Ok, so there are a few more places there it seems to me as I read thru the postings that do not welcome our rights even if issued by the state to carry.

Nevada recognizes the Right to Bear Arms; Tennessee does not. Never forget that; it’s a crime to carry a gun in Tennessee.

You can join our group by paying your fees for the privilege.

It’s just a hunk of steel. I throw it in the glove box or the center console and hope they find it and leave before they find my laptop. The guns a lot easier and a lot cheaper to replace. :P

I have two of the nanovault safes. The wife has the 100 and I have the 200 series. If someone really wanted either one they could cut the cable and run. They seem decent like quality for the money.

Thank you for adding to my confusion!

He simply means that Nevada allows you to carry a pistol openly without any permit, yet in TN you can get 11/29 plus fine for doing the same. Therefore it is a right there but not here.

Here we must possess a permit to carry in any way, hence it is a privilege rather than a right. The TN HCP is a defense to the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

I agree ... one does not have to pay money to exercise a right.

Me too.

But it doesn't get left very often, or for very long.

I use a product like this as well. Ordered it from here: Center Of Mass Central. I bought two of them keyed identically, one for my car and one for the wife's. We both have permits. Only for when leaving the car briefly, never for long-term storage.

I went with the keyed model because I can operate the lock by feel, but a combination lock requires enough light and my reading glasses.

I don't think they could be charged unless the gun was left in the vehicle of a person without a HCP. Not in the situation you described. But I could be wrong.

I think they could...because if they have access to it, they have constructive possession. Now whether they would or not depends on the LEO and other factors I guess. I would hope that most of the time they wouldn't though...

I have the center of mass safe, but mainly use it on the motorcycle now instead of the truck. When in the truck I just leave it in the center console and lock the truck doors.
