"Official" East Tn TGO Fall "Meet & Shoot"

Recommended Posts

I'd be glad to bring the smoker, I just need some info on what everyone wants.

If we only do hot dogs and hamburgers, I can definitely do that VERY easily.

If we do ribs, I can do that pretty easy also. Ribs take about 5 hours.

We (I) won't have time to do anything bigger than that, like pork shoulders...they take approximately 12 hours give or take 2 hours.

With hot dogs and hamburgers, everyone can bring their own and I can throw them on the smoker when they get there. All beef dogs are WAY better on the smoker.

With ribs...again, everyone can bring their own, but...I would need at least 5 hours to get them done. And I'll need to bring some super secret ingredients and a few extra tools. Don't get me wrong...I love to do ribs, but, that is a little more expense for me. I'll need to know a DEFINITE head count for the "rib" people before I leave the house.

And like Bubba has said...if everyone can bring something pertinent...I'll do the smokin'!!!

I'm more than happy to bring $20 for the feast.

Might I suggest we do something like a lunch vs. a supper. That way, either day we end up choosing, the evenings would actually be free. Start gathering some where round 10am and end up starting the shootin' round 11am or so if that's cool with BigJ45. Then I'd say start grubbin 'round 1 or 2ish........if people have to start falling out to "go trick or treatin'" with their yard apes, it won't big a big deal for them. That way every body get a chance to attend and hang around for a few hours without cutting themselves short on the time spent amongst friends......just a thought.

Hey guys, I have been busy and haven't checked on here lately. Which ever day you all decide is fine with me. We need to decide what time and pick a good location for everyome to meet and convoy in to eliminate having people wondering around lost. If we have a real big crowd any who can carpool would be appreciated as parking is kinda limited. I like the idea of the smoker. I'm always up for some smoked swine. Look forward to seeing everybody. We could always invade Shoney's like we did last year. That was cool meeting people before we shot. Gave people a meet n greet before we went to your place.

FYI...for those planning on leaving early....GPSs' are a very usefull tool. That's what I used last year when I left. Led me right home.

BigJ45....might be usefull info having the GPS coordants to your place as well. Give it to those who show that morning in case anyone gets lost heading there.........

This sounds reasonable to me.

There are a few folks that have stated they would throw in some cash...

Does everyone want me to buy the meat?

I'm not very comfortable with that, as I have been stuck with the cost a few times (not saying it would happen, just that it HAS happened). If I do it that way, It would feel more like a catered event, although I do a little catering, I don't want this to be so "formal". I hate asking friends for money, if you know what I mean.

Please don't take this the wrong way guys, I love to cook and I can bring the meat if that's what you want. Just be ready to PAY UP!!!!!!...LMAO

I have some land, but it's in Middle TN...lot's of fun and 115 acres of room, but too far away unfortunately. I'd be down for a private shoot. I go to Norris almost weekly, so that wouldn't be as appealing to me, plus we would have to deal with non-TGO'ers :)

Ooohhh I'm in Mid Tn too, I wanna go TOOOO!!!!

I don't blame you at all and I don't think it would be fair for people to expect you to bring the meat.

I think everyone should just bring what they want to eat. That way you don't have to mess with it.

I'll probably just bring some hotdogs for myself+buns+ whatever I want to drink.

I think it would be best if everyone else does the same.

As far as which day, it seems like the obvious choice would be Saturday. I don't think Sunday will be very easy for people who have kids.

That would probably be the easiest thing. I'll bring my own grub. If others want to work something else out with the "chef" then by all means that's between you guys.

+1 for Saturday.

I agree with Erik and titan that all the food shouldn't be left for a single person to bring(in hopes that the ones that committed actually come). Maybe if two friends know they are coming together(or going to meet there for that matter), they could go in together and split some hotdogs(or hamburger) and buns or something so not every single person is left bringing an entire pack of meat and buns for themselves(unless of course they plan on eating that much....lol). Also, If anyone wants something particular to drink, It would probably be best to bring it as well. I have a descent size cooler which I can bring to put some drinks and ice in. I will also cover the plates, napkins, and silverware as well. So like titan said, If we could get a fairly solid headcount ahead of time, that would be great.

Also, Saturday is good with me as well.
