Prentice Cooper Shooting Range

It is not "manned" its a free outdoor range open to all from daylight to dusk, at your own risk. Therefore a 13 year old is more than welcome, as is anyone else. I used to go there a bit when I lived closer to it.

Hopefully weather will be kind.

Most of the snow was melted last Monday and it wasn't real cold. Got my lazy butt out of the house and drove up to PC, and they had a big "road closed" sign on the PC entrance road. There was still some snow/ice on that road, but ought to have been passable.

Maybe they close it to keep ATV folk from destroying wet roads? Was kinda disappointing to have to turn around and go back home without shooting.

This is still on, but I'm going to be about an hour late. I should be there at 11:00 Eastern/10:00 Central. I'm chairman of the parkboard and I have to attend a meeting.

We need a way to distingush ourselves so does eveyone want to wear blaze orange? Any other suggestions?

If you can't make it to this one we are going to do another one next month, so no worries.

I don't have any blaze orange (or any orange for that matter).

I'm sure we can find some way to identify everyone can't we?

Weather does look good so far - let's hope it holds!!!

I'm planning to bring either a SCAR or an FS2000 or both (both are 5.56 of course)...also will bring at least one of my 1911s (45 ACP) and likely my Glock 20 (10MM). Anyone who would like to shoot any of those are welcome to do so (although I'd appreciate it if you can use your ammo and/or that I get to shoot one of yours in exchange!).

Can anyone clue me in on the "parking" and/or road or lane to get to the range? I'm wondering because I my drive my sports car if the weather is actually decent but of course sports cars don't like rough gravel/dirt roads, etc...if the terrain isn't favorable to a sports car I can always use my SUV.

I'm sorry to say that it doesn't look as if I'm going to make it; at least not before most everyone will probably be ready to leave. I'm going to have to spend at least most of the morning on Saturday working. Thankfully; I'll be able to do it from home but it still means I couldn't leave until at least late Saturday morning (central time). :)

I was there between 10:15 and 11:45. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet anyone. Did anyone show up? I asked a few people present if they were part of TGO, and all I got were some perplexing stares. Perhaps next time if there is to be a meet and shoot, everyone can meet at Burger King on Signal Mountain Rd before going to the range.
