Here’s something else I’ve wanted to try but haven’t yet. I have an Excalibur crossbow with a pretty nice scope on it that is amazingly accurate out to 35 or maybe even 40 yards or so on a calm day. I’ve wanted to try it on yotes from these comfy lease stands. This bow will put arrows in a 1” circle shooting from a rigid rest. I’ve watched some YouTube video’s of guys shooting yotes from their deer stands with bolts and they are effective for sure. The strange thing is, sometimes when multiple yotes come to the call, they won’t run off since there’s no gunshot and will actually almost attack the wounded yote until it dies giving you multiple chances to shoot the others.

I like it and I’m rigged out pretty good. electronic call with a remote and a decoy. I hide the call and set the decoy a couple of feet away from it. I think it helps. Especially with younger yotes that have no call experience. sometimes they run right in. I usually hunt from the raised field stands on my lease. They don’t ever look up at them it seems.

Thank you Dave. I understand the pain issues. With motorcycles, dirt bikes, football and just plain stupid stuff, I’ve dealt with a lot of it. This has been a breeze so far. When the nerve block wears off I’ll know more and fill you in on what happens, but up until now, I’d do it over again with no worries. I’m sure rehab is going to be tough, but it’s a necessary evil. Just do some research on doctors first. I used Timothy Ballard here in Chattanooga. He’s been doing it for over 20 years and is highly recommended in my area.

Again thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I went into surgery at 10am and was home by 6pm. My after surgery PT went really smooth and after the gourmet hospital lunch and PT session I was processed and out of there. I know the nerve block is doing it’s job well and I keep waiting on the pain to kick in, but so far not much at all. I can flex my knee back to about 70 degrees and straighten it back out and I’m walking around the house every 2 hours and doing the sliding exercises as prescribed. I’m sliding the walker around, but I’m able to walk fairly normal and place all of my 265 lbs on it with no trouble. Of course I may be in the fetal position crying profusely (haha) when the nerve block ends in 24 to 48 hours they say. As of now the only thing I feel is a kind of soreness like the day after a good workout in the gym. I’m also keeping ice on the bottom and top while sitting down. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, prayers and all of the encouragement and advice on PT. I’ve got to be there at 7am so I’ll be “seeing” y’all in a day or two. This is quite a family we have here on TGO. Merry Christmas guys.

Thanks hipower. I’m ready to get this done and after 3 knee surgeries, and a shoulder, I successfully pulled those off and got full mobility. I’m gonna git er done. I’m a bit overweight, but I’m still pretty active and I’m gonna attack this like I always have. I appreciate the encouragement

Thanks Tuffus. I’m hoping for that kind of success. I’m not much of a bike rider anymore, but I do a lot of hiking in the mountains. Well, I say a lot I used to do a lot like I did 5 miles on my 65th birthday, but with this knee I’ve been very limited the last 2 years. I’m hoping I can build that back up. My insurance won’t do the ice machine and I’m sure they are great, but I have 3 friends that have had this done in the past year and a half and didn’t use one. I’ll check again though.

Thanks No_one. I hope mine turns out as good as other folks I know that have had it. Everyone says I’ll hate the first 2 weeks but then when it’s over it’s great. Like I mentioned, I’ve had 3 surgeries on it already so I’m very familiar with PT....and thanks for the encouragement!

Yep. Therapy is the secret to recovery for sure! I was offered that, but declined. It’s $250 that I don’t really have and I’ve been using ice packs for years, so I’ll have to tough it out. Thanks for the reference though

Thank you DaveTN. I will as soon as I get settled at home. She is going to be able to stay, or so they said last Friday at the pre admission appointment since the COVID virus wasn’t at a critical stage. At that time they said I’d probably spend one night and about 75% of the patients do. But I got a call this morning and the hospital is now trying to get everyone out the same day unless absolutely necessary for someone to have to stay so now I’m not so sure. I guess something changed in the COVID department. The Thanksgiving rush I suppose.

Thank you MacGyver. My doctor said the ones they are using now are far better than the ones they used just 6 years ago. I guess it’s like computers...LOL. I’m kinda dreading it, but I’ve had enough of the pain. I’m going to miss my favorite time of the year to crappie fish, but I’ll be ready in the spring.

