I have an HK USPc that I am thinking about converting from Var 1 (DA/SA w/decock) to LEM. Cannot find any LEM equipped guns in local shops to atleast pull the trigger.

Do you like it? Would you rather have it than DA/SA? How long is the reset compared to S/A?

Has anybody done the conversion themselves? How big a cluster**** is that?

I have converted several Sigs to DAK, which is not fun. So in my mind I'm thinking it can't be any harder. Of course it doesn't always pay for me to be thinking.

I have a 2000 that came factory with it. It is most excellent. It's around a 4lb pull, 12lb when the slide doesn't cycle and recock it. It's a great trigger system, I think.

I am not a fan of DA/SA. Don't like the transition. This is much better.

Thank you for the response.

Have you ever shot a Sig DAK? Does it have a long reset?

If you're USP is a v1 why not just carry it cocked and locked, since the decocker is also a safety? This would give you the consistency of trigger pull I'm assuming your looking for. Just modify your range sessions to reflect the condition you carry, mix in some dry practice and the muscle memory will be there to switch the safety off if ever the time comes you need it.

I have a P2000SK with the Light LEM, and I really like it. The LEM has a little different feel compared to anything else I have tried, so it took a little getting used to. The takeup is a little spongy, but it breaks cleanly. The reset is a little longer than I would like, but I never had any issues short-stroking it.

I have handled a couple of SIG DAKs, but not recently enough to really provide any comparison.

I prefer a consistent trigger pull on a defensive gun. The LEM does not deliver that.

That is exactly what the LEM was designed for. They do provide a double-strike capability (useless, IMHO) which is much heavier.

The DAK trigger is liveable if you were to pick up a Sig that had one. I would not however purposely go on a hunt for one. I can't compare it to the LEM H&K trigger. Most people feel the same way I do about the DAK.

I converted my 226R, 228R, and 220R to DAK. I much prefer it to DA/SA. I practice a lot of draw, double-tap, and holster. That's where the DAK shines and the DA/SA sucks. If you practice shooting DA/SA by picking up the gun and just emptying it into a target, I think you have just wasted a bunch of practice rounds.

Have thought about doing this also. Next time I go practice I am going to try this. But to be honest the safety decock on this thing is not the best I have felt. It's not crisp like my TRP, and the gun is obviously fatter than a 1911 which makes the reach to the safety quickly a little more difficult. Plus I generally despise safetys on carry guns.

I converted my USP 45 from variant 3 to LEM. I like the LEM better than DA/SA. Speaking from experience, if you do the conversion yourself take a picture of the position of the sear, disconnector, etc before disassembly. If I hadn't had another USP to look at I don't know if I would have ever gotten it put back together.

I bought my parts from HK Specialist - Product Display for $79.95. But, it looks like they are out of stock right now.

I have LEM on my P30 and USP and love them. There is no other trigger system in use today that I would rather have in a defensive carry pistol. The LEM also gives you the added safety of being able to place your thumb over the hammer while holstering; if the trigger catches on say your shirt, you would feel pressure on your thumb from the hammer and stop, thus preventing a ND.

It is in stock here: HK LEM Trigger Conversion Kit - All USP and All HK45 - Top Gun Supply

It is an easy conversion to do on the USP. Here is a link to instructions on HK Pro.

LEM installation instructions

If you want the light LEM (4.5-5.5lbs), don’t change the FPBS, hammer spring, or the TRS.

I've had one briefly in the past and got rid of it pretty quick. I prefer a consistent trigger pull on a defensive gun. The LEM does not deliver that.

I'm scratching my head on this one too... The HK LEM trigger is a consistent trigger pull, from start to stop, every round is the same. It's the same thing every time. The reset is relatively short too, so it's pretty easy to ride the reset for fast follow up shots.

All my HK pistols (except for P7) have light LEM installed. The conversion is easy to do at home. Just be patient. There are some great pictorials on HK Pro that can guide you through the swap. If you don't like it, easy to switch back. I'd at least give it a couple of range trips before making the call. I didn't shoot anything but LEM for a while to become very familiar with it, although it really wasn't that hard to learn.

My HK45C in LEM is quite possibly... umm perfect.

You wouldn't want to do one more would you?

I have contemplated on getting a HP P30 with the LEM V1 (light) as I also hate DA/SA. Question. How does the light LEM compare to a good 1911 trigger, or is there any comparison? I would like to know before I dump $800 for a new gun.

mav, the 1911 trigger is in a class all its' own. One can't compare any trigger that swings to it. That being said, IMHO, the LEM trigger is one of the best of the swing triggers. It is consistent (unless the round fails to fire), it has a very clean break, and makes accuracy very easy. DON'T be fooled by dry fire drills. It will switch to the heavy pull because the slide didn't recock it.

I will go with Steelharp on this one. You really can't compare a single action trigger to any other. It's just not fair. I have always wanted to try a Sig 220 SAO. But have never had the opportunity.

If the USPc had a better feeling safety, I would probably just carry it cocked and locked. It's single action pull is pretty nice.

It is really impossible to compare the two. The LEM is more like a Glock or XD trigger. In my opinion, they are a little more spongy in takeup, but break crisper. The reset is a little longer, but not near as long as a Kahr.

Unless they have changed the LEM, the first trigger pull is long and spongy and the trigger on follow up shots is lighter and shorter. This does not equal "consistent" in my book. But it's been at least six years since I had an LEM variant HK so the system may have been revised for the better since then.
