  1. Yep!! So did I!! Guns too!
  2. I don't disagree at all. I just see it as something a person could use to possibly call the cops and say you threatened them. That's why I presented it more as a question. I could see that happening and then leading to an expensive defense lawyer to fight the charges. This may not be true, I was just wondering if that could happen.
  3. I like it anyways. Exaggeration? Probably......but still gets the point across.
  4. I do Prime and Redbox exclusively.
  5. It'd be a good idea to read this also, since it is involved in 102. Right? 39-13-101. Assault. (a) A person commits assault who: (1) Intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another; (2) Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury; or (3) Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another and a reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative. So....number (2) could be construed if one has his hand on a holstered weapon? I mean it could be drawn at anytime.
  6. I do workout regularly. A little over 2 years ago, in February, I weighed in at 298 on the hoof. I said that's it. I'm getting my arse out and getting some exercise. My friend and neighbor got me started at Planet Fitness. I've had knee issues, but decided the treadmill was my tool. My first day I turned it up to 15 minutes, 2.3 speed with no incline. I had to turn it off at the 5 minute mark. I could hardly breath. I went home with my tail between my legs. But, I stuck with it and six months later I was doing 45 minutes at 3 speed at a 6 incline. Over the course of that year, I lost 56 lbs. My sugar dropped from 7 to 5.3. Last year I rarely got to work out at all due to life, but about a months ago, I joined the local YMCA and I'm in the process of getting back into the swing of things. I'm still around 245 and didn't put much of the old weight back on, but my goal is to get down to around 200 over the next year. My knee is worse, probably from the year of treadmill I did, and now I'm only doing weights and swimming. I'm probably going to have a knee replacement next year and that is another catalyst to me losing all I can. I do love the YMCA pool and I'm doing laps every other day. I'm sure my sleeplessness is stress related, but I'm working on that also. I really appreciate all the ideas and replies and I am definitely going to pursue them all to see what helps. I was really just posting something at like 2am this morning out of frustration and boredom I guess, but it's nice to know people are on your side. That's another thing that makes this such a unique place.
  7. Thanks. I'll give that a try as well. It says in the article that some people mix it with hops. Hmm.....a couple of beers and some Valerian Root just might do the trick. LOL Bourbon is one thing I can't drink. I think it's the sour mash. One shot and I'm throwing up in 30 minutes. Scotch, Irish Whiskey.....they don't do me that way, but I drink very little alcohol at all. Some wine every now and then is about it.
  8. Thanks Mac. Yep, I had shoulder surgery about 12 years ago and went through the same thing. I try to stay busy and get things done through the day and I work out at the Y, and that helps sometimes, but not always. I have my yearly checkup with the Doctor in a few weeks. I'm going to talk to him about it. Right now I hate night time. Sometimes I can't get to sleep, other times I can, but wake up and can't get back to sleep. Crazy. Thanks, I'll give that a try.
  9. Not being able to sleep sometimes is really a drag. But having insomnia for months now is really getting on my nerves. 4 or so hours a night, 5 or maybe 6 if I'm lucky. I sure wish I knew how to fix it. If the storms would let up I could at least go fish all night.
  10. Is there anyone here that does NOT get an image in their mind when you hear the word THUG? Be honest now folks. That being said, I doubt that everybody that dresses and looks "thugish" is a thug, but every thug dresses and looks "thugish". That's MHO.
  11. I hope everyone has a good day today with friends and family. We all know this but Independence day and Veterans day both teach us that freedom is not free. I just wish many more people would embrace this fact of life. My wife and I are having fried crappie with corn, steak fries, slaw and hush puppies with our closest and dearest friends. I hope others are doing something similar.
  12. 22LR is plentiful again. Most places have dropped the limit on purchases. Not sure about wallyworld. they were playing right in with those inbred neckbearded guys hands with their entourage of buyers though.