After 3 surgeries and nothing left to work with in there, I’m having a knee replaced. Thursday is the day. Prayers appreciated. Successful surgery and no COVID picked up by wifey and I.

Tellico river is one of my regular and favorite places. That and the hiwassee. Both are stocked very well. The hiwassee is much bigger and has some huge trout in it. I’ve not caught anything really big, but I’ve seen some really nice ones that others have caught. By the way, the tellico hatchery is an amazing place to visit. They have some really huge breeders

I do understand. That is true. fishing license, trout stamp, special permit for tellico plains and Smokey mountains for example. But then so is big game hunting, wildlife management areas, quota hunts which also require additional stamps added to a hunting license. When I turned 65 I bought the lifetime sportsman license so I wouldn’t have to worry about any of it. That wasn’t cheap either. I’m not sure, but I’ve heard Georgia don’t hit sportsman so hard, but Tennessee sure has some nice fishing opportunities.

Personally, I love trout fishing. I’m not a fly fisherman, just a good ‘ol open faced spinner and chest waders. The TWRA has a great website with everything you need to know to catch trout. They are delicious grilled with the skin on and some lemon pepper. So easy to clean and eat and really fun to catch. If this has been posted before, I missed it, so forgive me. I thought it was hilarious and wanted to share it. A Pastor bought a Donkey and decided to enter him in a race. The donkey won. The Pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the race again and it won again. The local paper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT. The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the Pastor not to enter the donkey in another race. The next day the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS. This was too much for the Bishop so he ordered the Pastor to get rid of the donkey. The Pastor decided to give it to a Nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN. The Bishop fainted. He informed the Nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey so she sold it to a farm for $10. The next day the paper read: NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10 This was too much for the Bishop so he ordered the Nun to buy back the donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. The next day the headlines read: NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE. The Bishop was buried the next day. The moral of the story is . . . being concerned about public opinion can bring you much grief and misery and even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life. Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and just cover your own !!! You'll be a lot happier and live longer!

I’m saying it because the subject of gun control was never mentioned by Biden nor was the question ever asked by the leftist moderators in the Trump/Biden Presidential debates. It was by design I’m sure since many more people watch those than the nominee debates. I’m sure it was covered in the democrat debates with each participant trying to prove how much more left/socialist they were than the others. As far as the SC having our backs that’s in question now with the democrats threats to pack the court so that they can pass anything they want by taking control of the WH, Congress, Senate and SC. I don’t for a minute think this is an empty threat. Their desire to control our every move, eliminate freedom, destroy the GOP and “fundamentally change America” is real and so strong they will proceed with the execution of their mantra “win by any means necessary”, like ballot harvesting and other types of fraud through mail in voting, a favorite method of elections by Hugo Chavez and many other dictators. It’s the intent to fundamentally change America that makes the democrats so dangerous. It means they want to actually change the very foundation of our countries existence into something other than what we have now. To do that, they will have to disarm American citizens as a first step.

Wel, if the Democrats win control of the country, that being the congress and senate and White House, (there’s a very strong possibility of this) you’ll have to beat them to death with a ball bat for this law to apply anyway.

As I understand it, if the mask is not an N95 type, it will not protect me from getting the china virus from others and this fact is clearly written on the boxes of masks I’ve seen being sold and even the ones given out for free at most stores I’ve been in like Food City, Lowes, Sams etc....that are supplying free masks. If it’s not going to protect me from the virus, It won’t protect others from getting it from me if I’m a carrier with no symptoms. The virus is so small it passes right through it. Same goes for bandanas, neck gators, or whatever cloth cover you wear. I don’t wear a mask, but I wipe or wash my hands a lot. I have a bandana soaked in 90% alcohol in a jar in my home and in my vehicle. When I come out I wipe the door handles, steering wheel, keys and last of all my hands with the bandana. Then back in the jar it goes to be used next time. The bandana stays saturated for about 2 weeks before I have to pour more alcohol in it. It doesn’t take much alcohol at all. I’ve been doing this since the beginning. Personally I don’t know anyone that has contracted this virus. I hope things stay that way.

I use this website a lot for RV camping. It’s for the National Park campgrounds. You can check availability, make reservations and all right from this site. It will show you campgrounds front he closest to you to as far as you want to go in the USA. Very nice pricing too. Rarely will you see full hookups, but almost always water and electric. Most have dump stations though. Recreation.gov
