovers and continues installing, a few minutes later another reboot, error "migrate data" reverts back to windows 8.1. Any suggestions?   By the way, loaded on my laptop running 7 with no issues!   TIA
  19. Hey Dolo, are you aware of Corryton Alignment Center, they are on Emory Road just past Corryton Road on the right. They would be a real good alternative to Walmart for auto repairs. They were recommended to me when we moved back, have used them a few times and have been satisfied with their work.
  20. American made, head quartered in Tennessee. Prices are reasonable.   http://www.americangusset.com/
  21. I know someone that had this problem, Doctor prescribed cholestyramine. It is a powder that is prescribed for high cholesterol, but, it also absorbs the bile that gets dumped into your system when you eat. There were many times we would eat out, get in the car to leave and she would have to run back in the restaurant, sometimes more than once. Made a world of difference when she started using that daily.
  22. I bought a Gransfor splitting maul a few years ago, money well spent.
