I appreciate you posting this but, I'm just so sick of the high prices.

It's disheartening, but unfortunately it looks to me the "New Norm", at least for the time being. Sad indeed.

Thanks for posting the various links @The Legion.

Like @RED333 posted. Even though the price is high it disappears quickly.

It makes me appreciate what I have and at the same time feel bad for those that find themselves unprepared.

I have family that are in the group, in fact my brother has our Dads old Winchester 30-30 that needs ammo, trying to help him out, I do not reload for this caliber.

It's a difficult situation @RED333.

I've slimmed down my caliber selection significantly as I've aged. I have helped family as I can, but there's only so much a person can do.

We all know everyone should have seen the potential coming and prepared, but not everyone is of the mindset of the majority here.

Like I said, it's difficult my friend.

Bartering seems a good way to go to get ammo, trade one caliber for another.  I'm good on everything right now except some 6.5 CM, but it is not a "need" for me.  One thing I found rather strange..well, thinking about it not so much, but anyway, the rolls of caps for the toy guns have become unobtainium lately, most are either gone (OOS) or priced much higher.  For those that may ask, they can be used to make your own primers.  I expect a run on strike anywhere matches coming too, it is good to be prepared.

I agree 100% @Omega. Bartering has certainly taken off well in our classified section. It makes good sense.

I wholeheartedly embrace the concept.

I have a good supply of strike anywhere matches, just because it/they make good sense.

I guess I should have stuck back rolls of caps! Good suggestion. Maybe I will when they come back in stock. 🙂

I hate to tell you, but they disappeared about 8-10 years ago for the most part.  BTW I put some of those back just in case, plus I have a fireplace insert and actually use them. I saved about 1,000 small pistol primers that had been removed from brass and I put a note in that box that said, I hope I never need these!! I have never tried it but a buddy that passed a few years ago had used the strike anywhere matches and he was particular about things and tried several things to cover the compound and he said the thin foil that is in some hershey bars are the ticket and place the anvil on top of this, he claimed good results. Unless this primer issue goes on for a couple of years I'm good.

I have a tool to make BP caps, uses the roll caps to make the charge, along with a grain or 2 of BP in the nipple and they are about 100% good to go.

I read an article years ago about that tool for BP caps. The author had a tool for no. 11 caps. It punched a cap out of aluminum cans.
