Matther Walker MD Colt 38 Super

RASHGUNNER

Recommended Posts

I receintly found this 38 Super and was horrified to see that someone had engraved a name on the slide. But now after doing some research as to who this man was I am rather proud to own this pistol now.

He was a MD in the Nashville area and has a Public Helath Clinic named after him.

Evidentally he was an avid hunter and shooter.

Thats pretty neat. Most of the guns I find like that, have someones drivers license # scratched on the side!

That is way too cool !! You should check out and document the history of the previous owner. I would probably be very interesting as well as add to the value of your gun

Matthew Walker, Sr, MD, FACS, FICS, 1906--1978.

This link tells who he was and what he did.

I have great respect for any self-made man, and Dr. Walker was certainly one of those. The OP's pistol is truly a unique piece of American History.

For the sake of history, I'd love to see this in a museum...that will never happen, since it's a nasty evil gun that kills people.

Take good care of this, Rashgunner. You've got something very special, and it seems like you truly understand its value.
