Bought a New Toy Today

I bought a Hi-Point C9 9mm today. Ok, I know they have one of the worst reps out there but for the price, the unlimited lifetime warranty, and the fact that it's totally made in the USA I couldn't resist it. When I go out to the range I will let you know how it performs. If you have ever owned or shot one let me know how it went. I'm curious to hear your stories.

PS. I'm gonna need all the Hi-Point haters to lay off. If you're going to criticize make it constructive.

I don't have one, but I hear they are very reliable. Can't go wrong with a 9mm for the price.

well....i see lots of geo metro's on the road. To me...thats a high point. It will work day to day if you dont drive it to hard. If i had a interview 200 miles away i wouldnt drive a metro. If my friend told me someone would break into my house tonight i would not sit around with a highpoint in my pocket....JMHO

I bought a Walther P99 9mm and my buddy bought two Hi-Points in 9mm and I believe .40. I thought that he had wasted his money and that I would outshooting him at the range.

Yeahhhh, I remember he had one FTE and we each shot our 200 WWB with no issues. Thats the one time I've shot one, hopefully you got as a reliable pistol. He still has one of them and leaves it in the truck, slight rusting but functions.

I bought a Hi-Point .40 haven't got to fire it yet. I got mine for the same reasons you listed. A friend of mine bought a 9mm just to leave in his Jeep. He loves it.

I have the C9 and have put a lot of rounds through it with no problems super reliable. I couldn't resist for the price and reasons you gave as well.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to polish the feed ramp but that's no big deal. It's still a great deal for the price.

Hi-points have great reps as far as function.... they're just ugly as all get out! Seriously you got a great tool.

From what I have read about them, they are reliable and a pain in the rear to take apart. But I also read that taking them apart for cleaning wasn't necessary. Check out the videos on youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Their mags are their only downfall. Sometimes you need to pinch the tops of the feeding lips on them.......little tid bit of info the great one above in the pic passed on to me......

It's funny, every time I've seen a Hi-Point at the range everybody there is clamoring to shoot it... and I don't recall ever seeing one F up!

WOuldn't take nothing for my C9, It out shot my Bersa 9 pro, so I sold the Bersa. Check out the custom grips now available at www.designergrips.com. anything you see there he can make for the HP's. Mine has the carbon fibergrips on it and makes a great house/truck gun.

polish feedramp for hp's and ensure maglips are kosher and you'll be fine...

i have owned quite a few of these from bargain-hunting and have sent a few back to the mothership..great customer service (what other company sends a free mag and handwritten repair note?)

although they aren't glocks, they will definitely hold their value as a cache item for hard times

I bought a C9 as my first firearm. I have over 6k rounds down the pipe and only had problems in the first 100 rounds. That was just me limp-wristing though. They are a direct blowback design and are very sensitive to a limp wrist (where the recoil is absorbed by the shooters wrist/arm instead of the slide). if your in a self defence situation, chances are your better off with whatever weapon you have, and even if its not of the highest quality, it should fire off a few rounds without a problem. And remember, the best weapon is the one you have on you.

I have a Stallard Arms JS-9 that a friend sold me for $20 several years ago. Thousands of rounds and it has never failed once. Hi-Point was Stallard Arms about three buyouts ago.

Oh......it is very accurate too.

Just keep it clean & oiled between uses.

A lot of people role their eyes when you say Hi-Point, but I've never heard owners talk about quality issues. They seem to be reliable and owners say they shoot pretty well. About the only complaints I hear is that they're -fugly, -top heavy, -bulky. I've never shot one, but I've held a few & they do feel like they have a brick on top of the slide, but I've not heard of any real problems with the brand. I think the main thing that stopped me from getting one was that it simply didn't feel comfortable in my hands. It was a little top heavy...and bulky...and kind of fugly.
