Deer season 2023 thread

what did the rut look like for everyone? I live in Cheatham county just across the Davidson county line. I seen the most deer activity the weekend of Juvenile, the week following and it started slowing the opening weekend of muzzleloader. Didn't see any rubs or scrapes until second week of muzzleloader but deer never came around much except at night. What has everyone else been experiencing? I have a relative in Robertson county who has some good hunting land and they haven't seen many mature bucks at all this year, hardly no sign of rut and they typically get some real good bucks each year.

Wonder how much the drought has played into this along with the hotter temps that were late?

Bucks chasing does during muzzleloader season here. Saw a buck chasing a doe yesterday evening. I think it’s slowing a bit.

Wow, that is a good looking buck. But we need more of the story come on man. Rifle, pistol, caliber, knife, spear, bow, and arrow jump down and stick your finger in him and kill him?

148 yard shot. Hunting over cut corn field. Only buck I seen that morning. Was using my Browning BAR 30-06. Shooting Winchester Deer Season xp 150 grain. That Belgium BAR was my step dads and he bought it brand new in the 80's. Shot my first deer with it when I was 12. Im now 45 and its still a shooter.

Finally shot a doe a few minutes ago for meat. I didn’t take a pic. It looks like every other doe.😁

I shot it with a 93 Spanish Mauser I bought for $30 years ago. One shot and dead right there.

Congrats. I got skunked last weekend out in Waverly. Plenty of drags and tracks across the cornfield. Picked the coldest weekend of the year to sit in a blind and birdwatch. Don’t know if I’ll make it out again this season but happy for everyone’s success.
