Not to thread hi-jack, but I strongly disagree with your statement. It is for sure no treason to think nor state that this country is on the wrong path and it's best days may very well be behind us if we don't get our act together.

I'm not even sure that it's unpatriotic to say that, you can feel concern for the direction of the country but still want what is best for it at the same time.

I can say for sure that the country I live in today isn't the country I was born into nor the country my grand father fought for 60+ years ago, let alone the country he was born into... Does that mean I'm unpatriotic?

It's perfectly ok in my book to say we made a wrong turn, and it's getting time to make a turn back to the right direction... The question really is where did we make that wrong turn? Was in Lincoln, Wilson, or FDR? Nothing unpatriotic about questioning our past and how it's going to hurt us in the future.

I don't want to derail this thread, but comments like this really irk me. You may disagree with the policies, you may disagree with the policy makers, but there's absolutely no reason for any patriotic American to claim that this country is no longer a "great nation". That sort of talk plants seeds of treason in the minds of others. If you really feel that way, I can recommend other English-speaking countries to which you could move and laud their own "greatness". :D

Back to your regularly scheduled ranting...

Signed,

This really isnt the country our grandfathers fought for.

Lets see...in their day, they had two world wars, the dust bowl, the great depression, lots of disease with primitive medical technology,no real form of transportation, had to take baths outside...after their 10 brothers, and sisters, had to walk uphill everywhere they went, had to grow their own food.

But,they were able to leave their doors wide open 24\7!

Today,we have Obama!

Yup,I'd say they had it better! :D

Its funny that school administrators have more sense than the law. I agree that there is simply no provision in the law to allow carrying on school grounds without being a uniformed guard.

As for the interesting discussion regarding the country, I have no doubt that we are on a downward slide. If nothing else is considered, just look at what is being done financially by our government. The dollar continues to lose value, and the debt is mounting up to unbelievable levels. The wealth of the US is clearly being sapped and sent into the rest of the world, particularly China, which is of course exactly what the UN wants. Since there is no plan or political will to get spending under control, our country will go into some form of bankruptcy. It is just a matter of time. No one can spend and spend and spend without it coming to a head at some point.

And this is just considering the financial issues. The moral issues going on this country are another matter.

Thats OK. You're as welcome to disagree with my statement as I am to disagree with Oldogy's comment that this nation is formerly great. That's the beauty of posting on a message forum; by hitting [sUBMIT] you pretty much invite everyone else to comment on whatever you said.
