I am for privatizing part of NASA.

I don't know who wrote this article, but I absolutely cannot accept the premise that you have to pay for tax cuts. A tax cut is not the same as spending.

Cut them both along with SS and pay some the country's bill's? Doh! No that makes sense, can't do that.

Are you willing to give up all that FICA you've payed since your first paycheck to correct the mistakes of idiots?.

I have been paying in since I was 15, that would be about 38 years. There damn well better be some coming back my way some day. If you don't pay in you should not be able to take out.

Privatizing space exploration would be fine with me.

I believe that for any country to be a "Super power" in today's world a space program is necessary. It may seem pointless to normal people (including me) but even though we aren't exploring plants or putting people on the moon we are finding out important information. Do I know exactly what information we are finding out? No but I am positive it does help us advance for war, self defense, or moving to another planet/living in space (incase a catastrophe happens). Might seem far fetched but I know if something new develops I don't want to be left in the dust.

As for privatizing part of NASA, it makes me uneasy. To sell out so somebody else can be profitable. If NASA were to privatize would they lower "standards" or loosen requirements for mission. It could become more wreck-less and/or the privatizer could compromise important information.

Don't throw me in the loony bend but as I stated it is farfetched, not impossible.

Honestly, I know I'll never see a dime of it anyway. SO....Yeah, I would. "All that FICA I've paid in" is what's keeping lazy ghetto trash in crack and diapers...and old people who've drawn out more in the first few years then they ever paid in. It's NOT been invested wisely to make a profit and a return on our investment, it's funding for entitlements and I for one know the system WILL crash and burn....sooner rather than later for all I care.

...oops, you didn't ask for all that crap. Sorry.:hiding:

Mike, at 53 you stand a good chance of seeing some of it. Not for sure thing, but your chances are better than mine. I hope you get it bud, take what you can get as fast as you can;)

I sure hope it comes back to me, if not the guy you see on the evening news going batcrap crazy will be me.

If late boomers like myself get hosed things in this country will get ugly. Heck at that point it will be ugly anyway.

No matter how incompitent the .gov is they can't throw an entire generation under the bus.

Probably all for nought, the country will be gone by the time I ever reach retirement age anyway. The USA will be gone.

Well, if you go batty, give me a call. I may or may not join in the festivities, but I might donate to the cause.:hiding:

Seriously though, the USA gone? You're dang right, we're on our way out and it ain't gonna be long.

Space exploration is as noble an endeavor the US has ever attempted, but it shows the extent of our decline to shelve it -- we gotta hitch a ride with the Russkies now just to get to the space station. And it never cost more than a penny or two out of each taxable dollar.

Hell, it's ultimately the only thing that can possibly preserve our entire species. Saddens me, really does.

Unfortunately, a lot of people either don't or refuse to realize that. This planet wont last forever.

Someone needed to say it. Thanks. Your third sentence says much. Yeah, I am an old person, drawing SS and paying taxes on it.

I just recently looked at the figures as to what I paid into SS and what I paid into some investment accounts. My investment accounts are solvent. The SS funds were pissed away, like you said.

I currently look at my FICA as just more income tax. I continue to pay it in and never and will never receive any of it back.

Speaking of going bats**t crazy, I will be there if the government ever attempts to seize my private investments, such as my 401-K. I know it has been talked about on several occasions over the last few years. The socialists are just salivating over that 2 plus trillion people have in their personal retirement savings.

To quote Jack Nicholson playing the Joker, "This town (Washington) need an enema."

I'm with you. I want mine back. It angers me to think that I will never see a penney of it.

Yep, and I've paid in quite a bit over the years.

Fact is, I don't want my kids to have to pay my way. I don't care what's 'fair', at some point we have to break the cycle as it's unsustainable...

RIGHT!!! This country cries for a solution and EVERYONE wants things fixed so long as THEY aren't the one's that will have to make a sacrifice. Selfish, pathetic peons.

That town always needs an enema regardless which party is running things.

Where I work, I’m exempt from paying SS. I haven’t payed in13 years. My wife has to pay SS even though she will receive her retirementthrough my job and will be ineligible to receive SS. The government knows thisand still forces her to pay. Even if we divorce she will still receive her retirementthrough my job. What the hell, I’m all for pissing away good money.

Y'all do realize that whoever you work for pays an equal portion of FICA (actually 2% more in 2011) as you do.

In other words, it's possibly at least twice the amount you think it is since whoever you work for has to lower potential pay increases or reduce other benefits to pay their "fair share".

Unless you're self-employed, in which case you pay it all...