  13. I'd like to add that if the justice side of our society wasn't ran with the rotating door philosophy and plea deals, that might some day be possible. Bad people would not be outside and those that thought about doing a crime might think twice. Here in Chattanooga, you can search the criminal court cases for the past 25 years or so at home on your computer. I recently went in and was looking for someone in particular and you would not believe how many people are in there that took 3 pages to cover their crimes. Many were arrested multiple times over these crimes which included drugs, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful carry of a firearm, driving while intoxicated, with suspended licenses 5 or 6 times, robbery and burglary, assaulting an officer, passing bad checks, forgery......and I do mean multiple times by the same person over and over again. Sometimes only weeks or months apart, some had been arrested for the same crimes over a dozen times in 5 years. Why? What happened to the 3 strikes laws? These people are habitual criminals, don't work and know nothing else. Yet there they are, out on the streets. They have no fear of getting caught, because they know they'll be out in no time and ready to go back to the same lifestyle. There's no teeth to the justice systems bite. There has to be a lot of hair pulling by police that go out every day, risk their life, make arrests and know the person has been arrested multiple times and will soon be right back out on the streets. My question is, HOW do these people continue to beat the system? If I get caught with a DUI, I'm out $10,000 or so the TV commercials say. How do these people get caught with a DUI 5 or 6 times and stay out of jail? I was really shocked and in amazement by what I found searching these records. As long as this condition exists, nothing is going to change in the criminal world. It doesn't have to.
  14. My point was simply this. I've rode a lot of miles on large bikes like cruisers and a couple of Goldwings I've owned. A huge number of people out riding today would not have rode away like this guy did, upright on his MC. They would have ridden away in the back of an ambulance after crashing into the wall. I've seen people crash a cruiser like that trying to stop at a convenience store. I do agree it was 2 idiots.
  15. Dude's a good rider though....I'll give him that. In about 5 seconds we see an awesome recovery from hitting the wall, an E-stop (or close to it), evasion action around an object in the road, then another E-stop(or close to it) while performing evasive action around a bouncing truck. It ain't his first ride!
  16. Whew.....I rode for years and would NEVER even think of doing what this rider did. He's lucky he didn't get killed pulling this stunt. Crazy.... http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-40380154/california-road-rage-results-in-motorway-car-crash
  17. Even if he said "I'm about to pull it out." What was he pulling out? According to the GF he had been instructed to show his ID. He had been instructed to NOT touch his weapon as I understand it. Again, communication can make the difference. "OK sir, I'm going to pull my wallet out of my pocket. Is that what you want me to do?" would be much more clear than "I'm about to pull it out." I don't think he was even talking about his gun. I think he was talking about his ID. The cop was scared and shot him anyway. The guy would have been crazy to tell the officer he was "about to pull out" his gun with a nervous scared cop holding down on him.....IMO that is.
  18. Yes indeed. I actually know a couple and that is obvious from the way they talk. It's like they think they're Navy Seals the way they carry themselves, talk and look down on others sometimes. Another thing about this topic. I have no idea what the training is about in the academies. How to survive is obviously very important and needed. But so is how to treat and interact with the public they are supposed to serve and protect. They should know the laws and have training on this on a regular basis. Even in my career, we had constant training, several times a year, yet in my job there was no threat of someone dying from being mis-identified. I'd also like to add, I read every week about police doing great things for someone. Going above and beyond the call. It's obvious that the problem is not the police force, it's individuals that shouldn't be there at all which is true in any profession. Maybe it's attitude, fear of getting shot, or other things that can play into the mix. I think it's mental attitude mostly. Some people shouldn't be there. I think sometimes these people are known within the force but no one wants to get involved, so what actually happens everyone suffers. The good cops suffer as public trust erodes and so does the public when it gets to an "us and them" attitude.
  19. In this thread I'm hearing some say to get your license (mine is always in a back pocket in my wallet) and registration (mine is always in the glove box) out and roll down the windows. If dark, then turn on the dome light and be ready when the officer approaches. I used to think this was the proper thing to do. Now, I'll say I'm not sure what to do. If you do the above, the approaching officer is going to see someone through the vehicles back or side glass, reaching into their pocket and/or someone leaning over and digging for the registration (or something....in his mind he's not sure). Both of these locations are often times where a firearm could possibly be. In todays world, I can see this turning out very bad especially if a certain situation occurs as it did in the OP, depending on the officers mental state at that moment (robbery a mile down the road and you fit the description for instance). I'm thinking it might be best to stay put with your hands on the top of the wheel and only respond to his commands after he has approached. Maybe even repeat his command back to him, "I understand you want me to reach into my back pocket and get out my wallet with ID sir. Is that correct?" Then, "I understand you want me to retrieve my registration from the vehicle glove box sir. Is that correct?" It's a really sad world we are living in when this might be necessary just to stay alive while going out to eat a meal, or to pick up the kids from school....ya know? And as far as people respecting others, that's completely out the window as far as so many people goes. Just go bass fishing with me on Chickamauga some day or night. You won't believe how selfish and the screw you attitudes that prevail. It's pathetic really.

  21. ABC news had an article and said about the same thing, but added that he had made threats against the woman already. He came to her door with the rifle and opened the door and shot him. Again, no charges were filed.
