This is one thing my circle of people disagree with me about. If you serve your time, then all rights should be restored the moment you step out of that cell. If that's an issue with "The People", then the length of the sentence wasn't correct.

I STRONGLY AGREE, sir. I have a real good friend who did something dumb ONE TIME when he was 18 and that felony has ruined his life. It was non-violent and like you said, he served his time over 40 yrs ago. What's the point of calling it rehabilitation, if we ruin their life?

If you are not a danger to society, then what good does incarceration do?  If you ARE a danger to society, then why should you be let loose?

Seems simple enough to me.  For some folks, perhaps the old '30 days in the hole' would get them to change their ways.  But, I don't see many folks who 've been in more than once changing their ways.
